Bloomberg Banned Food Donations

Sandy left vast misery in its wake. Good people have stepped forward to relieve the suffering — but NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg won’t allow it, lest someone consume the essential nutrient salt, which some liberals regard as politically incorrect:

Glenn Richter arrived at a West Side synagogue on Monday to collect surplus bagels — fresh nutritious bagels — to donate to the poor. However, under a new edict from Bloomberg’s food police he can no longer donate the food to city homeless shelters. …

Richter has been collecting food from places like the Ohav Zedek synagogue and bringing it to homeless shelters for more than 20 years, but recently his donation, including a “cholent” or carrot stew, was turned away because the Bloomberg administration wants to monitor the salt, fat and fiber eaten by the homeless. …

But Mayor Bloomberg, a salt-aholic himself, was unapologetic.

According to NYC’s rulers, it would be better for people to go hungry than to eat something in which salt levels had not been sufficiently regulated.

Bloomberg’s main achievement as mayor has been to prove that there is no extreme of liberal totalitarianism so grotesquely cruel and absurd that New Yorkers will rebel against it.

What an idiot. Feed the hungry or worry about their salt intake! Really? This country is going crazy and we are letting them!

  2. Louisiana Steve says:

You get what you vote for folks.

  3. Laurie says:

Bloomberg stops food donations because he’s worried about the salt intake, but he lets the Red Cross hand out cookies and hot chocolate because he’s not worried about the sugar intake.

Typical liberal. Stupid to the core.

And I agree with Louisiana Steve: You get what you vote for, folks. I’m sure you New York liberals are singing songs of joy even though you’re starving because you know your un-aborted children aren’t eating too much salt.

  4. Sam Adams says:

Liberal moonbats in New York have voted for, and continue to vote for this tyranny. Between all the taxes, regulation, and idiocy, it won’t be long before the world’s financial capital moves out of New York. Once gone, it will never return and New York will become another liberal hell hole.

  5. swampcat says:

I would like to let anyone and everyone know that, should I somehow end up broke and homeless in NYC, I will gladly accept a cheeseburger and large Coke, and I promise I won’t the tell Bloomberg or any of his Food Police idiots who gave me a Happy Meal.

  6. Bob Roberts says:

This is a classic example of government getting in the way of doing what’s right/best.

This is exactly why the Constitution’s main purpose was to limit government, not provide an excuse for government to micro-manage our lives.

Liberal moonbats twist the Constitution into an instrument meant to give government more and more power to interfere with our decisions and actions. While some may try to argue (and not necessarily honestly) that this technique has been used for good in a very rare few instances perhaps, more often than not the opposite is true.

In the wake of the immensely sensible and logical idea to defund npr and pbs, here comes Elmo, the CHILD MOLESTER:

I think I’ll be waiting a long time to get the Top Ten list on this topic from Letterman. So I’ll do his work for him: Best pick-up line overheard on Sesame Street: Hey kid, wanna see my Big Bird?

Just looking at that URL suggests the trolls are slipping filth back into the stream here. Best not to go to that link, I think. Probably porn or porn related, from the look of it.

  9. Ummah Gummah says:

So we don’t find out that Elmo is a pedophile pervert until after the election either?

  10. Dr. 9 says:

Think Queen Bloomberg is bad? Well, he’s not alone. The leftist cretins who run Mexifornia are catching up to NYC’s limp-wristed little tyrant. Next step? Everyone will have to dress exactly the same.

  15. Sam Adams says:

    Violence Free Fridays!!!

What a great idea. They’d never go for it.

  16. Ummah Gummah says:

    I have another idea.

I pledge to never ever eat meat again on a Monday ***IF*** all politicians from the President on down will be subjected to mandatory monthly drug tests.

And those who are caught, forfeit their right to run and hold any office of any kind for life.

    Deal, POLOticians?

Bloomberg WAS the *Republican* in his last election. His RAT opponent was a Socialist goof who looks like Groucho Marx.

That’s the date of the linked article. Hardly “in the wake of Sandy” that came ashore Oct 28&29, 2012.

The story was stupid the first time without adding a falsehood.

  20. Dr. 9 says:

Make no mistake. His Majesty Bloomberg is a “hard-core, life-long, socialist Demoncrat”. He simply changes labels to make things easier for himself. He’s also a “very” intergral part of the MSM, (Bloomberg news, etc.) which is why he gets a free pass from them.

  21. Mephistopheles says:

Uh, Bloomberg is not a liberal. He’s one of your guys.

  22. Mephistopheles says:

Bloomberg was the one who cracked down on “Occupy.” He’s a Republican.

RINO, yes, conservative, no. Overweening statism makes him a de facto liberal.

  24. hiram says:

Cracked down? Seriously? Oh, that cracks me up… how many MONTHS did the filthy hippies take over downtown before he did anything?

    No, bub… he’s definitely a big-government Statist. Textbook definition of “RINO”. If he’s conservative, I’m a commie.

They will have to alter or destroy old movies and TV shows because they show people:

    Making decisions for themsleves.
    Taking responsibility for their actions.
    Eating “the wrong” foods.
    Driving without seatbelts and airbags.
    Defending themselves.
Building doghouses and sheds without permits.
    Working for a living.
    Criticizing the government.

  28. Vic Kelley says:

I hope that New Yorkers are actively violating this idiotic ban on food donations. I also hope they are avoiding and evading paying any tax that goes towards the city or state of NY.

Meph – No jackhole, liberals practice liberalism, just like you and Adolf Bloomberg. Party affiliation is completely separate. Like you, Bloomberg is a disgrace to humanity in general and a threat to freedom and prosperity, dirty little fascists always are.

There is only one way to rid ourselves of you filth, civil war.

Clean up America, kill a liberal.

The Socialist thinks, in all sincerity, that there is the same distance between himself and mankind.
