Conservatism Versus Populism

The rise of Donald Trump has made it crucial that people understand the difference between conservatism and Americanism on one side, and populism and nationalism on the other. Mark Levin spells it out:

On a tip from Torcer.

No offense, but Conservatism “don’t mean doodley-squat” if you don’t have a country with borders. Wake up and look around you and stop listening to self-serving hysterics like Levin.

  4. 762x51 says:

Neither does populism or nationalism in a country run by Fascists. Your solution of becoming the enemy(supporting tRump) in order to defeat the enemy(Clinton) is a non-starter anyway you slice it.

National Socialism always starts as national populism. You can go on believing that there is a difference to be had between which fascist runs America, I don’t want one at all and so will vote for neither..

  5. Feet2Fire says:

People like you are traitors to America, because you think you’re so dang “righteous” and you cannot see the forest for the trees. It won’t matter about your friggin’ High MORAL ETHICS when our country’s destroyed.

Luckily, America has more people with some common sense and ability to perceive reality than there are people like you so-called “purists.”

  6. Willard the Newt says:

Levin, along with the rest of the “constitutional conservatives”, are soooo out-of-date. They have been rendered obsolete decades ago. Moreover “constitutional conservatism” has proven itself feckless as an oppositional force when put up against “progressivism.”
It’s past time for #NeverTrump cucks to realize there has been a paradigm shift. The fight is no longer between “progressivism” and “conservatism”, the fight is between nationalism and globalism. Whereas the GOPe and the Dems fight on the side of globalism and Trump is fighting on behalf of nationalism. Feet2Fire is essentially correct.

  7. Willard the Newt says:

Ben Shapiro is another mendacious hypocrite. He and his ilk (such as Mark Levin, Eric Erickson,Georgia Will et al ) will surely lead this country into a multicultural hellhole. These traitors all operate under the banner of “constitutional conservatism.”
“War”—Steve Bannon, BREITBART, Ben Shapiro, And What Comes Next
“War” was the late Andrew Breitbart’s one-word analysis of how American patriots should treat the Lying Press. It’s a war that’s continued even after his death, under the leadership of Steve Bannon. And, as in all wars, the self-declared guardians of “true conservatism” are eager to call retreat.

Leading the charge: the littlest neocon, Ben Shapiro, who, after a career spent posturing against Political Correctness and Safe Spaces, is now moaning about unapproved voices gaining ascendance within the American Right.

He ran to the Washington Post to complain that the “Breitbart Alt Right” had taken over the GOP following Steven Bannon’s elevation in the Trump campaign. Shapiro claims the Alt Right is different from “constitutional conservatism”:

Constitutional conservatives can’t stand the Alt Right. Conservatives—real conservatives—believe that only a philosophy of limited government, God-given rights and personal responsibility can save the country. And that creed is not bound to race or ethnicity. Broad swaths of the Alt Right, by contrast, believe in a creed-free, race-based nationalism, insisting, among other things, that birth on American soil confers superiority. The Alt Right sees limited-government constitutionalism as passé; it holds that only nationalist populism on the basis of shared tribal identity can save the country. It’s a movement shot through with racism and anti-Semitism.

[The Breitbart Alt Right just took over the GOP, Washington Post, August 18, 2016]</blockquote

But Breitbart is hardly an Alt Right site. The idea that one impartial article written about the Alt Right on Breitbart many months ago permanently labels the site as part of the movement simply shows the dominance of totalitarian Cultural Marxism.

Yea, author of this blog think we’re better off electing Clinton for 4 years followed by Cruz in 2020. Except after legalizing 30+ million 3rd world peasants there will be no Republican victory ever again. This is it. It’s either Trump, or this country is DONE. Gone. Bye bye. After 4 years of Clinton the progressives will have exclusive hold on power and there will be no going back short of a revolution.

  9. JeffersonSpinningInGrave says:

Sadly, there seems to be as much lack of understanding among Americans these days as there tends to be between Americans and leftists.

I cannot speak for everyone, but I think this goes for many who are worried about Trump. Many of us, first and foremost, just want to be left the hell alone to live our lives as we wish, understanding that by insisting on this we take responsibility for our own well-being, and also agree not to harm others.

Further, we recognize that demanding that others respect our autonomy as individuals behooves us to respect the autonomy of other individuals in turn, up to and including coming together to fight against those who trample the individual rights of others. It is an essentially individualist orientation, a spirit the founders of this nation shared in large measure.

Populism, regardless of the principles with which any given populist movement begins, is essentially collectivist in orientation. Collectivist movements tend not to respect the autonomy of individuals. In essence, they are authoritarian.

I will probably hold my nose and vote for Trump, because while Trump makes me nervous, he at least says the right things, most of the time. On the other hands, most of what Hillary says scares the hell out of me. I can understand the willingness to risk creating one monster to destroy the one that already has it’s claws in us. But the devotion many people have for Trump makes me very uneasy. Many dark times in history have started exactly this way.

conservatism helps the rich who don’t need help populism helps everybody who are not rich who do need help.

  11. 762x51 says:

So in your demented world, people with “common sense” are the ones who “perceive reality”? Well junior, perceive this reality, your boy is a Progressive, no different than Hillary Clinton and you are an imbecile who cannot “perceive” that little slice of reality.

    Your boy is pro abortion.
Your boy is pro higher taxes.
Your boy is pro government run healthcare.
    Your boy is a narcissist.
    Your boy is a fascist.

Maybe you should look into having some moral values of your own, it might help in making these difficult decisions.

As calling me a traitor, you little fascist fuck, you should be more careful, you know not with whom you fuck.

