PragerU v YouTube

Lawyer Eric George makes the case that the PragerU v YouTube suit is the most important legal battle currently in the courts:

PragerU is the perfect outfit to bring this suit, because YouTube’s suppression of its educational and totally noncontroversial center-right content is so conspicuously outrageous.

Hopefully, this will resolve once and for all whether Google, YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter are neutral platforms or leftist publishers. So long as they pretend to be both, radical leftists will continue to crowd opposition out of the public square.

United Nations Announces Crackdown on Free Speech

Utopia must be imposed on a global basis; otherwise, people will escape to places where basic human rights like free speech and self-defense are still respected. That’s what makes the supranational United Nations so important. Secretary General Antonio Guterres has just put his name to a memo on a plan to suppress free speech (I mean, “hate speech”) worldwide.

Via Big League Politics:

The globalist organization was vague and unclear on what exactly they defined as “hate speech,” choosing to describe the phenomenon as “any kind of communication in speech, writing or behaviour, that attacks or uses pejorative or discriminatory language with reference to a person or a group on the basis of who they are, in other words, based on their religion, ethnicity, nationality, race, colour, descent, gender or other identity factor.”

“I don’t like it that vandals keep breaking the windows,” for example, is pejorative and discriminatory against people who identify as vandals. Needless to say, any remark critical of unlimited mass immigration would qualify as hate speech.

The definition of hate speech is left vague enough so that most anything you might say could conceivably qualify. That way, troublemakers can be punished selectively, and the rest of the herd will limit itself to reciting leftist talking points just to be on the safe side.

The United Nations believes that member nations are required to criminalize speech deemed by transnational bureauweenies to constitute “incitement.” No doubt these bureauweenies believe that their dictates supersede the US Constitution.

Compelled Speech in Ann Arbor

Suppressing speech isn’t repressive enough. True totalitarianism features compelled speech. People are forced to express views they are opposed to in benighted tyrannies such as Russia under Stalin, China under Mao, and Ann Arbor, Michigan under the moonbats running it now:

The Ann Arbor non-discrimination law is extremely broad and open to abuse. The law defines a “place of public accommodation” to include any “business … whose goods, services, facilities, privileges, advantages or accommodations are extended, offered, sold or otherwise made available to the public.” Any such company is prohibited from discriminating on the basis of political beliefs.

They used to say that when tyranny comes to America, it will arrive brandishing a Bible and a flag. They were wrong. It has arrived bleating piteously about discrimination.

Thankfully, someone is pushing back.

Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) filed a lawsuit on behalf of a conservative political consulting firm, warning that an Ann Arbor non-discrimination law would force that firm to parrot liberal messages and help Democrats get elected. If they refuse, they could get hit with fines of $500 per day. ADF is representing Grant Strobl and Jacob Chludzinski, founders of the company ThinkRight Strategies.

Nondiscrimination has been used as a pretext for tyranny before. The malicious persecution of Christian bakers and florists is an obvious example. Ann Arbor’s demented law could throw this thuggery into overdrive.

It isn’t only conservative consultants like Strobl and Chludzinski who might find themselves enslaved to their ideological opponents. Theoretically, anyone might be forced to say anything, lest they be found guilty of discrimination. As ADF Legal Counsel Samuel Green notes of the law,

“It could be used to require a Democrat to write speeches for President Trump or a pacifist painter to paint pro-war murals. It could force a pro-life painter to produce a mural for Planned Parenthood.”

Realistically speaking, however, experience indicates that the bullying will only go one way — in favor of forcing conservatives to mouth moonbattery.

Congress May Outlaw Memes

The European Union has already launched a war on memes (see here, here, and here). Now Congress follows suit:

A bi-partisan bill working its way through Congress could drastically change how copyright claims are processed, and would create a system to impose up to $30,000 in fines on anyone who shares protected material online.

In other words, the Congress wants to make it easier to sue people who send a meme or post images that they didn’t create themselves, essentially a giveaway to lawyers who sue unsuspecting suckers for a living.

Already, copyright trolls have forced to stop using graphics that are not embedded so as to avoid legal fees. The situation is about to get worse.

From the Copyright Alliance, which hopefully won’t sue me for quoting them:

On July 18, 2019, the Senate Judiciary Committee passed S. 1273, the Copyright Alternative in Small-Claims Enforcement Act of 2019 (CASE Act), legislation that will provide U.S. creators with a viable means for defending their copyrighted works through the creation of a small claims tribunal within the U.S. Copyright Office.

