ObamaCare Increases Both Healthcare Costs and Number of Uninsured

There’s no guessing how much ObamaCare will end up costing in the long run, but it’s already clear that if not repealed before it becomes hopelessly entrenched, it will go down as one of the most expensive pieces of legislation in human history. The massive expense of a major new entitlement was justified by the supposed urgency of covering those who were uninsured. But to the surprise only of liberals, the percentage of Americans without health insurance has gone up since ObamaCare was imposed:

In 2008, when George W. Bush was president, according to Gallup, 14.9 percent of adult residents of the United States lacked health insurance coverage. That increased to 16.2 percent in 2009, the year that Obama was inaugurated, and to 16.4 percent in 2010, the year that Obama signed his law requiring that all Americans have health insurance.

In the first half of this year, according to data released by Gallup [Tuesday], the percentage of adults in the United States lacking health insurance ticked up to 16.8 percent.

Big Government solutions can make even bad problems worse. With virtually nonexistent problems like our alleged healthcare crisis, it’s a cinch.

At least ObamaCare will reduce our healthcare costs, even if at the expense of our children and grandchildren, who will have to pick up the tab for Obama’s profligate spending. But wait — ObamaCare actually raises healthcare costs:

One of the major impacts of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is that individuals and families will see higher health insurance premiums. Obamacare imposes several costly new mandates and restrictions on health insurers and providers that will raise health cares costs and therefore premiums.

Even liberal apparatchiks are forced to agree:

When Wisconsin’s Department of Health Services, which manages health programs within the state, wanted to get a better sense of how last year’s health care overhaul would affect insurance coverage within the state, they turned to Jonathan Gruber, a health policy expert at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology who served as a consultant on both Mitt Romney’s Massachusetts health care overhaul and (somewhat controversially) President Obama’s nationwide successor program.

Gruber is a frequent defender of ObamaCare as well as one of its architects.

He tried his best, but Gruber was unable to spin this sow’s ear into a silk purse.

Gruber projects that the average individual market health insurance premium will cost about 30 percent more than if ObamaCare had never passed. For most individual market enrollees, the average premium increase will be even higher: 87 percent of the individual market is projected to see a premium price increase of 41 percent.

ObamaCare is projected to cost about $1,000,000,000,000.00 over the next 10 years. What do we get for the money? Absolutely nothing. But our rulers get substantially more power over us, which was the sole objective of the legislation.

No one who won’t whole-heartedly commit to the immediate repeal of ObamaCare is fit to hold public office.

    President Job killer…

Since you have never held a private sector job I will make a suggestion..When you are a private citizen again in Dec 2012… Please do the following

    1. Gather all your own money and those of your closest socialists and green weeinies and start a factory that builds electric cars.

    2. Put your time, energy, sweat, money and brain power into it( not Governement grants and tax breaks)

    3. Hire thousands of people…Make sure you hire enough minorities, women, disabled, homeless, and illegals. Hire 10% more than you need just because its corporations responsibilty.

    4. Be sure they are all union labor and that you pay them $20/hr and provide full benefits, Obamacare( no waivers)

    5. Give them all 4 paid weeks of vacation and 10 sick days and 7 personal days along with pregnancy leave with full pay. Dont forget full pensions at 55.

    6. Pay insurance premiums that cover all sex changes, birth control, viagra and fertility treatments.

    7. You personally as a scumbag lawyer get to deal with all the environmental whackjob regulations you demand we implement while trying to plan and build your new factory. Should be ready to open your plant in 2018 if you are lucky.

    8. You power your plant with solar panels and wind mills. No coal or fossil fuel electric allowed. No nuclear power either. Hot air from liberals is fine to use.

    9. No subsidies for the evil rich people who can afford the high price of these electric cars.
( Be sure your business plan takes into account the 150 Volts sold this past month.)

    10. Be sure all vending machines serve only fruits and vegetables from organic farms. No pop . No Salt, No beer or liquor for union workers while on the job either.

    11. When you are rich and profitable …Just sit back and enjoy being told you are evil and dont pay enough in taxes and be ready to be protested and called a racist who hates white people and the middle class.

    12. Tell us all how this works out and how fast you expect to be profitable . I am sure that your family will look forward to the extensive inheritance you will leave the Govt when you let the government take 40%( death tax) of it when you die of lung cancer from smoking.

Wait until 2013 when Beelzebama’s National Hellcare System loads 40 million illegals and parasites onto the nation’s doctors and hospitals.

If you think healthcare is expensive now, wait until you see how much it costs when it is FREE!

  6. Carmen says:

No increase in numbers of doctors, but 16,000 new IRS workers – where is the money and service to come from?

It is fake. It is a ploy. It is not to help anyone. It is to crumble our society to make it “even steven” with Kenya.

Query: If an employer currently does NOT offer any type of HC, will this same employer be subjected to a fine of $2,000 per employee anyway? If so, this could seriously jeopardize small companies, like my husband’s.

All part of the plan – but bleeding heart libs actually believe this is GOOD – so sad.

No, not unless they have more than 50 employees, and one or more of those employees receive a Federal health care subsidy.

The employer penalty was designed to loot big companies, while simultaneously encouraging small business to dump everyone into the Obamacare government pool. They never wanted to discourage employee dumping because they are trying to collapse the private system and socialize the remains.

  9. Carmen says:

Thanks AC — We were worried about this issue but his company employees only 20 peeps.

I agree they (the dhimmis) are jonesing to socialize our systems. I equate this to ripping our country down to Haiti type conditions, with politicos living in palaces.

Why don’t the dhimmi-liberal followers understand that this type of takeover will affect THEM too???

