Five Favorite Moonbat Stats Debunked

Normally the Christmas season is for giving, but sometimes it’s more fun to take things away. John Hawkins snatches from screaming liberals five of their favorite phony statistics by debunking them:

1) One in five college-age women have been raped. How do you create a “rape epidemic” that isn’t actually happening? Easy. You don’t ask women if they’ve been raped; you just expand the definition of rape so much that you define merely unpleasant events or worse yet, even consensual acts as rape.

With rare exceptions, the entire so-called rape epidemic is moonbat propaganda that belongs on the Hate Hoax List.

2) Spousal abuse skyrockets on Super Bowl Sunday. This myth comes from misrepresentations made by liberals back in 1993.

Libs may run the NFL, but they still hate football. Masculine aggression frightens them.

3) Fifty percent of marriages end in divorce. If you get married at this point, especially to a college-educated woman over the age of 25, it’ll probably be for life.

But destroying the family through corrosive propaganda has always been a high priority for progressive social engineers. Bringing us to…

4) Ten percent of the population is gay. Ten percent has been the number tossed around for a long time, but perhaps understandably, many people think the gay percentage of the population is even higher based on popular culture’s obsession with homosexuality.

That obsession is agenda driven. The actual number may be under 2% — even smaller than the percentage of scientists liberals admit will risk their careers by refusing to play along with the global warming hoax:

5) Ninety seven percent of scientists agree that global warming is manmade and dangerous. How do you prove 97% of people agree with you? Find a tiny subset of a group that thinks just like you do and claim that it speaks for a much larger group of people. Joseph Bast and Roy Spencer did an excellent piece explaining how this works at the WSJ.

Sometimes the line between hard spin and flat out lies is thin. But on the 97% lie, it is as broad as the Mississippi River.

Don’t forget the “women make 77 cents to every man’s dollar” myth.

If a man is watching a TV how can there be spousal abuse? More than likely he isn’t even aware of her. Is ignoring women on Super Bowl day spousal abuse?

From personal experience, #4 may well be closer to the truth than you think.
The problem with the oft stated 2% figure is that many homosexuals (and bisexuals) are afraid to be ostracized by their communities (and with good reason) and hide their sexual orientation.
This to the point of at least some of them getting into “traditional” marriages “because you’re supposed to”, then taking frequent business trips in order to do what people do who can’t get it at home.
Hanging out in several open minded (and not liberal…) online communities, I notice a far higher incidence of homosexual people there than in “real life”. The layer of anonymity allows them to be more open.
Whether the actual figure is 10% is doubtful, but it is certainly higher than 2%. My personal guess is closer to 5%.

How ’bout… “Women get paid .70 for every 1.00 a man makes.”

My problem with this stat is that they can never – NEVER – point to a company that is paying like that. But I can find you an endless stream of companies that pay equal. So that means in order for .70/1.00 to be the national average, then there would have to be a whole slew of companies that are paying women .35 for a man’s 1.00.

    Go find me one.

To make their stat happen, they claim that their study shows “men and women with the same education getting paid differently.” No. No. No. There’s a difference between “4 years of college” that nets you an engineering degree and “4 years of college” wherein you snagged a degree in gender theory.

    Nope. Sorry. It’s 2%.

The studies that came up with the 2% figure were anonymous questionnaires. People are honest on those. There’s no ostracizing from your community because you filled out an anonymous quiz.

Just reclassify “microaggressions” as abuse. “Honey can you hand me another beer out of the fridge” becomes spousal abuse instantly. You may laugh but this is the sort of foolishness Liberals are trying to forcefeed kids today in the indoctrination camps erm I mean schools…
