California Farmers Protest Government-Imposed Drought Conditions

As the California drought drives up food prices, the authorities will continue to blame it on global warming climate change, which of course is caused by insufficient taxation and regulation, according to liberal dogma. The farmers struggling to survive know differently:

Thousands of farmers in drought-stricken California are rallying this week in opposition to regulations that have frozen water supplies across the state. …

At issue is a Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruling last week that upheld federal guidelines limiting water deliveries from the northern part of the state to the southern part of the state — to protect an endangered fish called the Delta smelt. The ruling went against a lower-court ruling that overturned the 2008 guidelines from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

If you ever encounter a delta smelt, kill it at once. The seemingly innocuous minnow, when exploited by liberals, has become an enemy of the human race.

“I’m looking at tens of thousands of people being out of work,” Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., said. “We’re probably going to have upwards of five, six, seven hundred thousand acres of farm ground that’s going to be out of production.”

As a result of the drought and water restrictions, experts believe retail food prices could jump as much as 3.5 percent this year.

This is all excellent news for our anti-human ruling class:

Environmentalists hailed last week’s appeals court decision.

They don’t worry about where food will come from. If they run short, they can just have the government confiscate food from greedy capitalists.

California may be able to carry the burden of kooky water regulations when it has been raining a lot — but in the Southwest, it does not always rain a lot, regardless of regulations.

“I don’t know what to tell [my son] for a future,” [Alfalfa farmer Michael] Erskine said. “Don’t be a farmer. Government gets in the way.”

We are reaching the point where there is only one constructive activity left to us: fighting to reduce Big Government any way we can.

On a tip from Wiggins.

One would think that liberals would be more concerned with thousands of illegal wetbacks losing their jobs than some stinking fish, that when truth be known, probably isn’t endangered at all.

Speaking of illegals. Now that there’s a drought in California it would be the perfect time to STOP immigration into California. Both illegal and so-called “legal” immigration. The drought wouldn’t be such a problem if there weren’t so many immigrants in California. Immigrants use water also, and lots of water. Of course, the lawmakers in Sacramento won’t consider the option of STOPPING immigration into California to help ease the water shortage. That would be too patriotic.
Reagan is the Very One who gave the illegals their first “amnesty”. After Reagan’s “amnesty”, California — and the whole USA –was swamped with even more illegals than ever before in history of the United States. Reagan’s policy concerning immigration, both so-called “legal” and illegal immigration, wasn’t any different than the policy of the COMMUNISTS/LEFTISTS concerning immigration, both so-called “legal” and illegal immigration.

wont be long till someone goes to china town and gets a few live Channa argus and puts then in the system WAY WAY WAY up north…

or someone will dump a drum of rotenone and kill ALL the fish.

no fish.. no problem… as stalin would say of men

i am NOT suggesting this, i am just stating a fact that at some point, someone ranging from a farmer with a large land, to a bunch of migrant workers who want jobs… will dump something in..

without any fish in the rivers there is nothing to protect.

sadly… this is often the outcome of the laws to protect species..

as faarmers and others who would leave them alone, kill them outright to avoid someone else seeing them and claiming they are on the property

The farmers are reaping what they sowed. I hope they all go bankrupt. Half of LA county is foreign born (with another big chunk being anchor babies) and the central valley farmers are directly responsible for this with their insatiable greed for illegal farm labor.
How about we talk about shutting off the water to the 5 million mexicans living in LA instead of picking on a fish that is very important to the ecosystem (food for migrating salmon). I’m not going to give up my salmon for the farmers or the illegals. If you want water for the farmers, take it from the illegals in LA.

Who said anything about Reagan? Since you mention it, immigration issues in America go back way before Reagan came along. Yes, Ronald Reagan wasn’t perfect as no politician is, but he is the complete and total polar opposite of the utter fraud and failure that currently occupies 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Pinworm.
