Does GOP Have Guts to Stop Obama’s Amnesty Decree?

Here we go again. Regarding his clearly intolerable not to mention unconstitutional plan to impose amnesty for millions of largely welfare-dependent foreigners by executive decree, Obama is once again playing chicken with the GOP, smug in his belief that Republicans would rather veer off the road and crash into a ditch than stand up to his extremely unpopular agenda and risk a collision in the form of a harmless government shutdown.

A bloc of Republican lawmakers is seeking to use must-pass spending legislation in the final weeks of the year to place limits on President Barack Obama ’s ability to loosen immigration rules, threatening to split the party in Congress.

Mr. Obama has said that he would act unilaterally by year’s end to change immigration policy, likely by giving many illegal immigrants new protections against deportation. Republicans and some Democrats have said Mr. Obama shouldn’t act without congressional approval.

Now, some Republicans are pushing for Congress to make a move before Mr. Obama does. More than 50 House lawmakers have signed a letter saying that language barring the president from acting alone should be attached to legislation needed to keep the government operating after Dec. 11, when its current funding expires.

Sounds like a no-brainer. The Founding Fathers gave Congress the power of the purse so as to defend the country from wannabe dictators like Obama. However…

Others in the party, including GOP leaders, are wary of forcing a budget showdown with the president over the issue, saying voters are eager for politicians to work together. Sen. Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.), who is poised to become Senate majority leader in January, has said flatly that there will be no government shutdown like the one in 2013 that was politically harmful to his party.

What kind of an idiot goes into a showdown announcing in advance that his gun is loaded with blanks?

The real struggle now is not between Republicans and Democrats, but between Republicans with the character to rise to the mandate the 2014 election gave them to stop Obama before he destroys the country, and those who just want to go along to get along while the ship sinks under the waves, bleating fatuously about “working together” until the very moment that the cold seawater fills their open mouths.

stop-obama
The message from voters was obvious.

Republicans sending another letter to the Democrats. Well, that has been highly effective in the past…NOT!

Besides Obama (on foreign policy), and RINOs like McConnell, and Boehner?

By proposing this legislation the GOP is saying they do not believe the Constitution is valid. If it is unconstitutional for Obama to do this and if he does it, then do the constitutional thing to deal with him. They don’t want to and they won’t. So they try to cover his ass with this silly little tactic. It is unnecessary to propose and pass as it already exists; it is called The Constitution. Let him give amnesty to all these illegals. That just moves them into legal and documented immigrant green card status. Once Obama it dealt with constitutionally, do not renew any of these amnesty immigrant’s paperwork and visas. Deport. Bye Bye.

Funny but reminds me of my pet peeve about cartoons and Obama. They almost never, ever actually look like him. Oh, the big ears are thrown on and maybe the hairline, but look at this face; resembles not the guy in the WH. Caricature or not, it should look just like him but nobody will do it.

I don’t care if they have to shut the govt down to stop this illegal amnesty. The problem is I have no faith the GOP is going to do it,it’s just talk but no walk. Unfortunately by the time Obama is done we won’t recognize this country anymore.

I hope Obama does it. The Republicans will have two options, Impeach now or wait until they take both houses. They shouldn’t worry about a backlash from voters they never get. In fact I think this may be the only safe option the Republicans have.

Am I mistaken, or can’t the House pass funding bills for each agency separately to avoid shutting down any part of government other than the agencies in question?

This is last opportunity, either they stop him we must stop him. Personally, I have little hope that the likes of Boehner and McConnell will do a damn thing.

The GOP doesn’t have the stones to TP the White House trees much less take a stand against this Marxist Dictator prick.

There is a funding CR in place until Dec. 11th. If they have any courage they will fight them then because I suppose the Demotards will want all of 2015 funded before they lose control of the Senate in January.

Amnesty is a done deal, Obama will put it in effect illegally via royal decree, and Congress will fold as they have countless times over the last 6 years. It is up to us to stop this criminal.

You are right though, they could do this in small pieces and drive him nuts, that would be worth watching. The farther you push this narcissistic sociopath the more likely you are to see his true nature – totalitarian dictator.

The problem is that they need 66 votes in the Senate 2/3, to convict and will only have 54 votes at most because it will be a straight party line vote.

They don’t even have enough votes to override a veto, much less get an impeachment conviction.

See the Constitution, Article 1, Section 3 and Article 1 Section 7, Clause 3 for more info.
