Fifth Grader Gets Third Degree for Paper Gun

The hysterical hoplophobia goes on and on:

A Philadelphia fifth grader was admonished by school officials and called “murderer” by classmates for bringing a piece of paper that looked like a gun to school.

Melody Valentin was searched by a school official in front of Newlin Fell Elementary School classmates last week, she told Fox 29 in Philadelphia.

“He yelled at me and said I shouldn’t have brought the gun to school and I kept telling him it was a paper gun but he wouldn’t listen,” Melody said.

The “gun” looked something like this:

Taking yet another page out of 1984, liberal authorities have recruited children to participate in their anti-gun witch hunt.

Melody didn’t realize the piece of paper was still on her person when she took it out of her pocket. A classmate saw the “gun” and reported it to the school official.

“I’m waking up at 3 o’clock in the morning, and my daughter is in the bathroom, crying,” [Melody’s mother] Dianna Kelly said. “She said ‘I’m having nightmares. I’m having dreams that he’s chasing me down the street.'”

At least Melody managed to learn something in a government school: a healthy fear of our irrational moonbat ruling class.

On a tip from Mickey Shea.

Uh oh, I have six reams of copy paper and each is four guns. Sh! Don’t let it get out I have this HUGE stockpile of guns in the home. Hmmm, this is going to make is a bit sticky to answer the doctor’s when they ask how many guns are in the home!

  2. Doug says:

Lookee here, at all them guns!

You suppose they will ban him from schools?

  3. Jeanettesca says:

Hell’s bells! This entire country has gone crazy. Why don’t all these sanctimonious libs who claim they’re doing everything “for the children” care about they kids they are traumatizing with these asinine witch hunts? Makes me sick!

  4. justme says:

Home schooling anyone? I think about some of the stupidity I went to school with and the teachers who had unfettered access to underage children – shudder.

  5. mimi says:

    team melody!

  6. Skyfall says:

Got that now? Schools teach kids:

    (a) Homosexual “marriage” is a normal lifestyle choice, and two daddies or two mommies are wonderful.

    (b) The world is dying from too many people…and people cause ‘global warming’.

    (c) Religion is just a silly, bronze-age myth (but Islam is to be revered).

    (d) All guns, in any circumstances, for any reasons are BAD and KILL NICE PEOPLE AND KITTENS and should be feared and shunned and anyone WITH a gun should be ostracized from our midst.

Yeah…should be about another five years and the “fundamental transformation” of America will be complete.

  7. Doug says:

    Skyfall, you forgot one…..

    (e) Anthropogenic Global Warming is a proven fact and the only way to save the planet is to destroy capitalism. Kids, turn your parents in for the slightest infraction to the authorities.

  8. Henry says:

Just absurd. I’d say sue the school, but then the taxpayers will be on the hook, and it’s not their fault that some schmuck principal and administrators have no sense whatsoever.

  9. mojo says:

“School official” likely to have an unfortunate encounter with a sidewalk, if it was my daughter.

  10. Mr Evilwrench says:

A piece of paper with the corner torn out of it. Represents a gun. I’ve heard of “reaching”, but man, this is just… beyond.

  11. Jodie says:

It appears to be one of those guns that fires the child seeking bullets. They should throw the book at Melody./sarc

I thought there was zero tolerance for bullying….

    …one more reason why I home-schooled for 20 years

    Skyfall……..and justme

You’re right Skyfall, about the transformation being near complete. I’ve posted this twice today and am going to put it in tonight’s Open Thread.

Being so focused on race (which MUST happen for Obama to succeed) can draw our focus away from the one or two main issues which underlie that transformation. Those issues then sail under the radar (ie: Rahm).

When Obama’s Federal School Curriculum was announced I wrote on every website I could find, that Ayers would be a part of it. I cited the Obama/Ayers history and I included a link where he and US Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and Under Secretary of Education Martha Kanter were the three speakers at a large education seminar in Arlington, Virginia, with Ayers getting the most speaking time.

No one listened because it centers on boring ideology.

The transformation is complete when there is no home or private schooling, when children are tracked, and when the local level is replaced by the feds. Imagine $4.3 billion in the hands of Bill Ayers with a curriculum like that…………Never mind imagining it – read about it.

    Brief schedule announcement:

    Transformation complete:

  14. Kevin R. says:

There is no humanity in those people.

  15. Jodie says:

I wouldn’t put anything past Bill Ayers. He is at the root of much evil. There is some suspicion of him in relation to the death of Andrew Breitbart – who died on 3/1/12 – after having dinner at the home of Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn on 2/5/12. Could Breitbart have swallowed something that was triggered later – like the night before he was going to release a video which was said to be damaging for Obama? And why did the LA Coroner die of arsenic poisoning the day of the announcement of the cause of death?

I don’t know if Ayers and Dohrn did anything in this case, but I do know that they are evil people and don’t mind breaking a law or two.

Here is an article about the dinner. By the likes of the comments, I don’t think I’m the only one who is suspicious of Ayers in this. There is a video of Breitbart talking about the dinner. Listen to how he talks about Ayers and Dorn:

“While you’re doing that, we want to let you know of a dinner Breitbart recently had with Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn at their Hyde Park residence Super Bowl Sunday. Conservative pundit Tucker Carlson, editor-in-chief of The Daily Caller, won a December online auction for a dinner party with the couple. Carlson donated $2,500 to the Illinois Humanities Council for the chance to dine with them.”

  16. KHarn says:

“Finger guns” are also taboo. They’ll have to ban the TV show “Glee” because of its logo.

This is part of the communist plan, “confuse and terrify”. That’s not my OPPINION, I learned that from communists in my youth.

