Government Subsidized NPR Moves Into Pricey New Digs

While other businesses scale back operations in the face of the permanent drag Obamanomics imposes on the economy, the coercively financed leftist propaganda outfit NPR is spreading out:

NPR recently moved from Chinatown into its new 400,000 square-foot home on North Capitol, and they’re excited about it. Eager to show off the new facility, the organization offered a tour to members of the media Tuesday morning, starting with breakfast from their in-house chefs, along with some talking points from CEO Gary Knell, who outlined some impressive features of the space.

These features include:

• A gong.
• A dog statue complete with bowl.
• Beehives to help pollinate the “green roofs.”
• LEED gold certification (to please enviromoonbats).
• A wellness center.
• A fitness center staffed by a trainer.
• A cafe.
• A 2,400 square foot studio.
• A complaint box where taxpayers can register their objections to this waste of their money when the government is already $17 trillion in debt.

Just kidding about the last one; it’s the only feature National People’s Radio’s new castle doesn’t have.

The gong we bought them.

On a tip from Bob Roberts.

They should bring back the Gong Show from the 70s and have NPR host them. Make it like a poor man’s American Idle. The birkenstock brigade pulled from marxist indoctrination centers err I mean colleges will be the guests on the show.

  7. Son of Taz says:

If I live long enough to see a sane individual assume the office of President, NPR will be among the first things to go.

  8. Kauf Buch says:

Who’s complaining?! The crime rate there is MUCH HIGHER than where they used to be on Massachusetts Avenue, NW.
What’s the problem with a few more NPR corpses?

Pretty soon, if you’re not a member of the Party (democratic), you’ll just be a second class citizen/resident, scrounging for their leftovers. Meanwhile, they’ll be living high on the hog. Hmmmm – this story sounds familiar. Better start stocking up on TP now – just don’t let anybody know.

Notice that the article did not mention how much money National Propaganda Radio spent on this 400,000 square foot palace for their pampered 800 employees.
Just roughly, residential construction is about $110.00 per square foot; commercial and public properties like shopping malls, office buildings etc. tend to cost considerably more, but to be EXTREMELY conservative an estimate of $125.00 per foot will do -even though we all know that the real price tag was probably twice that.
    400,000 sq ft.
    @ $125.00 per
=$50,000,000 or Fifty Million dollars MINIMUM.
    According to NPR,
5% of their funding is directly from the government
11% from “indirect government grants” channeled through the ultra rich (thanks to ‘evil’ capitalists marketing Big Bird and Molest Me Elmo etc.)Corporation for Public Broadcasting -which is heavily subsidized by the govt as well as claiming tax exempt status.
The remaining 84% of their funding comes from ‘private grants’ from such sources as;drooling moonbats with too much cash at hand, Waste Management and Bill Gates who -never forget- was the MS in MSNBC
That means a MINIMUM of taxpayer money wasted on their lavish ‘offices’ is 16% of fifty million or a minimum of 8 million.
Again, this is guesswork since they aren’t releasing details; and at a guess you could probably double every number and still be well under.

I guess they need something to do while they’re waiting for Soros to give them their news. It’s not like they do any research or anything, like real journalists would.

What a great move! In my day it was a pretty high crime corridor.
