A society becomes free due to courage. It stays free by the same means. Courage is a manifestation of character, which has been eroded in the West by moonbattery. Britain will degenerate into Airstrip One if it becomes a nation of cringing cowards like Winston Marshall, banjo player for the folk rock band Mumford & Sons.

On Saturday, Marshall had fallen under fire by leftists on social media after tweeting, “Congratulations @MrAndyNgo. Finally had the time to read your important book. You’re a brave man,” alongside an image of Ngo’s new book, Unmasked: Inside Antifa’s Radical Plan to Destroy Democracy.

At least Marshall recognizes bravery when he sees it. Ngo has done the crucial work the “mainstream” media refuses to do by getting up close to Antifa and reporting back. Antifa has responded as you would expect of fascist thugs (sorry, I mean antifascist thugs), sending him to the emergency room with a brain hemorrhage and threatening to kill him. After his book came out, he was forced to seek refuge abroad (ironically, in Marshall’s UK), but don’t expect him to quit.

Marshall’s endorsement produced the predictable response from tolerant liberals on Twitter. He was denounced as a “Nazi sh**bag” et cetera. Not being of Ngo’s caliber, he quickly caved to the mob, deleting the tweet.

That wasn’t enough. In hopes of appeasing unappeasable cancel culture, Marshall dropped to his knees and begged moonbats to forgive him.

This may be the most disgusting thing you ever see. Marshall tweeted the following:

“Over the past few days I have come to better understand the pain caused by the book I endorsed. I have offended not only a lot of people I don’t know, but also those closest to me, including my bandmates and for that I am truly sorry. As a result of my actions I am taking time away from the band to examine my blindspots.

“For now, please know that I realise how my endorsements have the potential to be viewed as approvals of hateful, divisive behaviour. I apologise, as this was not at all my intention.”

Quite how anyone thinks it’s controversial to be critical of Antifa, a disgusting, violent, extremist group that routinely attacks innocent people, including the disabled, is anyone’s guess.

Antifa is perhaps the most “hateful” and “divisive” organization in existence, although they’d face stiff competition from Black Lives Matter.

Antifa violence has been inflicted in support of Black Lives Matter so often that when it comes to mayhem, there is little point distinguishing between them.

Despite Antifa enjoying the overt support of the media and the tacit support of the Democratic Party, a recent Harvard/Harris poll found that 71% understand it to be a terrorist group. People just can’t say so publicly, because bullies are scary.

Tipping your hat to Andy Ngo is clearly extreme thoughtcrime. This gives the lie to woke ideology. Ngo is gay and nonwhite. Given the treatment he has received from Antifa thugs, he is far more of a victim than pampered campus crybullies who whimper about microaggressions. Progressives demand that we submit to them in the name of gays and nonwhites, who are sacred in the liberal religion due to their alleged victimhood. Yet Ngo is anathema, because he exposes the tactics of leftist brownshirts. On the Left, the issue is never the issue; the issue is always seizing power as an end in itself.

First come denunciations (as with classic movies by Turner Classic Movies), censorship (as with Bugs Bunny cartoons), and warning labels (as with The Muppet Show). Then classic movies and TV shows will be ghettoized, like pornography. For example, Disney has been taking iconic children’s movies out of the children’s section because moonbats now regard them as offensive:

DISNEY+ has stripped its children’s movie selection of classic movies like Dumbo, The Aristocats, and Peter Pan because of their “racist” stereotypes.

Settings on the streaming site’s app will deter children from watching the once-loved, now controversial, titles.

Since not everyone has a PhD in Social Justice, Disney helpfully explains in a Stories Matter section why the iconic movies are now to be regarded as thoughtcrime.

For Dumbo they explained that “the crows and musical number pay homage to racist minstrel shows, where white performers with blackened faces and tattered clothing imitated and ridiculed enslaved Africans on Southern plantations.”

Education in Critical Theory allows you to find something problematic in every conceivable aspect of American culture. That no kid watching the movie will superimpose nonsense about enslaved Africans on a bunch of birds is irrelevant.

Another ideological sin:

[F]or Peter Pan they stated that “the film portrays Native people in a stereotypical manner that reflects neither the diversity of Native peoples nor their authentic cultural traditions.”

Any portrayal of Indians deemed “stereotypical” by leftists is to be erased. That’s why Indians are disappearing as an aspect of American society, no longer to be seen on butter packaging, baseball hats, et cetera.

However, despite this, adults will still be able to access the taboo movies – but they will be shown with disclaimers warning viewers of what is to come.

Viewers wanting to watch the animated flicks will be told: “This program includes negative depictions and/or mistreatment of people or cultures.

“These stereotypes were wrong then and are wrong now.”