  17. Eleanor in Hell says:

That’s the sort of idiocy you’d find in a city like New York with a Mayor named Doomberg… or in Philadelphia with a Mayor named Nutter.

    Where was this?

    Oh, nevermind.

  18. Kevin R. says:

KHarn, that’s absolutely correct. I knew a self admitted communist a few decades ago. He said that they must create confusion and chaos because in confusion and chaos a smart man can take total control.

Not my idea of smart, his.

  19. Mike T says:

Uh… that is a piece of paper. So let me get this straight, any random ‘L’ shaped item can now be described as a gun? Ok, got it.

  20. fall of the comfort whores says:

I’m frightened by that piece of paper. I’m praying to Imam Hussein the Immaculate© to smote that piece of paper.

  21. Winston Smith says:

When I was a kid back in the late 70s and early 80s everyone had cap guns. Today we would have all been sent to some government re-education shrink and have our “guns” taken away and destroyed. Funny that back then there were no school shootings at all. School shooting ramped up in the early 90s after the first assault weapons ban and stronger gun control laws were put into effect.

The real reason for these shooting is most kids get no moral and/or spiritual guidance that teaches them the possible eternal damnation they may face when they die. Todays kids are fatalistic and figure if they kill people it wont matter since when they die everything just goes black. If they are wrong about that? Wouldnt wanna be them!

  22. whotothewhat says:

When I read this earlier about the kids in her class turning on her and threaten her like programmed little Hitler Youth. WOW the leftist scum that control our schools have done a remarkable job of brainwashing. Now all that is left is for me to be crossing a street in some city and have a group of leftist Pod People point me out and start chasing me.

  23. grayjohn says:

Everyone involved with this needs to be fired and never allowed to work around kids again. They should ALL be classed as dangerously mentally ill and treatd accordingly.

  24. Python says:

Issues must be clearly stated before a solution can be found…’s a dad who has stated the issue clearly………….

Guess our national leaders didn’t expect this. On Thursday, Darrell Scott, the father of Rachel Scott, a victim of the Columbine High School shootings in Littleton, Colorado, was invited to address the House Judiciary Committee’s subcommittee. What he said to our national leaders during this special session of Congress was painfully truthful.

They were not prepared for what he was to say, nor was it received well. It needs to be heard by every parent, every teacher, every politician, every sociologist, every psychologist, and every so-called expert! These courageous words spoken by Darrell Scott are powerful, penetrating, and deeply personal. There is no doubt that God sent this man as a voice crying in the wilderness.. The following is a portion of the transcript:

“Since the dawn of creation there has been both good &evil in the hearts of men and women. We all contain the seeds of kindness or the seeds of violence. The death of my wonderful daughter, Rachel Joy Scott, and the deaths of that heroic teacher, and the other eleven children who died must not be in vain. Their blood cries out for answers.

“The first recorded act of violence was when Cain slew his brother Abel out in the field. The villain was not the club he used.. Neither was it the NCA, the National Club Association. The true killer was Cain, and the reason for the murder could only be found in Cain’s heart.

“In the days that followed the Columbine tragedy, I was amazed at how quickly fingers began to be pointed at groups such as the NRA. I am not a member of the NRA. I am not a hunter. I do not even own a gun. I am not here to represent or defend the NRA – because I don’t believe that they are responsible for my daughter’s death. Therefore I do not believe that they need to be defended. If I believed they had anything to do with Rachel’s murder I would be their strongest opponent

I am here today to declare that Columbine was not just a tragedy — it was a spiritual event that should be forcing us to look at where the real blame lies! Much of the blame lies here in this room. Much of the blame lies behind the pointing fingers of the accusers themselves. I wrote a poem just four nights ago that expresses my feelings best.

Your laws ignore our deepest needs,
    Your words are empty air.
    You’ve stripped away our heritage,
    You’ve outlawed simple prayer.
    Now gunshots fill our classrooms,
    And precious children die.
    You seek for answers everywhere,
    And ask the question “Why?”
    You regulate restrictive laws,
    Through legislative creed.
And yet you fail to understand,
That God is what we need!

“Men and women are three-part beings. We all consist of body, mind, and spirit. When we refuse to acknowledge a third part of our make-up, we create a void that allows evil, prejudice, and hatred to rush in and wreak havoc. Spiritual presences were present within our educational systems for most of our nation’s history. Many of our major colleges began as theological seminaries. This is a historical fact.
What has happened to us as a nation? We have refused to honor God, and in so doing, we open the doors to hatred and violence. And when something as terrible as Columbine’s tragedy occurs — politicians immediately look for a scapegoat such as the NRA. They immediately seek to pass more restrictive laws that contribute to erode away our personal and private liberties. We do not need more restrictive laws.
Eric and Dylan would not have been stopped by metal detectors. No amount of gun laws can stop someone who spends months planning this type of massacre. The real villain lies within our own hearts.

“As my son Craig lay under that table in the school library and saw his two friends murdered before his very eyes, he did not hesitate to pray in school. I defy any law or politician to deny him that right! I challenge every young person in America , and around the world, to realize that on April 20, 1999, at Columbine High School prayer was brought back to our schools. Do not let the many prayers offered by those students be in vain. Dare to move into the new millennium with a sacred disregard for legislation that violates your God-given right to communicate with Him.
To those of you who would point your finger at the NRA — I give to you a sincere challenge.. Dare to examine your own heart before casting the first stone!
My daughter’s death will not be in vain! The young people of this country will not allow that to happen!”
    – Darrell Scott
Do what the media did not – – let the nation hear this man’s speech. Please send this out to everyone you can.
