Wrong. The Founding Fathers were the status quo. They colonies had, during a long period of “neglect” (read, minimal meddling) by the British government, formed a system of self-government that suited them. When George III decided to take a more active control of the British colonies, the Colonial Americans, who rather liked running things to suit themselves, objected.

This is why the American “Revolution” worked, where most of them fail miserably and end up with dictatorships; we had a system of government largely in place. We were not overthrowing an existing system, we were resisting the imposition of a new system.

Which doesn’t mean that the principles that the Government we ended up formally forming were not revolutionary; they were. They still are. But without understanding why our “revolution” worked, and how it is completely different fro, say, the French or Cuban revolutions,. we are doomed to continue making blunders like our attempts to “Nation Build” in Iraq.

Not saying we shouldn’t have stopped on Saddam. But we should have left afterwards.

Secrecy around TPP trade deal fuels suspicions and worries

Higher costs for needed generic drugs. Longer copyright protections than the global standard. Foreign investors empowered to overrule governments. A more tightly-regulated Internet.

Those are just some of the potential pitfalls from any deal that could emerge from the Trans-Pacific Partnership, the 12-country free-trade and investment pact shrouded in secrecy as negotiations head into the final stage in Hawaii next week.

A handful of draft chapters of the TPP, leaked via Wikileaks, have highlighted the proposed treaty’s heavy emphasis on expanding protections for corporate rights and assets like intellectual property — patents, copyrights and databases — that are far more valuable to advanced economy corporations than traditional cargo trade.

For critics, the proposals show a deal moving more toward protection than free trade, one more about corporate benefits than boosting economies and development.

Once again defying climate alarmist predictions of more, and more powerful, hurricanes, this year predicted to be quieter than normal.

There is an El Niño (The warm phase of the Southern Oscillation) in the Pacific. This causes stronger trade winds. Stronger trade winds tend to rip the tops off storms so they cannot continue to develop and strengthen. It does not mean no hurricanes – some hurricanes form in areas where the trade winds are not as big an influence. But it generally means less hurricanes and it generally keeps many that do form from gaining too much strength.

As far as other effects – sometimes El Niño brings heavy rain to California, but not always. Sometimes it brings warmer temperatures and less snow to the northeast, sometimes just the opposite. You never can tell – it’s complex. It boils down to how strong this one gets and what the trend is as winter hits.

I can tell you the surfers are already upset – big storms often mean big waves and so far there have not been many.

Obama brown shirts sent after Sheriff Joe Arpaio

U.S. District Judge Murray Snow ordered the raid after a court-ordered monitor reported the sheriff’s office failed to hand over more than 1,400 identification documents – driver’s licenses, passports and identification cards – as part of a misconduct investigation involving the sheriff’s office.

Arpaio’s immigration smuggling squad and other deputies are accused of regularly pocketing items from people during traffic stops and busts of safe houses used during illegal-immigrant smuggling.

Court monitors claim the IDs belonged primarily to people of Hispanic descent.

OK, so people involved in immigrant smuggling tend to be Hispanic.

So how does any of this prove ‘profiling’?

If Hillary Clinton were a cartoon character, she’d be Snidely Whiplash, forever muttering to herself, “Curses, foiled again.”

I disagree – she would be Charlie Brown, the Democratic nomination would be the football and the Democratic Party would be Lucy Van Pelt.

Already threatened by a growing trust deficit with voters, her would-be majesty now faces an even more lethal adversary. It’s called the truth, though she probably sees it as a vast, left-wing conspiracy.

The news that two inspectors general from the Obama administration want the Justice Department to investigate her handling of classified material is a potential game changer. For many Democrats, it will serve as final proof she is fatally flawed.

Her standing will further erode, turning her coronation plans into a long, hot summer. The drip, drip, drip of details will produce new polls showing a bleeding of support, which will entice other candidates into the race. Look for Vice President Joe Biden to jump in soon, and lefty Sen. Elizabeth Warren might also take the leap.

Meanwhile, Clinton must play defense against her former colleagues in the State Department and intelligence agencies.

Actually, it’s worse. She’s almost certainly up against the White House.

Somebody very high in the food chain leaked the memos requesting the probe. The New York Times, which broke the story, identified its source only as “a senior government official.”

My money is on Valerie Jarrett, the Obamas’ Rasputin, who is known to despise Clinton. If it was Jarrett, she would not do this against the president’s wishes.

That also would be true for any “senior government official” who leaked the memos. Targets don’t get any bigger than Hillary Clinton, so this was not a rogue operation. This was an approved hit.

Clinton has an enemies list — and it looks like she’s on Obama’s. It’s also possible the White House is using the issue to keep her in line on the Iranian nuke deal. The implied threat is “look what happened to Robert Menendez.”

Either way, she had it coming. Her arrogance and bald-face lies about the e-mails must have infuriated her boss and colleagues. Her decision to conduct government business on a private server in her home and use personal e-mail accounts was a giant “f–k you” to the administration.

He was ‘in character’ so I asked him what petition the moonbats were signing for him today, he told me, asked me if I wanted to sign… I said no, not really, then cleared out pretty quick.

Looking for his link, I see liberal sources describe him as a ‘conspiracy theorist’.

    Really?

    From his website:

A detailed analysis of the September 11th attacks and evidence they were aided by elements within U.S. and foreign intelligence agencies to be used as a reason to jumpstart the “War on Terror” and the erosion of privacy and personal liberties outlined in the constitution.

I would have to read more specifically what he claims – certainly there were failures of U.S. intelligence, but I don’t know that it rises to the level of aiding. So yeah, that and other things do seem to suggest he’s a bit of a conspiracy nut – or are some of the issues he raises actually legitimate questions? I’d have to read his various books to find out. From a quick view over the top it does seem like he might tend to leap to questionable conclusions sometimes – but I do get a laugh over some of the petitions he gets people to sign.
