Obama Promise Kept: Record Price for Electricity

Remember when Obama promised that he would make the price we pay for electricity skyrocket? That was before he was elected. Rising electricity prices raise all other prices, in addition to lowering employment by increasing the price of doing business. As energy prices rice, our standard of living declines. Yet people voted for Obama anyway, possibly out of ignorance, possibly out of disbelief that he could really be as hostile to this country as he seemed. They are paying a price for their foolishness β€” and so are the rest of us:

For the first time ever, the average price for a kilowatthour (KWH) of electricity in the United States has broken through the 14-cent mark, climbing to a record 14.3 cents in June, according to data released last week by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. …

The 14.3-cents average price for a KWH recorded this June is about 4.4 percent higher than that previous record. …

Although the price for an average KWH hit its all-time record in June, the seasonally adjusted electricity price index–which measures changes in the price of electricity relative to a value of 100 and adjusts for seasonal fluctuations in price–hit its all-time high of 209.341 in March of this year, according to BLS.

It isn’t because we lack resources. America now leads the world in untapped fossil fuel reserves.

The higher prices are a result of the war Obama is conducting against the energy sector, primarily through the unelected ideologues comprising the Environmental Protection Agency.

Maybe Obama voters thought that only “racists” would have their standard of living lowered, and life would go on as before for themselves.

Obama Rich Elitist
His own standard of living is safe.

The commie’s statement in 2008 was BS then and it’s still BS.

Ever notice how the words “price increase” or “tax increase” flow so easily from the pieholes of the rats that are in office in this country? Just once I’d like to hear something like, “yes, there’s going to be a lowering of taxes to stimulate business.”

Oh, wait……someone did, when democrats were somewhat patriotic.

Yep, we got the notice from SCE last week: 8-10% increase… almost $0.15/kWh.

Thanks, ObrownMao. You got your wish – I hope I get mine… πŸ˜‰

$.14 kw equals $.14 for a each 10 hours a 100 watt bulb is used. Use 5 hours a night multiplied by 30 days has each lightbulb now costing $21 a month just to light a lamp. Multiplied by 12 months = $252 just for each lamp we use.

For anyone not on the dole or not participating in the plunder, that is a lot of money just to be able to see. Government is a machine, if you are not part of it, it crushes you beneath it.

    John 3:20 applies so well…

Who uses a 100 watt bulb any more?  You can get the same light from 18 watts of LED, or 25 watts of CF if you’re short on cash and waiting for the prices to come down.  The CF will pay for itself in a couple of months.

Seriously, do a spreadsheet and figure out which side your bread is buttered on.

Who uses just one lightbulb in their home? Add in television, refrigeration, microwave, computer, laundry. The 100 Watt Bulb is the easiest thing most people understand. Regardless, the accelerating raising of electricity rates will soon have the usage of even LEDs costing thousands a year to power.

it will only get worse with the forced closing of nuclear and coal plants.

I’ve been using CFs since they had circular tubes and iron ballasts.  I think I still have one that works.  I noticed my bills go down substantially when I re-lamped with them.  They went down again when I replaced my big CRT with a flatscreen LCD monitor.  I’m paying less and getting more.

Part of the increase in electric rates is the cost of meeting the peak demand of things like electric stoves and air conditioners.  You need generators and wires, and the less they’re used the more they cost per hour of operation.  But you’ll still pay less overall.  That is, unless the Greens get their wish and shut down all our nuclear power.  Vermont in particular is going to get a wake-up call next year, and it’s not going to be pretty.
