Candice Wiggins: Bullied Out of the WNBA for Being Heterosexual

Despite all the hoaxes, people really do get bullied for their sexual preference. An example is Candice Wiggins, a star player who has had enough and is leaving the WNBA:

She was the No. 3 overall draft pick out of Stanford in 2008. She was named the league’s Sixth Woman of the Year as a rookie. She won a championship with the Minnesota Lynx.

The success, Wiggins says now, hid a darker reality.

She has abruptly announced her retirement, despite having just turned only 30 — largely because she is sick of being targeted for harassment for being heterosexual.

“Me being heterosexual and straight, and being vocal in my identity as a straight woman was huge,” Wiggins said. “I would say 98 percent of the women in the WNBA are gay women. It was a conformist type of place. …

“People were deliberately trying to hurt me all of the time. I had never been called the B-word so many times in my life than I was in my rookie season. I’d never been thrown to the ground so much. The message was: ‘We want you to know we don’t like you.’ …

“So many people think you have to look like a man, play like a man to get respect. I was the opposite. I was proud to a be a woman, and it didn’t fit well in that culture.”

Now Wiggins wants to play beach volleyball instead.

She touts the sport’s camaraderie and its “celebration of women and the female body as feminine, but strong and athletic.”

No one watches the WNBA anyway, although liberals seem to support it in theory. It stays alive because it is subsidized by the moonbats running the NBA.

On a tip from Bodhisattva.

Plus, she’s also attractive. I’d bet she’s a right-leaning woman of faith to boot.

  2. Night Wind says:

I wonder if she’s single? At 30, it’s about time she settled down with a nice Conservative blogger….

This is what a REAL feminist looks like!

Exactly, unlike FINO (feminists in name only) like “Big Red” and Trigglypuff.

Memo to the WNBA, look what happened to the NFL ratings after they supported Kaepernick.

  8. ICEvictim says:

if this attractive young lady goes to beach volleyball she’ll be a hit (pardon the pun). Bimboball aka WNBA is a real yawn anyway. In fact all the b-ball TV sports are boring now.

  9. ICEvictim says:

    ha ha ha
that wouldn’t be you by any chance? *grin*

I think she would be slam dunk

  11. Hungjumper says:

Had a female HS friend who went on to play college BB in the early 70’s. She said the coach was a dyke and had a “special connection” with the rugmunching girls on the team. She was a great player but rarely saw the court as she swung the wrong way.

  12. Hungjumper says:

    She’s a babe,…and a Stanford grad ta boot.

  13. 762x51 says:

Beach Volleyball? She should go play in the LPGA, aka, Dykes on Spikes. Wait, that may not solve the problem, but then again, I doubt that beach volleyball is muffer free.

  14. OldSailor says:

Hey, it’s up to her what sport she wants to participate in. That said I agree that BV is probably not lez-free, but again she probably knows more about it than you or I would.

  15. OldSailor says:

I was thinking the same thing. 😉

  16. ms. says:

So, do you think the men would watch women’s basketball if more players were like her ? Probably. Sad that looks count for more than ability – her Stanford degree sounds like an “extra” (ta boot). No I don’t follow sports, I’m not an athlete, and I’m not gay. (I shouldn’t have had to say that last but you know people’s assumptions — females who complain about having to look good are : choose one or more — gay, fat, old, stupid, unsuccessful, single, ugly, whatever)…
