Hillary and the Forbidden Confederate Flag

Compliments of J.

Now that the entire liberal Establishment agrees that the Confederate flag is a symbol of evil that must be repressed, what to make of Bill Clinton’s past advocacy of that same flag?

[Bill Clinton] signed a law which designated a portion of the state flag to commemorate the Confederate States of America. “The blue star above the word “ARKANSAS” is to commemorate the Confederate States of America,” Clinton’s law reads.

Since people of the past are now judged according to the politically correct standards of the present, this must be a thought crime:

This too:

Let’s ask the supposedly inevitable Historic First Female President about it. But I’m forgetting the rule — no awkward questions for Shrillary:

It’s unclear if the Clinton-Gore Confederate flag campaign button that has been prominent on social media was an official part of their 1992 presidential campaign.

And Hillary Clinton isn’t clarifying, nor is her team responding to questions about her husband honoring the flag as Arkansas governor in 1987.

Presumably this means that Shrillary’s handlers can’t come up with an answer that won’t make her look like an opportunistic hypocrite for trying to elbow her way to the front of the mob that wants to suppress the flag for being “racist.”

As lawmakers across the South spoke out against the Confederate battle flag and the nation’s largest retailers pulled items with its image from their shelves, Hillary Rodham Clinton on Tuesday called the flag “a symbol of our nation’s racist past.”

Speaking at an African-American church just outside Ferguson, Mo., an impoverished black community where protests against a mostly white police force erupted in violence last summer, Mrs. Clinton made a forceful plea to remove the Confederate flag wherever it flew. And she encouraged other retailers to follow Amazon, Walmart, eBay and Sears in discontinuing sales of items that display the flag.

“It shouldn’t fly there. It shouldn’t fly anywhere,” Mrs. Clinton [screeched sanctimoniously].

That’s because the many Americans who identify with the rebel flag for various reasons are racist and bad.

Angry Sen. Claire McCaskill claims Rush Limbaugh equated Confederate, American flags
We can’t guarantee it, but we’re assuming Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) isn’t getting her information about conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh directly from his radio show, since she links instead to a piece in Politico which, by the way, makes no claim that Limbaugh ever “equated” the American and Confederate flags.

A better source for Limbaugh’s beliefs can be found in a transcript of his June 23 broadcast, during which he wrapped up a discussion of the Confederate flag controversy with this prediction:

…I’ll make another prediction to you. The next flag that will come under assault, and it will not be long, is the American flag. Do not look at me that way. It makes perfect sense. If you take a look at the timeline of progressive events, their speed and rapidity with which the left is conducting this assault on all of these American traditions and institutions, if you don’t think the American flag’s in their crosshairs down the road, you had better stop and reconsider.

The American flag is what? It’s the symbol of America. The left what? Doesn’t like this country very much and never has and it’s getting angrier and angrier about it seemingly every day. The American flag stands for the United States of America and, as such, everything that’s wrong with it. And you wait. It isn’t gonna be long before the American flag is gonna cause chills, fear, scary thoughts, it’s gonna make me nervous, the American flag, when I see the American flag, it’s a symbol of hate.

So no, Limbaugh was not equating the two flags; rather, he’s predicting that the United States flag will eventually come under similar attack as a symbol of hate. Just for fun, let’s give Twitter a quick scan.

No doubt the American flag represents as much/more oppression as the Confederate flag – the difference is one is already history.

The American flag is just as much a symbol of racism as the Confederate flag. Take them both down.

take down the Confederate flag, but remember the regular American flag also represents a history of slavery, white supremacy, and genocide

  9. Thanks, Dave, for your support of the Confederate flag. There is a lot of hysteria loose right now, and it is good that you point out the hypocrisy and error of the flag’s detractors. Rush was right about the American flag, it has already been banned in certain liberal situations, like Cinco de Mayo, and at certain colleges and universities. All the people of the past must be held to the standards, biases and delusions of 21st Century college sophomores, or their flags, statues, monuments, street names, school names, school mascots etc must be ruthlessly excised from the public square. Perhaps at some future time they will begin bulldozing tombstones in Confederate cemeteries.