If you are going to watch classic movies, you should at least watch them feeling guilty, or better still, feeling smugly superior to the society that produced them.

You can guess the last stage of this process. Classic shows that have helped comprise American culture will disappear altogether, leaving us nothing but unwatchable woke garbage that imposes a fake culture rather than reflecting the real one that social engineers are in the process of abolishing.

As noted yesterday, New York Times propagandist Charles Blow marked Pepe le Pew for cancelation for allegedly promoting rape culture (unlike the rap that liberals revere). Pepe was already vanishing. Deadline reports that a decision had been made to delete the amorous French skunk from a Space Jam sequel:

Pepe was set to appear in a black-and-white Casablanca-like Rick’s Cafe sequence. Pepe, playing a bartender, starts hitting on a woman at the bar played by [Greice] Santo. He begins kissing her arm, which she pulls back, then slamming Pepe into the chair next to hers. She then pours her drink on Pepe, and slaps him hard, sending him spinning in a stool, which is then stopped by LeBron James’ hand. James and Bugs Bunny are looking for Lola, and Pepe knows her whereabouts. Pepe then tells the guys that Penelope cat has filed a restraining order against him. James makes a remark in the script that Pepe can’t grab other Tunes without their consent.

Santo isn’t happy about the cut:

The actress-singer has been a victim of sexual harassment and has spoken out against it; even recording a debut single “Você Você” back in February 2018 with multi- Grammy-winning producer Humberto Gatica to empower women to stand up to sexual predators and sexual harassment. Santo even has a non-profit, Glam with Greice, which aims to empower victims of domestic violence to change their lives for the better. Santo took joy in shooting the Space Jam sequel scene with Pepe, because the skunk finally gets his comeuppance.

She must not have gotten the memo from the NY Times that the mere existence of Pepe le Pew reifies rape culture. Whether he is presented as an object of ridicule as in the original cartoons or subjected to physical punishment as in the deleted scene makes no difference.

It’s like the forbidden n-word. Even to say it in the context of denouncing someone else for saying it will get you canceled, as Papa John Schnatter learned the hard way. If liberals don’t like something, it must not exist at all. Context is irrelevant.

Pepe isn’t the only one to bid us adieu:

The main television source of classic movies is Turner Classic Movies. Can we trust anything spawned by Ted Turner of CNN infamy as a cultural repository? We cannot:

Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho and Rope are among the films that Turner Classic Movies has deemed “troubling and problematic,” joining the ranks of Gone with the Wind in a new series called “Reframed: Classic Films in the Rearview Mirror,” which seeks to scrutinize old movies through the lens of today’s identity politics.

The new TCM series, which launched on Thursday, also seeks to pick apart such innocuous movies as Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner? and My Fair Lady.

“Many of the beloved classics that we enjoy on TCM have stood the test of time in several ways, nevertheless when viewed by contemporary standards, certain aspects of these films can be troubling and problematic,” the cable network said.

Anything deemed “troubling and problematic” by cultural gatekeepers is living on borrowed time.

Next after subjecting ideologically problematic movies to a Two Minutes Hate, TCM will probably put “offensive content” warnings on them, like Disney does with The Muppet Show. Then classics like The Searchers will be passed over, so that the controllers can run The Color Purple for the third time of the week — until The Color Purple is discovered to be problematic in its turn for infractions against political correctness that we cannot even imagine now. How long can John Wayne movies survive in a world controlled by people who would cancel Dr Seuss?

If it is worth having, liberals will see it as worth erasing, so get it on DVD.

Suddenly on Tuesday, after the company that publishes Dr. Seuss books announced it would stop selling six of his titles — “And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street,” “If I Ran the Zoo,” “McElligot’s Pool,” “On Beyond Zebra!,” “Scrambled Eggs Super!” and “The Cat’s Quizzer” — those books could not be found on Amazon.com for their normal prices, and any editions for sale had astronomical prices.

For example, when searching for “If I Ran The Zoo,” the Amazon site listed “1 new,” “1 used,” and “1 collectible,” but when clicking on the links for “new” or “used,” a message popped up reading, “Currently there are no other sellers matching your location and/or item specification.” Yet a “collectible” link showed the book available for $1,500.

Imagine how much you might get for the last DVD of Gone With the Wind.

Eventually, we will reach the part where Democrat authorities go house to house confiscating forbidden cultural relics, as was done by the Red Guard during the Chinese Cultural Revolution. Ray Bradbury predicted what we will do next in Fahrenheit 451: memorize the books, so that they will not be totally lost to tyranny.

To achieve political perfection, everything that came before now must be erased. That means our entire culture. All of it is racist, even the anodyne Dr Seuss books we grew up on.

