Cory Booker: I Want to Ban Guns

We’ve heard it from Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Committee Dianne Feinstein:

If I could have gotten 51 votes in the Senate of the United States for an outright ban, picking up every one of them... 'Mr. and Mrs. America, turn 'em all in,' I would have done it. - Dianne Feinstein

Here it is in somewhat jumbled form from inarticulate presidential candidate Cory Booker, with a few dozen uh’s removed by Grabien. In answer to the question “Would you ban guns?”:

“I am very much one that is against handguns. And I know, in my urban environment, I see little to no need for guns at all, and I think that the availability of guns and the ease with which even young people can get their hands on them is just horrendous, and I would, if I had the power to do so, I would. In fact, we’re even looking towards making, doing some local level handgun legislation. I’m going to take every step I can to get guns [out] of the hands of those who commit crimes or those who might commit crimes.”

When explicitly set apart from “those who commit crimes,” the phrase “those who might commit crimes” means law-abiding citizens.

You can’t support both the right of self-defense and the Democratic Party.

On a tip from Jester.
