New England Journal of Medicine Rejects Biology for LGBT Ideology

The radical Long March Through the Institutions has corrupted virtually every pillar of society — not only infamously left-leaning entertainment, education, journalism, and Big Tech, but even the scientific establishment. The prestigious New England Journal of Medicine has proven willing to subordinate science to whacky progressive dogma.

Birth certificates have a line of demarcation. Information above it legally identifies the individual. Data below the line is deidentified and used in the aggregate for statistical purposes. Examples of the latter include race and parents’ marital status, which people might want to keep private. NEJM wants sex designation moved to below the line.

As quoted by The Blaze, NEJM obfuscates:

Designating sex as male or female on birth certificates suggests that sex is simple and binary when, biologically, it is not. Sex is a function of multiple biologic processes with many resultant combinations. … The biologic processes responsible for sex are incompletely defined, and there is no universally accepted test for determining sex.

For crying out loud. If small children can understand the difference between male and female, the editors of a medical journal should be able to grasp it. Rare cases of hermaphroditism do not negate the fundamental scientific principle that pretty much everyone is either male or female from their hair to their toenails.

Then they discard even the pretense of scientific thought and attack reality itself by conflating biological sex with subjective perceptions:

Assigning sex at birth also doesn’t capture the diversity of people’s experiences. About 6 in 1000 people identify as transgender, meaning that their gender identity doesn’t match the sex they were assigned at birth.

Maybe someone pounding his face against a padded wall at the funny farm thinks he is a woodpecker. Is it oppressive for his birth certificate to contradict his species identity?

The concept that sex is “assigned at birth” is postmodern deconstructionism put to the service of a radical agenda. In reality, sex is determined at conception, not birth.

Unconvincing reasons are presented for regarding sex designation on birth certificates as harmful:

For people with intersex variations, the birth certificate’s public sex designation invites scrutiny, shame, and pressure to undergo unnecessary and unwanted surgical and medical interventions.

Another supposed harm is that having their sex recorded on their birth certificate could make it more difficult for male convicts to get themselves housed in female prisons.

The main harm is to progressive ideology:

[A]ssigning sex at birth perpetuates a view that sex as defined by a binary variable is natural, essential, and immutable. Participation by the medical profession and the government in assigning sex is often used as evidence supporting this view. Imposing such a categorization system risks stifling self-expression and self-identification.

That is, putting an objective biological fact on the record undermines the literally insane position that whether you have a Y chromosome is an opinion that you can change on a whim.

The important thing is that militant transsexuals don’t want their real sex on their birth certificate, and like other favored groups, they should be granted even the most outrageous demands because they are oppressed by discrimination, disparities, ad nauseam:

Transgender people receive worse health care and have worse outcomes than cisgender people [… and] have historically been harmed by clinicians and by the medical system in general.

If law enforcement can be systemically racist, as liberals screech while egging on Black Lives Matter rioters, the medical system can be systemically transphobic.

When the scientific establishment rejects objective reality in favor of leftist politics, it discards its credibility. No wonder people are afraid to take a coronavirus vaccine.
