Defunded LAPD Wastes $Millions on Unused Moonbatmobiles

Earlier this month, the Los Angeles City Council pandered to the violent Black Lives Matter/Antifa mob by approving a $150 million cut to the LAPD’s budget, a mistake that will make maintaining public order in the rapidly deteriorating city more difficult than ever. Maybe the LAPD could scrape by — if it could just stop wasting money.

In 2017, the department launched a $10 million pilot program to get government employees to drive politically trendy electric cars — not relatively affordable Chevys, but BMWs, because taxpayers have plenty of money.

CBSN Los Angeles wondered what happened to the overpriced moonbatmobiles. They obtained mileage reports and found that the cars have hardly been used.

The LAPD says that part of the reason for low mileage is the cars were used by civilian volunteers. That program has been stopped because of the coronavirus.

At least now they can stop wasting money they don’t have on this extravagant not to mention moronic virtue signaling, right? Wrong:

While the department wouldn’t comment on camera they did tell us the leases won’t expire until 2022 and 2023 – meaning the city is stuck with the cars whether they use them or not.

The profligate waste reminds us that if liberal local politicians cut funding to the police, the motive is not frugality; it is malice.

Do you want public order or do you want public waste? If people have the sense to ask themselves this question before voting, we won’t need to worry about radicalized Democrats doing to the whole country what they have been doing to Los Angeles.