Obama has been successful in ensuring federally funded abortions, healthcare for illegals, repeal of DADT, refusing to obey laws that he doesn’t like, etc. He has fulfilled many items on Satan’s evil agenda list. His biggest feat; however, will be dividing Jerusalem and giving half of it to the Muslims. He is making great strides in that area:

“President Barack Obama is the unlikely star of a new Palestinian media campaign.

Part of a speech Obama gave in 2010 to the United Nations General Assembly is featured in an ad aimed to rally support for the Palestinians upcoming bid for statehood at the United Nations on Sept. 20, Reuters reported on Wednesday.

When we come back here next year, we can have an agreement that can lead to a new member of the United Nations, an independent, sovereign state of Palestine living in peace with Israel,” Obama said in the 2010 speech in the clip that is played in the radio ad.”

If he is successful in implementing a peace agreement between between Israel and Palestine, I hope more will believe what I’ve said all along about him, based on Biblical prophecy – that this man of lawlessness is the final anti-Christ.

    AC says
Paying the fine is actually cheaper then providing insurance to employees. I pay 100% of the insuance cost for my 18 employees and thier immediate family members(spouce and children). It costs me around $13,500 per month. the HC fine is $2,000 per employee per year.

    Jodie says:

Could you please post satans evil agenda list.

  13. Jodie says:

LOL! The list is too long to post, but as a rule of thumb, it includes everything the left stands for.

  14. Dupree says:

Carmen – beginning for the 2010 tax year, there is also a tax credit for companies between 10 and 25 employees, up to 35% of premiums paid for unrelated employees, if the employer picks up at least 50% of a single policy.

AC is correct when he says this is designed to kill private insurance. Large groups will unload employees to the exchanges because the penalty will be cheaper than paying 60% of “minimum essential coverage” as defined by the government at some point in the future, and oh, why bother with all the new regulations, notice requirements and non-compliance penalties. Small groups will move to exchanges because as of 2014 the tax credit referred to above can only be obtained if group insurance is purchased through the exchanges.

The costs will skyrocket, but the zombies wont care because the taxpayer will be picking up the tab. Anyone within 400% of the Federal Poverty Level (up to about $88K for a family of 4) will receive a tax credit at taxpayer expense. A person at 100% FPL only pays 2% of their income towards insurance, taxpayer pays the rest no matter the cost. A person at 400% FPL pays only 9.5% of their income towards insurance, taxpayer pays the rest no matter the cost. Anyone above 400% FPL pays 100% of their premiums themselves.

  15. AC says:

The problem with “essential minimum coverage” is that it isn’t minimum and includes so many things which aren’t essential.

Obamacare killed off the ability to combine an HDHP with an HSA. This is what I formerly offered to all my employees. Most loved it, a few ignorant people didn’t understand how it helped them and thus they chose to whine.

The system is being choked by superfluous procedures and lifestyle medicine. Obama’s solution is to force everyone into the pool and then mandate standards for coverage so everybody must pick up the tab for lifestyle medicine and wasteful procedures.

What the liberals don’t understand is that cost control must be applied on an individual basis with respect to each individual expenditure. The only way to do this is to empower citizens with HSAs. Imposing cost control in the aggregate eliminates funding for necessary and helpful procedures while still allowing the waste, fraud, and abuse to slip under the radar. The difference is that in Obama’s system of cost controls, the standards will be widely known, allowing the abusive billers to know exactly how much they can get away with in each instance.

  16. Sinister66 says:

So in other words there isnt one.
    Just checking.

Acoording to the rapture retards at no one will know who the antichrist will be.

  18. Marmo says:

Maybe Barely, Pelosi and Reid should have read that bill before they passed it, huh?

  19. Dupree says:

HDHPs and HSAs are great (and still around), for people with the discipline to save. And save they will, should they have discipline. But lefties have no discipline. That’s why they’re lefties. They just want to remain zombies with zero responsibility to themselves or anyone else.

  20. Dupree says:

And 60% of minimum essential cost is just the first hurdle for employers to jump. Also, an employers plan is deemed “unaffordable” if an employee pays more than 9.5% of their household income, and subject to a $3,000 per employee non-deductible penalty.

Nevermind how an employer has absolutely no right to ask an employee what their household income is…

The only really important thing to the powers that be is that the common denominator of socialism is spread throughout the world to ease the transition to the new world order of tyranny, enslavement and death.

  22. Jodie says:

I love God’s sense of humor!

“A 500-ton crane doing repair work collapsed Wednesday at the Washington National Cathedral amid thunderstorms and driving rain, damaging at least one nearby building and several vehicles but sparing the church.

The collapse came just four days before a scheduled speech by President Barack Obama inside the cathedral to observe the tenth anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. The speech is the planned highlight of a three-day series of events scheduled to start Friday at the cathedral.”

  23. Festivus says:

The reason they are dictating minimum coverage requirements (which includes all the lifestyle medicine offerings as mentioned) is because they are attempting to convert a risk-based insurance system into a welfare system.

The Obamacare Act is providing the intended consequence – employers dumping their employee plans so that we will need even greater government intervention (welfare under a singlepayer system).

  24. TexasDoc says:

It is no big secret that big employers will drop their employee health care coverage and pay the fine because it is cheaper. $2,500 per employee works out to about $200 a month, about a third of which it will cost to cover each employee under Obamacare. It is that easy.

You will be able to keep your coverage alright, assuming you want to be on Medicaid and fight for a physician’s appointment six months after you break your arm. And yes….I AM a practicing primary care physician and I can tell you things are going to get much worse and very quickly.
