Land O’Lakes Indian Maiden Is Canceled

Day in, day out, during good times or bad, COVID-19 or no COVID-19, progressives progressively chip away at American culture in the name of sensitivity, with the goal of obliterating it completely so that they can impose a contrived degenerate culture in its place. No Americana is safe — not even Mia, the iconic Indian maiden who has been featured on Land O’Lakes butter packaging since 1928.

Just as Phoenix’s Squaw Peak was officially renamed on behalf of political correctness, Mia has been disappeared down the memory hole:

[A company] statement didn’t mention a reason for why the maiden was removed from the packaging, and the website does not include any trace of the character.

According to the statement,

The new packaging features farmers: the foundation of the cooperative’s membership, history and connection to communities across the country. This packaging reflects the foundation and heart of our company culture and connects consumers to the farmer-owners whose milk is used to produce the great products they know and love.

The farmers must be hiding in the trees, or underwater holding their breath:

Creepy. Like those old Soviet photos from which Stalin had fellow commies who had been canceled removed.

Though the suits aren’t saying so, this is undoubtedly another example of caving to PC crybullies:

Native people have called the imagery racist, and that it goes “hand-in-hand with with human and sex trafficking of our women and girls … by depicting Native women as sex objects,” according to North Dakota state Rep. Ruth Buffalo, D-Fargo, who is a registered member of the Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation.

Land O’Lakes had tried to compromise by emphasizing “a head-and-shoulders view of the Indian maiden, who was no longer obviously kneeling.” By you can’t compromise with the thought police, who never stop screeching about racism until they have gotten their way.

Sadly, militantly aggrieved Indians are erasing themselves from American heritage in exchange for the cheap transitory pleasure of pushing weaklings around.

On the positive side, banishing Mia to the memory hole protects the public not only from racism but also from sexism.
