FEC Bid to Regulate Political Speech on the Internet

What if the federal government abruptly suspended the fundamental liberties that have defined this country for centuries? Would we resist? Or would we grumble but comply? We may be very close to finding out. Yesterday the Federal Election Commission held an alarming hearing to gauge how much pushback they will get if they impose regulations on the content of political speech on the Internet…

According to Commissioner [Lee] Goodman, who served as chairman of the FEC last year, regulation of content placed on the Internet is a very real possibility.

“The commission has seen proposals to regulate even issue advocacy referencing federal candidates that is disseminated on the Internet,” Goodman told CNSNews.com.

“That could reach YouTube videos, blogs, and websites like [the] Drudge Report,” he warned.

If authoritarians don’t deny our First Amendment rights to express our views on the Internet through the FEC, they will use some other agency:

Democrats have long supported regulating political content on the Internet, but have generally sought to do so using the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

The question isn’t if or when fascistic Democrats will crush free speech on the Web. We know the answers are “yes” and “as soon as they have the political leverage.” The question is what we will do about it.

What is with all the leftist hate of Drudge? The Drudge Report just puts up links – often to leftist or mainstream (I’m being repetitive there) sites. They dig up the odd articles where leftist, globalist lunatics are proudly telling what they’d like to do.

So how can, say, the NYTimes post an article wherein some UN loon says, “We’re going to take money from the West and give it to the 3rd World to fight global warming,” and that’s all hunky-dory, but when Drudge puts up a link to that article he’s doing something wrong?

The left putting the breaks on free speech found on the internet, might be the incentive for us to push away from the key board and actually go and jack these a@#holes up. The Government thugs will be making a huge mistake with this plan, because a lot of us will go underground where tracking and monitoring will be harder to do.

They want lots of speech: God-hating, militant atheist, militant baby-murdering, militant homosexual, angry anti-Christ speech, any speech that destroys America, etc. No speech respectful of the God of the Bible, Jesus Christ and His truth of being the ONLY Way, no no no! None of that intolerant, non-inclusive speech.

And no political speech supporting any candidate with any respect for Americas traditional culture or Christianity will be TOLERATED!

Judgement is coming to America. The islamic sword of satan will be at the throats of the fools that have rejected God’s protection soon.

It’s been a good run, but the days of Moonbattery (and all other non-progressive speech) on the internet are numbered. The left, driven by Satan, will keep pushing until they achieve total victory…for a little while.

There’s already a solution out there.  There is an anonymous peer-to-peer e-mail system called Bote that seems to operate much the way Usenet did (and does).  Without any central sites to censor, what could the FEC and FCC do?

BitTorrent showed the way, we just need to move everything to P2P and give the central censors the heave-ho (and cut off both their ad revenues and all their spying).

If you can connect anyone to a source of un-censored news, the more the authorities squeezed the more insipid the corrupt marxist media would look and the more people would be hungry for an alternative.  The government’s censors would lose their hold as people’s attention squeezed through their fingers like mud.
