Fast & Furious Motive Becomes More Obvious

Too often missing from Fast & Furious coverage is the most appalling aspect of the scandal — the motive, which apparently was to undermine our Second Amendment liberties:

ATF officials didn’t intend to publicly disclose their own role in letting Mexican cartels obtain the weapons, but emails show they discussed using the sales, including sales encouraged by ATF, to justify a new gun regulation called “Demand Letter 3”. That would require some U.S. gun shops to report the sale of multiple rifles or “long guns.” Demand Letter 3 was so named because it would be the third ATF program demanding gun dealers report tracing information.

Gun dealers, attempting the impossible task of behaving responsibly and at the same time obeying our rogue government, saw what was coming:

In April, 2010 a licensed gun dealer cooperating with ATF was increasingly concerned about selling so many guns. “We just want to make sure we are cooperating with ATF and that we are not viewed as selling to the bad guys,” writes the gun dealer to ATF Phoenix officials, “(W)e were hoping to put together something like a letter of understanding to alleviate concerns of some type of recourse against us down the road for selling these items.” …

Two months later, the same gun dealer grew more agitated.

“I wanted to make sure that none of the firearms that were sold per our conversation with you and various ATF agents could or would ever end up south of the border or in the hands of the bad guys. I guess I am looking for a bit of reassurance that the guns are not getting south or in the wrong hands… I want to help ATF with its investigation but not at the risk of agents (sic) safety because I have some very close friends that are US Border Patrol agents in southern AZ as well as my concern for all the agents (sic) safety that protect our country.”

“It’s like ATF created or added to the problem so they could be the solution to it and pat themselves on the back,” says one law enforcement source familiar with the facts. “It’s a circular way of thinking.”

Creating a problem so that they can make a bigger problem with their ham-fisted attempts to fix it is Big Government’s M.O. to a T.

On July 12, 2011, Sen. [Charles] Grassley [R-IA] and Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., wrote Attorney General Eric Holder, whose Justice Department oversees ATF. They asked Holder whether officials in his agency discussed how “Fast and Furious could be used to justify additional regulatory authorities.” So far, they have not received a response. …

“In light of the evidence, the Justice Department’s refusal to answer questions about the role Operation Fast and Furious was supposed to play in advancing new firearms regulations is simply unacceptable,” Rep. Issa told CBS News.

No wonder Obama is willing to resort to the extremely desperate measure of inappropriately exerting executive privilege to keep F&F documents from becoming public. If they confirm that he explicitly approved providing weapons to foreign drug cartels so that he could use the inevitably ensuing bloodshed to undermine the Constitution he is sworn to uphold, he should be tried for treason.

Hope & Change has been running up a body count. Via Freedom’s Phoenix.

Now, now. Pelosi said all this is really about is voter suppression.

Excellent. We’ll need all that extra juice to deal with the convicted traitors once this is all said and done and the trials have run their course.

Oh, wait, there is no justice inside the Beltway.

    Spot on, Dave.

Lately, the only word we’ve been hearing about during all of this is ‘impeachment’, for which there are certainly grounds. But treason is the more powerful and accurate description of what’s going on here. And I’m proud that at least one of my Senators (Grassley) is asking the questions.

Yes, sort of like “Global Warming”, the “Stimulus” etc.

Never let a good crisis go to waste…..

In all seriousness, does any adult NOT know what is going on here? Barry and Holder are racist enemies of what used to be a great country. It’s as plain as day. There are no “if’s” here.

Also as plain as day is that NOTHING, not a GD thing, is going to come of this. They murdered 2 Americans, and the most that can be hoped for is Holder resigning. That’s it.

The “conservative” talk show world is still trying to “figure this out”. And boy, if it “turns out” that Barry and Holder were actually trying to…AAAAAAARGH!!. I can’t take this anymore.

This act of treason signals the end of america. Electing Mittens will do nothing but slow the pace a tiny bit. This is depressing beyond words.

If there were any who doubt that both sides are the same, this should put your mind to rest, and allow you to get back to “Survivor” without a care in the world.

I’ve asked God to help us, but I fear he couldn’t care less about a people who couldn’t care less. Welcome to South Africa…

Not to be confused with a gun running scandal of the same name, it denotes the Obama Regime’s headlong dash to destroy America’s capitalism and the inalienable individual liberty it empowers…

Reminds me of Homer Simpson’s now famous line:

“Beer. The cause of, and the solution to, all of life’s little problems.”

Except we’re not talking about beer in this context. We’re talking about the Constitutional rights of every American. We’re talking about the Attorney General of the United States, and quite possibly the President.

You’re right, the entire gang should be tried for treason. Sadly this country has been overrun and accountability has no meaning anymore. I pray someday I can eat these words but the writing on the wall says GET READY.