It was 2 years ago that Learning for Justice declared Dr Seuss to be politically unclean:

Until recently, Read Across America Day was—in everything but title—National Dr. Seuss Day. It’s even celebrated on March 2, his birthday.

Social engineers have discovered that this is yet another example of our shameful systemic racism. Now the National Education Association focuses on “Celebrating a Nation of Diverse Readers.” Diversity means eradicating anything not in full compliance with up-to-the-minute leftist dogma. This spells curtains for Dr Seuss.

Researchers Katie Ishizuka and Ramón Stephens examined 50 children’s books and 2,200 characters created over Theodore Seuss Geisel’s nearly 70-year career “to evaluate the claims that his children’s books are anti-racist.”

Naturally, the “researchers” found racism. If academics couldn’t find it wherever they look, they might be forced to find real jobs. Of the 2,240 human characters in Dr Seuss books, an insufficient percentage were non-Caucasians, and these were not depicted in strict accordance with today’s ideological requirements. Imagine having nothing better to do than count the characters in children’s book to see if they comply with current diversity quotas.

Even “The Sneetches” is racist, because it is antiracist. It makes the point that people should be seen as individuals rather than as faceless representatives of warring tribes. This is antiracist to a normal person, but racist to the woke social engineers who have redefined racist to mean not racist, and vice versa.

Presenting the politically correct way to read about Sneetches:

The solution to the story’s conflict is that the Plain-Belly Sneetches and Star-Bellied Sneetches simply get confused as to who is oppressed. As a result, they accept one another. This message of “acceptance” does not acknowledge structural power imbalances. It doesn’t address the idea that historical narratives impact present-day power structures. And instead of encouraging young readers to recognize and take action against injustice, the story promotes a race-neutral approach.

This pernicious lunacy is completely on the level. This is what they are teaching in colleges these days. The author, Gabriel Smith, is described in his bio as “a program associate with Teaching Tolerance.” By tolerance, they are presumably referring to Herbert Marcuse’s repressive tolerance — i.e., intolerance.

Now that progressives have destroyed the concept of tolerance by redefining it to mean intolerance, they can dispense with it altogether. That could be why Teaching Tolerance changed its name to the more vindictive Learning for Justice. As Rod Dreher notes:

Smith’s denunciation of Dr Seuss has been getting traction as the cancel culture searches out new witches to burn. Explicitly in the name of inclusion, Dr Seuss has been excluded altogether from Read Across America Day in Loudon County, Virginia public schools.

Lee quickly and predictably led to the cancelation of Abraham Lincoln, the thought police are already targeting even the calmest and most reasonable conservatives, including the esteemed countermoonbat Matt Christiansen.

Christiansen has been canceled by Streamlabs, which produces livestream software, apparently not because he said anything in particular that was “offensive,” but because he makes good arguments against leftism and is therefore regarded as a threat to the liberal establishment. Sarah Corriher, another threat to the liberal establishment who is no doubt in leftists’ crosshairs, explains the situation:

Christiansen was denied a refund for a service that he paid for but was also denied. This is theft, as surely as when Google’s AdSense and Taboola abruptly cut off advertising on Moonbattery.com without paying what they owed. It’s okay to steal from canceled thought criminals. They are no longer people, once they have been unpersoned.

The immolation of Mandalorian actress Gina Carano confirms that the entertainment industry now imposes a policy of zero tolerance for countermoonbattery. When the actress made a valid point regarding liberal cancel culture, her point was promptly confirmed by her own cancelation:

“Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future,” said a spokesperson for LucasFilm on Wednesday. “Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”

Carano obviously was not denigrating anyone. Here’s the thought crime that got her sent to the guillotine to the delight of the social media mob that had demanded her head (the Instagram post was deleted almost immediately):

“Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors…even by children,” the post read.

“Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views?” the post continued.

Liberals can’t say it isn’t true, so they pretend that it is racist and destroy the person who said it.

Or maybe it is against the rules now to use the Third Reich as a cautionary example. Yet her fellow Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal, a leftist, tweeted this without consequence:

Here, Pascal is comparing former President Donald Trump’s immigration policies to the Holocaust. The tweet leaves out important context. The “kids in cages” narrative surrounding Trump’s policies was misleading, given that the Obama administration built the facilities where migrants detained under Trump’s “zero-tolerance” immigration enforcement policies were held.

Since it is leftist propaganda rather than a plea for free speech and tolerance, it is still up there on Twitter, even though it is a lie. The kids in cages did not cross the American border as illegal aliens as we are led to believe. They are Palestinians detained in Israel.

Hollywood intolerance is a one-way street.

Nearly five months after drawing criticism for making a sexist comment while broadcasting a game, Mike Milbury is out at NBC Sports, the network confirmed.

Prior to his cancelation, Milbury announced hockey games.

