You know, this practice of tearing down statues and things isn’t new. We saw it when the Iron Curtain fell and the Soviet Union imploded. We saw it at the end of World War II when the symbols on the NAZI centers of power were destroyed. We saw it when Iraq fell and the images of Saddam Hussein were toppled and destroyed.

But this is different. None of these people who are being attacked here today were dictators or fascists. They were people who fought for causes they believed in, nothing more. Fought for their state, for their family, for their brothers. None of these symbols were what the left is claiming. The battle flag of the army of northern Virginia was not the confederate flag and it did not stand for or promote slavery. There is hatred and bigotry here – it is being expressed by those who are intolerant, yet they continually demand tolerance themselves.

On the “global warming” news front, it is likely Texas will see the first strike by a hurricane since 2008, a “hurricane drought” that lasted about 9 years despite predictions by warmist alarmists that hurricanes would get more frequent and more powerful. Instead the opposite seems to have occurred generally, though every year is different. The total energy of such storms is tracked through something called the ACE Index, which stands for Accumulated Cyclone Energy. I’ll get to that in a minute. This storm, currently only a tropical depression named “Harvey”, is expected to strengthen into a tropical storm then just make it to hurricane status before hitting land in southeastern Texas sometime Friday or Saturday. It is projected to bring “biblical flooding” to the Texas gulf coast.

Now back to the ACE Index. As you can see on the page below, it generally has been on a sharp downward trend since 2005 and indeed there was a period from about 1995 to 2005 that did support the alarmist claims that perhaps global warming was causing more tropical storms or more intense tropical storms – but the alternate explanation, which is the truth, is that hurricane seasons fluctuate. We get a period of strong seasons and then a period of weak seasons. As noted, since 2005 the ACE Index has dropped dramatically as atmospheric CO2 has increased at a steady pace. So clearly there’s no connection like the one the alarmists claimed.

Things We Know About Accumulated Cyclone Energy

    1. There is no evidence of a systematic increasing or decreasing trend in ACE for the years 1970-2012.

    2. There is a cyclical variation in the ACE of 6 and 12 months’ length.

(See tha page below for 8 more things.)

Alarmists noted this as well so they decided to change the way the ACE index was computed to try and make the trend look different. I do not know how that worked out for them but this page, if it uses the new method, suggests they failed.

Wall Street Journal Editor Admonishes Reporters Over Trump Coverage

Mr. Baker, in a series of blunt late-night emails, criticized his staff over their coverage of Mr. Trump’s Tuesday rally in Phoenix, describing their reporting as overly opinionated.

“Sorry. This is commentary dressed up as news reporting,” Mr. Baker wrote at 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday morning to a group of Journal reporters and editors, in response to a draft of the rally article that was intended for the newspaper’s final edition.

He added in a follow-up, “Could we please just stick to reporting what he said rather than packaging it in exegesis and selective criticism?”

In February, Mr. Baker fielded tough questions at an all-hands staff meeting about whether the newspaper’s reporting on Mr. Trump was too soft. Mr. Baker denied that notion, and he suggested that other newspapers had abandoned their objectivity about the president; he also encouraged journalists unhappy with the Journal’s coverage to seek employment elsewhere.

Note the slant in the NYT article in parts I didn’t include (see the link):

They try to make it sound like the WSJ is soft on Trump and has a cozy relationship with him.

This is what they get for trying to do their job the way it is supposed to be done. Unlike how the NYT and other outlets we all know are filling their coverage with commentary and opinion and blatantly attempting to whip up bigotry and hate against Trump and anyone who supports him.

Efforts by Obama and the Democrats to whip up racial tension in the U.S. have borne so much poison fruit that the U.N. is taking notice:

A UN committee tasked with combatting racism has issued a formal “early warning” over conditions in the United States.

    They’re a little late, wouldn’t you agree?

Things have been out of control since early in the first Obama term as he and the “usual suspects” did all they could to fan the flames of racism and bigotry to divide us.

Judge who did the right thing is criticized here in this story of DACA:

Legal experts believe if Texas and the nine other states do file a lawsuit to halt DACA, they’ll win — particularly if the same federal judge that blocked the broader immigration program under Obama, Judge Andrew Hanen, oversees the latest legal challenge.