Sponsors include infamous moonbats Dick Durbin and Mazie Hirono in the Senate, Jerry Nadler and Ted Lieu in the House. However, some Republicans like John Kennedy are also on board.

The immediate effect will be to kill the meme, a political art form at which conservatives excel but liberals flounder, much like talk radio.

A Fight for the Future campaign explains what this will mean for you if the bill becomes law:

Have you ever shared a meme that you didn’t make? Or downloaded a photo you saw on social media? If Congress has its way, you could soon get slapped with a $15,000 fine by copyright trolls––with no chance of appeal––just for doing normal stuff on the Internet. These trolls buy up copyrights with the sole intent of sending out mass threats and lawsuits to harvest settlements.

Next, after they have purged graphics from every website with a smaller budget than CNN’s, they will go after extracted text, so as to wipe out blogs like this one completely.

A free and open Internet is too much of a threat to the Powers That Be to be allowed to exist indefinitely. Bureaucrats will regulate the life out of it, using copyrights and/or “hate speech” as the pretext. Soon we will be left with an Internet as bland, elitist, and 100% politically correct as PBS television.

Andrew Klavan Makes a Stand for Free Speech

Andrew Klavan is on a roll as he explains to moonbats that this is still America and until they drag him off to a gulag he will say what he pleases:

If only this attitude were more common, America might still be saved. Only a minority of Americans are moonbats. The rest are cowed into silent compliance lest they be denounced as a racist/sexist/transphobe/homophobe/Islamophobe/blahblahblah.

When the Left consolidates power, dissidents are shot. That’s the way it always works; refer to the history of communism for details. But that hasn’t happened in the USA yet, and maybe it never will if we use the First Amendment while we still have it.

Frederica Wilson Threatens Sites That Poke Fun

You can see why a person as patently absurd as cognitively crippled congresscritter of color Frederica Wilson, best known for wearing preposterous cowboy hats covered in sequins or made out of fur, might get tired of people making fun of her. But that is no excuse for threatening to bring down the mighty weight of Big Government on those who exercise the precious right of free speech by snickering online.

I’m guessing Frederica meant to say “acceptable,” not “unacceptable.” Words over two syllables get her confused.

Didn’t she have to swear an oath to uphold the Constitution? Too bad people who violate that oath cannot be promptly removed from Washington, preferably adorned in tar and feathers.

Elizabeth Warren Declares War on Free Speech

In case you needed confirmation that putting a hard left maniac like Elizabeth Warren in the White House would not promote free speech…

This outburst is particularly ominous in light of her calls for Silicon Valley behemoths to be dismembered by Big Government. The subtext: Suppress speech I don’t like or I will destroy you.

If she would silence criticism of her opponent during a primary battle, chances are good she would do the same regarding criticism of herself — which would also be racist, because Elizabeth Warren is the world’s first blonde-haired blue-eyed Indian.

I used to think it was a blessing that the Founding Fathers and their generation did not live to see what moonbattery has inflicted upon their magnificent creation, but here a second cousin of the great James Madison weighs in from beyond the grave:

Now it is pushing a quarter million likes. There is no question that once leftists have the leverage, the concept of “hate speech” will be used to snuff out free speech.

Facebook Helps France Regulate Internet Speech

If there is anyone left on earth who trusts Facebook, this ought to cure them:

In a world first, Facebook has agreed to hand over the identification data of French users suspected of hate speech on its platform to judges, France’s minister for digital affairs Cedric O said on Tuesday.

France is a country where you can be thrown in prison for expressing viewpoints that leftists like Emmanuel Macron consider “hate speech.”

The decision by the world’s biggest social media network comes after successive meetings between Zuckerberg and Macron, who wants to take a leading role globally on the regulation of hate speech and the spread of false information online.

Given that the definitions of “hate speech” and “false information” are entirely subjective and mean whatever authoritarians want them to mean, this power grab dwarfs Zuckerberg’s megalomaniacal plan to launch his own currency. Macron cannot even maintain order on Paris streets, but he wants to rule speech on the Internet — and Zuckerberg wants in on it.

“It is a strong signal in terms of regulation,” said Sonia Cisse, a counsel at law firm Linklaters, adding that it was a world first. “Hate speech is no longer considered part of freedom of speech, it’s now on the same level as terrorism.”

With Facebook’s latest move, France is now a clear frontrunner in the quest to regulate big social media outlets, and other platforms might follow suite, Cisse said.