Presenting the thought crime that wrecked his career:

After play-by-play man John Forslund said, “If you think about it, [the bubble is] a terrific environment with regard to — if you enjoy playing and enjoy being with your teammates for long periods of time, it’s a perfect place,” Milbury replied, “Not even any women here to disrupt your concentration.’’

That’s all it takes.

The next day, the NHL issued a statement criticizing Milbury’s remark, saying the league “condemns the insensitive and insulting comment that Mike Milbury made during last night’s broadcast and we have communicated our feelings to NBC. The comment did not reflect the NHL’s values and commitment to making our game more inclusive and welcoming to all.” …

As we learned while watching ballplayers kneel to Black Lives Matter rioters as they looted stores, set fire to police stations, and tore down statues of the Founding Fathers, no bastion of the liberal establishment is more militant than professional sports.

Milbury promptly issued an apology, but this was futile, as usual.

If you enjoy old movies, get them on DVD. Half the dialog in anything made early enough to be worth watching would now qualify as wrongthink. It is only a matter of time before everything from the unwoke past is erased.

Soon even liberals will realize that they don’t like living in a country where you constantly have to walk on eggshells and can never speak naturally. By then it will be too late — if it isn’t too late already. Repression has a mind of its own.

No one who lived in the past can conform to au courant leftist ideology with sufficient wokeness to escape cancelation — not even the Great Emancipator Abraham Lincoln, under whose presidency America expended 620,000 lives to free blacks. His erasure continues.

In Boston:

Workers removed the Emancipation Memorial, also known as the Emancipation Group and the Freedman’s Memorial, early Tuesday from a park just off Boston Common, where it had stood since 1879.

It takes a long time for a country to accrue a history, but not that long to erase it so that a contrived history can be presented in its place.

City officials had agreed in late June to take down the memorial after complaints and a bitter debate over the design. Mayor Marty Walsh acknowledged at the time that the statue made residents and visitors alike “uncomfortable.”

Having their history erased makes patriotic Americans uncomfortable. But patriotic Americans are not woke; therefore, their discomfort is a good thing.

It was created to celebrate the freeing of slaves in America and was based on Archer Alexander, a Black man who escaped slavery, helped the Union Army and was the last man recaptured under the Fugitive Slave Act.

But while some saw the shirtless man rising to his feet while shaking off the broken shackles on his wrists, others perceived him as kneeling before Lincoln, his White emancipator.

Casting whites in a positive light is forbidden in the context of race relations.

The Boston statue is a copy of an original in Washington that was paid for by freed black slaves. These donors were unwoke, so the monument they wanted to leave behind warrants erasure, just like Honest Abe. The National Guard was deployed to defend the original from leftist vandals, but it is living on borrowed time.

In San Francisco:

Lincoln personally saved 265 of 303 marauding Indians who had been sentenced to death after the Santee Sioux uprising. The innocent whites killed in this spasm of savagery are forgotten. The 38 maniacs Lincoln did not save constitute the main evidence that he deserves to be forgotten too.

Everyone knew this would not stop with the cancelation of Robert E. Lee. America’s entire heritage has been targeted for cancelation. In its place we will get a new heritage, fabricated to recast the greatest nation in history as an abomination.

Only one side can survive this conflict. Either wokeness or America will be eradicated.

Four years ago, 15-year-old Mimi Groves, then a freshman at Heritage High School in Virginia, was excited to get her learner’s permit. After receiving it, she sent her friend a 3-second Snapchat video in which she said: “I can drive, [n-word]!”

Biracial classmate Jimmy Galligan got hold of the video. He held onto it until it could be employed to maximum effect.

Groves had been accepted to the University of Tennessee and was set to join the school’s cheer team, which at the time was the reigning national champion. When Galligan posted the video of Groves online and it went viral, she lost her position on the cheer team and was forced to withdraw from the university after facing pressure from admissions officials.

For his act of malice, Galligan was richly rewarded by the media establishment.

Galligan received a New York Times profile and the story presented from his point of view, along with a headline clearly favoring his actions. “A Racial Slur, a Viral Video, and a Reckoning,” reads the Times headline about Galligan’s act.

Groves abjectly apologizes for once as a 15-year-old having uttered the word that is forbidden to Caucasians under our racial caste system. She whimpers that the n-word was used in “all the songs we listened to, and I’m not using that as an excuse.”

Listening to politically fashionable crap didn’t help Mimi Groves. Neither did being a racially self-hating moonbat.

Groves had clearly become on the side of the mob after the police-involved death of George Floyd on May 25. She posted on Instagram at the time that people should “protest, donate, sign a petition, rally, do something” to support the Black Lives Matter movement.

This was the same day Galligan struck.

She wanted people to do something. They did something. They canceled a white person in the name of political correctness. Mimi got her wish.