Stephen Legomsky, who was chief counsel at U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services when the Obama administration launched DACA, said Hanen’s “extreme, extreme hostility” to Obama’s 2014 executive actions on immigration “was a matter of public record.”

“If Judge Hanen allows them to tack on a DACA challenge, no doubt he will enjoin DACA,” said Legomsky, now a law professor at Washington University in St. Louis.

Politically it’s wise to avoid being seen as the person who killed DACA and so it is likely Trump will let it go to the courts so they can do it, since they don’t run for re-election.

Well what do you expect when you deliberately get in the way of traffic on busy streets?

Trans Lives Matter Protesters Mowed Down by Car During St. Louis Street Rally

The protesters stood in the middle of Chouteau and Manchester — two very busy streets in St. Louis.

Older white cis male driving a Mercedes just drove thru & hit peaceful protesters

Pix from car that drove through protesters, car stopped was surrounded, then drove through, one person ended up on hood, only minor injuries.

The protesters stood in the middle of Chouteau and Manchester — two very busy streets in St. Louis.

How do they know it was a “cis male”? It could have been one of the hundred or so “imaginary genders” which have been made up over the past several years.

How do they know the person was white? Many blacks go to great lengths to appear white. Look at Michael Jackson, for instance. And some whites even try to pretend they’re black.

Looks like the local PD plans to join the far left and make trouble at an upcoming rally so they can justify breaking some heads.

Police vow to ‘stamp out’ violence at San Francisco rally expected to draw white supremacists

I got a better idea. Just ban the left for a day, or at least keep them no less than 2 blocks away. That will prevent violence at the planned rally, but watch, the left will still get violent.

They can’t handle the truth – though they already admitted their bias. But “on edge”? They have been “on edge” since Trump first announced he was running and they went over the edge once he won.

They started a controversy for no reason then claimed they did it because of the controversy they started.

Now in the latest iteration of the story they’re claiming Robert Lee asked to be transferred.

ESPN president defends pulling Robert Lee from football coverage

President John Skipper said “there was never any concern” that Lee’s name “would offend anyone watching the Charlottesville game. The concern, Skipper explained, was for Lee and potential social media heckling.

“Among our Charlotte production staff there was a question as to whether – in these divisive times – Robert’s assignment might create a distraction, or even worse, expose him to social hectoring and trolling,” Skipper said in the memo.

And they’re trying to shame the people who shamed them for doing this.

Beware – MYSTERY MEAT! Where does it come from?

Cargill Inc., one of the largest global agricultural companies, has joined Bill Gates and other business giants to invest in a nascent technology to make meat from self-producing animal cells amid rising consumer demand for protein that’s less reliant on feed, land and water.

Memphis Meats, which produces beef, chicken and duck directly from animal cells without raising and slaughtering livestock or poultry, raised $17 million from investors including Cargill, Gates and billionaire Richard Branson, according to a statement Tuesday on the San Francisco-based startup’s website. The fundraising round was led by venture-capital firm DFJ, which has previously backed several social-minded retail startups.

“I’m thrilled to have invested in Memphis Meats,” Branson said in an email in response to questions from Bloomberg News. “I believe that in 30 years or so we will no longer need to kill any animals and that all meat will either be clean or plant-based, taste the same and also be much healthier for everyone.”

There is NO WAY the lunatic left will support this. They will find any number of reasons to say this is bad. Mark my words.

Wash. Times Politics: Lawsuit: County jails in Michigan shouldn’t work with ICE

A Mexican native living in Wyoming has sued a Michigan sheriff’s department, saying local authorities violate the rights of people they detain for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Juan Jose Romero-Lara filed the lawsuit Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Grand Rapids against the Kent County Sheriff’s Department. He says detaining him pending a transfer to ICE violates constitutional rights, especially when a judge issued a personal recognizance bond that would’ve released him. The 32-year-old from Mexico has resided in the U.S. for about 15 years. He was arrested and charged with domestic violence Aug. 17 and arraigned the next day, but ICE asked the jail to detain him until they picked him up Aug. 21. The undersheriff says the jail cooperates with ICE as a professional courtesy.