Facebook will provide IP addresses among other identifying data to tyrants prosecuting people for politically incorrect thoughts. There was a time when any American — and possibly any Frenchmen — would have recognized this as something very bad.

United Nations Moves Toward Imposing Sharia

To the extent that the United Nations is able to impose global government, we will have global sharia. As with many of the most alarming lurches toward tyranny in the world today, the oppression will be inflicted in the name of repressing “hate speech.”

Pakistan threw its full weight behind the new UN Strategy and Plan of Action to combat hate speech, saying that language was being used to secure narrow political and electoral gains in many parts of the world, including the South Asian region.

In the olden days, Muslims imposed their ideology by whacking people’s heads off with scimitars. Now, they pursue the same objective by whimpering about hate speech. This degradation is the price Muslims pay for participating in the Muslim–moonbat alliance. Moonbattery rots everything it comes in contact with — even its friends.

“An inevitable consequence is to fan the flames of bigotry, intolerance, anti-Muslim hatred and xenophobia,” Ambassador Maleeha Lodhi said after UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres unveiled the strategy at a special meeting held in the packed ECOSOC chamber [last] Tuesday, says a press release.

“My Prime Minister Imran Khan has recently again called for urgent action to counter Islamophobia, which is today the most prevalent expression of racism and hatred against ‘the other’,” the Pakistani envoy told ambassadors, senior diplomats and high ranking UN officials.

“Islamophobia” means criticism of Islam. Forbidding criticism of Islam is a major tenet of sharia.

To the extent you are not allowed to speak out against this brutal sociopathic cult, you are ruled by it.

The UN Strategy and Plan of Action provides a system-wide programme with the overriding objective of identifying, preventing and confronting hate speech. The secretary-general said, “It targets the root causes of hate speech, pointing out that these include tackling violence, marginalisation, discrimination, and poverty, as well as bolstering weak state institutions.”

The reference to poverty indicates that after the UN has taken away your right of free speech on behalf of Muslims, it will take away the wealth you create for redistribution.

YouTube Deplatforms Black Pigeon Speaks

As part of the ongoing blitzkrieg the totalitarian leftists who run Google have been waging against right-of-center speech on YouTube, the thoughtful and highly esteemed countermoonbat Black Pigeon Speaks has been denounced as a thought criminal and frog-marched to the memory hole. He has been completely deplatformed for committing unspecified “hate speech.”

Ironically, the last video he put up warned of the threat moonbattery poses to freedom of speech.

Imagine if the government behaved this tyrannically. People would take up arms. Yet, to the extent we live on the Internet, Google largely is the government. Its presence is almost ubiquitous.

Fortunately, there are alternative platforms. The sooner we start using them, the fewer voices of dissent will be silenced. BPS is available on BitChute right here.

We can’t completely cut ourselves off from the leftist dinosaur platforms quite yet. In some cases, that would only help them to marginalize countermoonbats. But we need to acknowledge that they are the enemy. Alternative products like BitChute and Gab should always be preferred.

BPS’s latest video was posted here yesterday. Here it is again via BitChute:

Plain View Project Hits Phoenix

As mentioned earlier, the Plain View Project is an initiative launched by Philadelphia lawyer Emily Baker-White to sniff out police officers who have expressed right-of-center opinions on social media and expose them as thought criminals, likely destroying their careers. The damage caused by this witch hunt has been nationwide. From here in Phoenix:

The group flagged 179 posts by current Phoenix officers which it says promoted racism, bigotry or violence. …

Many of the posts were memes that mocked minorities or religious groups, including Muslims.

Intersectional Police Chief Jeri Williams has already banished some of the cops to nonenforcement assignments, and promises a thorough investigation.

Moonbat Mayor Kate Gallego has been quick to capitalize, barking righteously,

“There is no context in which these statements are acceptable. This city has absolutely no place for hate.”

The City Councilman representing my own district provides a breath of fresh air.

Sal DiCiccio said, “much of this only rises to the level of ‘hate’ if you’re a liberal snowflake.”

Adds the highly esteemed countermoonbat,

“We need to judge people on their actions, understand that free speech is messy and stop trying to stifle and persecute people for having opinions we don’t like.”

Unfortunately, DiCiccio is swimming against a ferocious current of leftist censorship. After cops lose the right to express any conservative opinion online, the rest of us will follow.

The end goal of social media censorship is for each of us who has not guzzled the liberal Kool-Aid to think he or she is all alone.

