One-Third of People Don’t Know This

It would be nice to think that if more people knew this, there would be a revolt. Taxpayers are forced to spend between $14,000 and $17,000 PER STUDENT annually for the farce that is public education.

Despite the conspicuous decline in quality, education spending has doubled since the 1980s. The money pours into the pockets of nonteaching educrats. This is the work of the insatiably greedy teachers’ unions, which enjoy the uncritical support of the media and the well-compensated Democrat Party.

Liz Wheeler reports:

For the money, we get kids who often cannot read or do simple math, but who have been brainwashed to hate their own country and its heritage. This has resulted in the generation currently out there rioting and tearing down statues of great historical figures.

Meanwhile, teachers’ unions refuse to open schools in the fall until leftist demands unrelated to education are met. For example,

A North Carolina teachers’ union is calling for the implementation of universal health care and welfare benefits for illegal immigrants in order to reopen schools in the fall.

Demands in California are comparably outrageous:

According to a “policy paper” put out by the Unified Teachers Los Angeles union, apparently they require things like federal bail out, medicare for all, wealth and millionaire tax, defund police, charter school moratorium, and financial support for undocumented students to effectively teach in person.

Won’t meet our outlandish demands? Then we won’t teach, because coronavirus.

If Reagan could fire air traffic controllers, there is no reason the teachers represented by these malignant unions cannot be fired and replaced by some of the millions of regular Americans thrown out of work by the overreaction to the Chinese virus. The students would be vastly better off.
