Jail Time for Leaving Your Home

As noted earlier, the Wuhan coronavirus has created favorable conditions for anarchotyranny. As authorities let criminals run loose in, for example, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Baltimore, regular citizens are threatened with jail time for taking a walk in Washington:

Mayor Muriel Bowser is threatening residents of Washington, DC, with 90 days in jail and a $5,000 fine if they leave their homes during the coronavirus outbreak.

Jail is a particularly bad place to be right now.

The threat of jail is alarming residents and civil libertarians who point out that at least five inmates tested positive for COVID-19 in the city’s 1,700-inmate jail near Capitol Hill.

In the name of fighting COVID-19, the petty tyrants running Washington threaten to plunge normal people into an environment that makes contracting it far more likely. Once again, a Big Government fix promises to make the problem worse.

It isn’t just DC:

The states of Virginia and Maryland have announced that violating any lockdown edict to supposedly stop the coronavirus pandemic can be punished by up to one year in jail.

The idea of people of Virginia Governor Ralph Northam’s caliber helping themselves to martial law powers is scarier than the virus itself.