Law Enforcement Officers and Social Media

Law enforcement officers be advised: if you are going put anything on social media that reflects an opinion, it had better be a left-wing opinion, or you could end up in big trouble, like Mark Garrett:

The investigation into [California Highway Patrol] Chief Mark Garrett was initiated Monday after a [Los Angeles] Times reporter showed officials at CHP headquarters a message that the veteran highway patrol supervisor posted on his personal Facebook page.

That paragraph sums up the roll of the establishment media when it comes to freedom of speech online.

The entry, which Garrett posted in April 2017, shows a photo of [Bruce] Jenner that is overlaid with a transphobic and vulgar message. In bold type on Jenner’s image, it reads, “Anyone who says I’m not a lady can,” and then suggests the reader perform a sex act.

Sounds tasteless, but that isn’t the point. The point is that Bruce Jenner is a transsexual; any implied disrespect for transsexuals, their depraved lifestyle, or the nightmarish alterations they inflict on their bodies is a thought crime.

For now, we have been spared the standard groveling apology:

When confronted about the post, Garrett initially said he did not remember it.

“I have no recollection of it,” he said. “I am on Facebook very rarely.… If I shared it, I shared.”

The thought police are not going to let this unrepentant insouciance slide. He will be expected to crawl on his knees and beg the transgender community to forgive him — after which he will be fired anyway.

“That was a personal Facebook page, and it has nothing to do with the CHP,” said Garrett, the chief of the Los Angeles-area CHP.

Wrong. Thought crimes have to do with everything. Progressivism is a totalitarian ideology. There are no safe spaces from political correctness.

CHP spokeswoman Fran Clader has stridently denounced the Facebook post.

The Times attempted to contact Garrett on Tuesday and received an automated reply stating the chief would be out of the office through June 25.

It would be a pleasant surprise if Garrett ever resumes his duties.

If Garrett is perp-walked to the guillotine over the harmless meme, he won’t be the first.

The New York Police Department disciplined 17 officers in 2012 over offensive comments about a West Indian American Day parade.

A court of appeal last year, in upholding a five-day suspension for a Los Angeles police officer for a remark he wrote on Facebook, said the LAPD had the right to discipline him for his online conduct. …

In North Charleston, S.C., a police officer was fired for posting a photo of himself wearing Confederate flag underwear.

This is just the beginning. An industrial-scale purge is in the works.

A Philadelphia attorney has launched an extensive examination of the private social media accounts of nearly 3,000 law enforcement officers from eight departments nationwide. The resulting database is intended to show how hundreds of racist or bigoted comments and images from officers’ posts undermine the public trust, the project’s website says.

This refers to an initiative called the Plain View Project, led by Emily Baker-White. It is devoted to searching out cops with opinions leftists don’t like and exposing them for endorsing “racism and bigotry.”

Facebook posts or comments attributed to 15 high-ranking members of the Philadelphia Police Department — a police inspector, six captains, and eight lieutenants — were among those included in a database published Saturday by a group researching what it considers police bias.

A police spokesperson says this is under investigation.

An example of a thought crime flagged by Plain View Project in Philadelphia refers to American student Otto Warmbier, who died after being imprisoned by North Korea.

[A] Facebook post called the case “an eye opener to how spoiled and coddled our youth of today are here in this weak PC country. Yet they act like animals and burn and step on our Flag that so many of our children died for defending our rights and our country.”

When utopia has been imposed, such speech will be unthinkable.

The likelihood that any heads will roll over left-of-center opinions is low. Free speech on social media is increasingly becoming a one-way street.

Political Correctness Kills Free Speech in Germany

Here’s some surprising news. Despite a suffocating level of political correctness, a full 18% of Germans imagine that they live in a free country where they can express their views in public, according to a poll:

59 per cent of respondents out of the 1283 sample said they felt comfortable expressing themselves freely amongst friends, but only 18 per cent felt comparable freedom voicing their views in public.

In addition, just 17 per cent said they were comfortable expressing themselves freely on the Internet while a full 35 per cent said that freedom of speech is only possible in private circles.

This implies that what Germans think and what you hear them say are very different. The touchiest subjects are unsurprisingly Islam and colonists, I mean refugees.

Speaking of which, not everyone in Germany is afraid to speak his mind, even on controversial issues:

A series of street interviews with Muslims in Germany showed every single one of them asserting that it’s “absolutely” and “100 per cent” a woman’s fault if she is raped while wearing a short skirt.

Free speech is not an issue in Muslim culture, because everyone agrees with everyone else — or gets stoned to death.