  16. Alphamail says:

Remember at the onset of this fiasco the massive numbers of new weapons in Mexico was blamed on the private sector in America…..Guns were so prolific they were drifting south, gun advocates were smuggling guns south for the money, gun laws were so lax they faciltated the process, the NRA was responsible, etc.

Some conservative conspiracy theorists contended it was the culmination of Obama’s anti-gun agenda, his background on Boards such as the Joyce Foundation, his desire to eliminate the 2nd Amendment, and they actually intimated he may have been involved in faciltating the movement of weapons.

Why is it the left can’t get a conspiracy theory right and the right can’t get one wrong?

  17. Sam Adams says:

STL, if you don’t see a significant difference between Obama and Romney, you need professional help. Yes, Mitt isn’t the conservative we wanted, but he is a whole lot better than having a lawless communist as CIC.

BTW, President Romney would be well advised to start his administration by eliminating ATF, EPA, DOE, DOE as a start.

  18. Jodie says:

In keeping with his agenda, Obama has been arming the rebels in Mexico, Egypt, and Libya. Now, he’s arming the Syrian rebels. Of course, all the while, he’s trying to disarm Americans. Everything is proceeding as planned.

“A secret CIA effort to vet rebel forces fighting the Syrian government and help U.S. allies steer arms toward factions likely to be sympathetic to American interests is fraught with dangers not seen in other recent clandestine operations, policy analysts said.

Central Intelligence Agency officers reportedly have been working from southern Turkey since March to advise Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates which elements of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) they should arm with weaponry that includes rocket-propelled grenades and automatic rifles.”

  19. Marian says:

Job description for politicians: get elected, become secretive and deceptive, finagle tons of money from taxpaying citizens and special interests, get re-elected, lie to honest Americans to stay in office, put self-interest above everything else while conspiring against honest people who elected you to office, lie, lie, lie, and never, ever hold other politicians responsible for criminal, treasonous actions. Finally, kiss the media’s asses and screw the American people and the Constitution.

  20. Hedgehog says:

Don’t forget the U.N. Convention of Small Arms. Hillary has promised to push that abomination through the Senate. They needed just the right “crisis” to push that through, and Fast and Furious was the vehicle for creating just the right kind of “crisis”. And international crisis that results from violence in Mexico traceable to guns from the U.S. And if you think those people have any compunction about letting a few thousand people in Mexico get killed in order to achieve their ends, you had better give your head a shake and wake up.

  21. grayjohn says:

    Come and take them.

  22. Katya Kakhov says:

Wait till “they” get around to discovering Jaimie Zapata and his connection to the same thing running out of Texas . Not to mention the spike in weapons sales to Mx.Mil from 2008-2010 that went from $3m to $58million(more than half of which ended up in cartel hands)

All the while the number of dead in Mexico is somehow stuck on two hundred .(down from 300) Maybe Chicago should apply whatever measures the Mexican govt used to get this result . Give away 40 odd thousand rifles to cartel sicarios and yet only 300 deaths ? Not bad !

Just remember this was all pushed into the spotlight by a message board and a pair of bloggers , one ,who at one point scooped all of the LSM from a hospital bed with an MRS infection .

And he did it for free . This is what they mean when they say ” We are Breitbart “

  23. Sweep the leg says:

    @ Sam A

No I don’t see a significant difference between the two. Just recently, Romney – you know, “our” guy – pandered to Mexicans and told them “If you earn a degree, I’ll give you a green card with it!! Please describe how this is in anyone’s interest but this phony…I’ll wait…

He also will not repeal Obamacare. Or Barry’s recent gift of amnesty.

As for eliminating ANY Gub’mint agencies, If you think that is going to happen, I’m afraid it’s you that needs the professional help.

Yes he’s “better”. But at this point, being just slightly to the right of the lawless, racist, POS, is way less than what is needed. He clearly has no core beliefs that he won’t trade for votes.

Yup, I’m voting for him. But I’m voting for anyone other than Barry…

you give him too much credit for orchestrating this complex plan — I think he knew about it but did not direct or supervise it, but is now concerned a mere whiff of scandal will affect his blessed coronation. He is hiding something big with the executive privilege — think about it: usually when cornered 1, 2, or however many is necesary close friends/trusted advisors are promptly flattened by the ‘nothing to see here, folks’ bus. To actually stand by someone in his organization is foreign to him, gotta be another explanation.

  27. Its like you read my mind! You appear to know so much about this, such as you wrote the book in it or something. I feel that you simply can do with a few p.c. to drive the message home a bit, but instead of that, that is excellent blog. An excellent read. I’ll certainly be back.
