Clinton’s Other Legacy: Disarming Military Bases

Besides serving as a pretext for authoritarians to immediately start screeching about curtailing our indispensable gun rights, the Navy Yard massacre has something else in common with every mass shooting in this country since at least 1950 with the sole exception of Tucson: it happened in a gun-free zone. Due to our inability to learn from tragic mistakes, this piece is as relevant now as it was four years ago:

Time after time, public murder sprees occur in “gun-free zones” – public places where citizens are not legally able to carry guns. The list is long, including massacres at Virginia Tech and Columbine High School along with many less deadly attacks. Last week’s slaughter at Fort Hood Army base in Texas was no different – except that one man bears responsibility for the ugly reality that the men and women charged with defending America were deliberately left defenseless when a terrorist opened fire.

Among President Clinton’s first acts upon taking office in 1993 was to disarm U.S. soldiers on military bases. In March 1993, the Army imposed regulations forbidding military personnel from carrying their personal firearms and making it almost impossible for commanders to issue firearms to soldiers in the U.S. for personal protection. For the most part, only military police regularly carry firearms on base, and their presence is stretched thin by high demand for MPs in war zones.

Let me interrupt to point out that the draft-dodging Clinton has openly despised the military since at least as far back as an infamous 1969 letter in which he admitted to “loathing the military,” and as recently as the 2012 campaign, during which he denounced the Armed Forces for having been “racist,” “sexist,” and “homophobic” — the worst insults imaginable from the point of view of a liberal.

Because of Mr. Clinton, terrorists would face more return fire if they attacked a Texas Wal-Mart than the gunman faced at Fort Hood, home of the heavily armed and feared 1st Cavalry Division. That’s why a civilian policewoman from off base was the one whose marksmanship ended Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan’s rampage.

Lowering the moral bar for liberal politicians to somewhere beneath a gravid snake’s belly wasn’t Slick Willie’s only legacy after all.

How many have to die before authorities grasp the obvious lesson that bad guys will always acquire guns so good guys need to have them too?

Unfortunately, due to the killer being a sacred Muslim and the victims being mere military personnel, Fort Hood didn’t make much of an impression among the liberal ruling class. Appallingly politicized military brass doubled down on the political correctness that allowed it to happen. CNN anchor Carol Costello apparently succeeded at forgetting it completely. Given Aaron Alexis’s politically favored ethnicity, the Navy Yard shootings may also disappear down the official memory hole, leaving the establishment no wiser.

On tips from G. Fox.

It would be a perfect world if we could simply fill these “gun-free zones” with liberals.

  2. A. Levy says:

Why do liberal spokes-dolts always spew their anti-gun drivel after some asshole goes on a shooting rampage: “we don’t know the motive for the shooting, but we know it’s not terrorism.” If you don’t know how can they exclude terrorism?

  3. Estebrooks Reineke says:

No weapons on a military base? Only a leftist would come up with something so bassackwards.

  4. JamesJ says:

The Clinton’s made no bones about their “disdain” for the military.

  5. Gary Benson says:

Clinto was a Rhodes Scholar and works directly for the NWO. Well, they ALL do, or we would never be allowed to vote for them. They are all vetted beforehand.

Why does the “new world order” seem so incompetent? Why are they destroying instead of building? Why is this “secret world government” full of IDIOTS?

No dumbass, there IS NO SECRET GANG OF MOVERS AND SHAKERS; it’s the very IDIOTS WE ELECT who are screwing things up.

What else could we ever expect from a diirty,filthy,70s anti-war,draft dodger and low down filthy deemacratic maggot Him and the rest of his ilk deserve banished to outer siberia for life

  8. A. Levy says:

Among the top priorities of the far-left, and the communist party, are, 1) disarm the American people, and 2) weaken their military by (any) means possible.

We all know how desperately the Left is trying to find a way around the 2nd Amendment. We also know that with this Marxist administration, our military has been weakened and watered down, it’s ranks being filled with gays, females, and all lead by PC’ized armchair generals from DC.

  9. Jodie says:

Not to mention, if anyone in our government paved the way for the 9/11 World Trade Center attacks, it was Bill Clinton. He’s the one who gave everything to the Arabs and completely screwed Israel over.

George Bush was barely in power 8 months when the towers were attacked; these acts were planned way before he had any control. The pilots were trained years in advance. Employees (Islamic ones) were put into place in the government and airlines for years in anticipation of 9/11/2001.

  10. Jess1 says:

FYI, if by “Tuscon” you mean the shootings by Jared Lee Loughner, then yes, it too was a “gun free” zone – the Safeway had “no firearms” signage…

  11. Kelly says:

So I guess the obvious question would be, why the hell didn’t George W. Bush and the Republican congress get rid of this?

  12. RICH says:

Not just military bases. When I go to the Veterans Affairs building every 6 months, I’m confronted with a sign that reads: “For your safety, firearms are not allowed in this building.” Great ~ so the next time some lunatic decides to ignore that sign and go on a shooting rampage, they’ll have plenty of targets to shoot at, and I’ll somehow be safer because I won’t have my gun to protect myself or those around me. WTG America. We’re no longer citizens, but subjects living in the land of Moonbattery.

They kinda are already if you think about it..

BTW, It was Bush I who initially disarmed base personnel:

But what if it wasn’t true? Would you take it all back?