  12. 762x51 says:

Hey, the return of Troll Maggot, thought I smelled something.

So maggot, hows the cardboard shooting coming along? You and your merry band of pussy’s engage any dangerous ones lately?

You know that the offer of single combat is open to any and all fascists, not just you. All of you dirty bastards have to be killed or driven out anyway, might as well get started.

    Hands up, don’t shoot, maggot.

  13. 762x51 says:

Well, as f2f says, we can’t have a country of “high moral values”, clearly he and the other tRumptards like Maggot are against moral values.

Their Progressive ideology demands 100% conformity and any who fall short must be destroyed. That is how you know it is a Progressive ideology. Fascism is always the same, Nazi-fascism, Islamo-fascism, Progressive-fascism both the D and the R flavors.

In the 10,000 or more generations of humans before 1776, nearly every single person lived as a slave of one sort or another their entire lives. In all of human history, only a tiny fraction of people have been able to say they lived free, those lucky enough to be born in America in the last 240 years. No one alive today earned that freedom on their own, it was earned by and passed on to them by preceding generations. The men who stood in the door of the landing craft at Normandy and Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima and other places earned that freedom for you and I. Hundreds of thousands of them paid for it with their lives. It is our duty to pass that same freedom on to the next generation. Any break in the chain condemns future generations to slavery. I will not tolerate having that on my conscience. Must be those “high moral vales” the progtard so easily denigrates.

I will not shirk my duty and oath to the Constitution nor will I dishonor my fallen brothers or permit the enslavement of generations yet unborn. My creed is to close with, engage and destroy the enemies of the United States in close combat, doesn’t say a word about holding my nose and giving in to them to stay out of harms way.

These imbeciles cannot see past November, I’m looking at the next thousand years. The really stupid thing is that they see it as tRump or war, we know it is war, regardless, so why shame yourself in the process?

  14. Feet2Fire says:

“You know not” that people are FED UP with your self-righteous BS and don’t even read your cr*p any more.
    Sayonara, PUNK!

  15. Feet2Fire says:

And I don’t even use the term “nationalism” or think in those terms so much as “individualism” and “freedom.” Trump represents self-determination; Hillary and her ilk represent dependence on a paternalistic, all-powerful (increasingly repressive) government.

–The choice is EASY, despite what some hand-wringers here and elsewhere seem to think and keep whining about.

  16. Feet2Fire says:

Ben Shapiro is a whiny little sissy who needs to learn to slow down and THINK before he speaks at 300wpm. His siding with that goofy girl with the “injured arm” against Corey was a BIG mistake. Live and learn, Ben.

  20. JeffersonSpinningInGrave says:

I am more and more afraid that you are right that some form of serious upheaval, both domestic and international, may be unavoidable at this point. Regarding Trump vs. Hillary, I at least think Trump is more likely than not to stand up to the spread of Islamism. Hillary will actively sell us out, just as Obama has done (that she would do it mostly for personal gain where Obama has done it mostly out of hatred for America might make some difference).

  21. 762x51 says:

A strawman argument, the staple of Progressives everywhere. You sound just like Barack Obama when you do that, cardboard shooter,

Checking back, I don’t see where I have ever made even the remotest reference of any such claim, therefore you are a liar. Though I, at least, have the courage to shoot against targets that shoot back and don’t require a walk through of the course of fire first. That means I do leave you in the dust, not much of an accomplishment given your weak character and pathetic skill set, but enough to make appear even more foolish ever time you open your sperm receptacle, the one on your face, that is.

  22. feet2fireBlowstRump. says:

    Go funk yourself , pussy.

  23. 762x51 says:

No reason for you to tremble pussy, we already know you are too cowardly to actually meet in person and back up your bullshit. You are only tough against cardboard, wet cardboard that is.

  24. 762x51 says:

Unfortunately, I am right, it is unavoidable now. I wish that weren’t true, but it is.

Regardless of which side of the Progressive uni-party “wins” in Nov., there will be civil war. That is why I don’t worry about the election, just the fight afterward. Eradicating Progressives is my sole focus because it is the only way to stop this descent into slavery.

I think your assessment of Hillary and Obama’s motives is correct, tRump would sell us out for personal glory to placate his narcissism. By sell us out I mean put us under his authoritarian fascism and destroy the Constitution as he has indicated he is predisposed to doing already. As I have said, the flavor of fascism is irrelevant. No one cares whether they die in a Nazi concentration camp, an Islamo-fascist prison or as a slave to an authoritarian Progressive or a money grubbing Progressive dictator.

  25. 762x51 says:

    Loser, loser, AAWWWWKKKKK!!! little parrot.

Tell you what maggot, I accept, I’ll fire the first shot, all you have to do is show up, ok? It is your challenge this time and I accept. One on one, come on pussy, bring your cardboard shooting pistol and let’s settle this. I know a nice open area of many square miles where you can’t call for help, I mean where no one else will get hurt by your mediocre shooting.

Gutless fucktard parrot. You haven’t got the balls and you know it.

  26. Troll Magnet says:

you sure obsess a lot about sperm in mouth…

  27. Duncan Druhl says:

Levin is correct citing the corrosive aspect to Liberty and Choice by Fabian Socialism, the next best thing to Germany fascism, as all Nazi was is socialism with a nationalistic German flavour thrown in. Nazi was very populist; Stalin and Mussolini were huge favourites amongst the “progressives” of the 30’s, as was Hitler at that time. And in the end, guys, if you want to have choices, individualism is the only route as the rest will tell you what your choices might be, not the ability to make them.

  28. 762x51 says:
