    And what exact “policy on race relations” is it they’re upset about? That he isn’t standing for the LIES being told by the BLM and the completely dishonest protest started by a washed up NFL quarterback, who doesn’t even deserve to have his name mentioned?

    Wildfires have ALWAYS been an issue in California… the problem is that cities have expanded into the wild areas and there’s no way existing fire suppression tech can protect everywhere. Plus homeowners and businesses stubbornly refuse to build and landscape in ways that will help when areas do burn. Hot, dry, windy, low humidity conditions known as “Santa Ana” have always been the rule every year I’ve been alive – and long before I was born – in California.

    There is no place in the world that you can live without facing some sort of risk. Here the risks include wildfires, earthquakes and, very rarely, a tropical storm blows through. I’m waiting for that to happen – and to hear the moonbats falsely blame “climate change”.

    As they did with Trump, the false claims of sexual improprieties against Roy Moore are starting to crumble.

    The most credible one so far was the one allegedly supported by an inscription in a yearbook… and now the woman involved admits that at least part of what she insisted Roy Moore wrote was actually written by her!

    Beverly Nelson says Moore groped her in a car when she was 16 and tried to pull her head down toward his lap. Moore denies the charges and has claimed media outlets or politicians in Washington are trying to derail his campaign. The campaign has also challenged a yearbook signature Nelson says Moore left before the attack and demanded independent testing of it.

    Nelson on Friday acknowledged writing notes under the signature that were previously claimed to have been written by Moore. I doubt she really wrote it. It would be interesting to have an expert compare her handwriting to it.

    Another one was faltering – and they attempted to bolster it by suddenly “finding” a graduation card… with the same misspelled place name that was in the yearbook. Perhaps written by the same person – NOT MOORE!

    Hill never accused Thomas of anything that is considered sexual harassment under present or then existing law.

    Thomas never engaged in any sexual touching or of demanding sex in exchange for career advancement.

    And the most important:

    Thomas categorically denied every one of Hill’s allegations. And his denials were far more credible than she ever could hope to be. Consider:

    It turns out that Hill

    had preceded her committee testimony with the affidavit and a September 23 interview with the FBI that differed so much from her later testimony, both interviewing FBI agents produced affidavits detailing what one of them called “comments that were in contradiction with” her earlier statement. In short, they attested that none of Hill’s specific, headline-grabbing charges about Thomas during the hearing—allegations of lurid references to himself, to a pornographic movie character, and to an indecipherable description of a Coke can—had been made during their interview despite their request for any such information.

    To the questioning senators who were wondering why they were hearing these allegations for the first time, Hill testified that an interviewing agent advised her that she did not need to discuss subjects that were too embarrassing. Both FBI agents also repudiated this part of Hill’s testimony, stating in their affidavits that the interviewer had asked her to provide specifics of all incidents.

    Every witness who knew both Thomas and Hill stated they believed Thomas. A dozen women who worked with Thomas testified to the Senate Judiciary Committee (one by affidavit) with strong statements defending his character, such as describing the allegations against him as “unbelievable” or “totally preposterous” or deeming him “absolutely incapable of the abuses described by Prof. Hill.”

    So the question of whether this guy is even a conservative also needs some attention:

    #FakeNews? The elusive Jay Kaganoff

    There is something quite odd about the author of this OpEd, who appears to be a phantom. According to his byline, Jay Kaganoff is “a freelance writer based in Brooklyn. He has written for National Review Online and Commentary Magazine, among others.”

    He must have used another name, because a search of “Jay Kaganoff,” “Jason Kaganoff” and just plain old “Kaganoff” resulted in zero records found on both the National Review Online and Commentary Magazine websites.

    While a resume exists for a “Jay Kaganoff” in Brooklyn, it does not reveal any freelance writing work, or any writing whatsoever. While it is possible that Jay Kaganoff is a freelance writer who just dallies with writing on the side and does not use the proceeds from his writings for his main source of income, this author could not find any other writings by a “Jay Kaganoff” anywhere online.

    Kaganoff bills himself as a “conservative.

    But as far as his conservative creds, that is as far as he goes. Kaganoff does not come close to discussing rule of law, due process, limited government.

    While there is a Facebook and Twitter account for a “Jay Kaganoff,” neither of those social media accounts has been populated with one post. Not one. For a “freelance writer,” he certainly is not very keen to put himself out there. This author smells a rat.

    Trump’s Decidedly Not Hitler

    The ancient Chinese military strategist Sun Tzu observed, “an army without its baggage train is lost; without provisions it is lost; without bases of supply it is lost.” The Left’s supply train — apart from a number of rich donors — has been the handouts to allies under Obama from the federal government, unions, Planned Parenthood, and the fundraising capabilities and political clout of celebrities. One by one the administration is working to cut this supply train.

    The celebrities have lost all moral clout (they never had intellectual clout) with the never-ending, often thin gruel Me-Too campaign.

    So has the media.CNN alone has botched seven big stories this year. As Walter Russell Mead tweeted: “I remember Watergate pretty well, and I don’t remember anything like this level of journalistic carelessness back then. The constant stream of ‘bombshells’ that turn into duds is doing much more to damage the media than anything Trump could manage.”

    The CFPB (Consumer Financial Protection Board) forced financial institutions to settle with it and turned over $5 billion in penalties (Civil Penalty Fund) it exacted from them to community organizers allied with it. The EPA colluded with similar groups who would bring suits that the EPA would quickly settle with them, settlements that included millions in lawyers’ fees for them to continue their work. Grants from various agencies went to organizations and educational institutions, which would promote the party line on everything from climate change to riots over faked police brutality. Planned Parenthood received millions in federal grants a great deal of which — from 2012-November 2016, $38 million — was returned through donations. “The organization’s affiliates receive over half a billion dollars in government funding each year from both federal and state sources.”

    Last year alone, by way of example, the Service Employees International Union contributed over $39 million; the American Federation of Teachers almost $33 million; the Laborers Union over $27 million; AFSCME over $15 million. Almost every penny of this went to Democrats. These contributions do not include the organizers’ field work on elections nor contributions they have made to outside groups who share their aim of keeping the left in power. And a great deal of this money was extracted from members who did not share the views of the union leadership.

    LA Times writer disparages ‘Trumpian fantasy’ of moving bureaucrats out of DC

    I have become a bit of a connoisseur of the pomposity of Trump-haters who purport to be “experts” much smarter than the POTUS, who lecture him on the futility and foolishness of his moves breaking with the failed policies of his betters. So I am savoring this example from Evan Halper, who “writes about a broad range of policy issues out of Washington D.C., with particular emphasis on how Washington regulates, agitates and very often miscalculates in its dealings with California.”

    In full condescension mode, Halper writes:

    [A] familiar battle cry is ricocheting through this city: Move the bureaucrats out.

    It has the ring of a Trumpian fantasy. Dislodge arms of the federal government from Washington and reattach them in faraway places, spreading the wealth generated by these well-paid agency workforces and forcing senior bureaucrats to face the people they affect. …

    What a great idea!

    Of course, moonbats are against it.

    Michael Gerson of the Washington Post writes that Republicans have no limiting principles.

    They value certain political ends – tax cuts, a conservative judiciary – more than ethical considerations. When it comes to confirming judges who oppose Roe v. Wade, the vote of a statesman is no better than the vote of a sexual predator – or, presumably, of a drug dealer or a murderer. This type of calculation admits no limiting principle.

    What pious, one-sided nonsense.

    Democrats have defended and supported the Clintons for decades, who have mentally and physically abused women for as long as they’ve been in politics, along with enriching themselves greatly through obvious unscrupulous and criminal means. Yet, Gerson says, it’s Republicans who have no limiting principles.

    Journalists, who are virtually all Democrats, knew how corrupt the Clintons were and how willing they have been to destroy anyone who gets in the way of their unending quest for power. Yet they were willing to put this pair back in the White House in 2016. But Gerson says it’s Republicans who have no limiting principles?

    Not only has Bob Menendez been accused of taking big gifts from a supporter, but there are also stories that he had sex with underage prostitutes. Yet Democrats rarely say a word, and journalists rarely cover the issue. But Gerson says it’s Republicans who have no limiting principles.

    Right now, there is a Democratic Party leader who is a woman and touted as a presidential candidate who falsified her race in order to enrich herself. Journalists and other Democrats don’t care, but Gerson says it is the Republicans who don’t have limiting principles.

    Not long ago, there was a celebrated Democrat icon for over forty years who left a woman to a watery car death, all to protect his political power. (I do not believe that any Republican matches that fine résumé). Yet to Gerson, it is the Republicans who have no limiting principles.

    Meanwhile, another Democratic Party icon for over fifty years had been a leader in the KKK, was an obvious racist, and fought the Civil Rights Act. Yet, according to Gerson, it’s Republicans who have no limiting principles.

    Sarah Silverman ‘scared’ at sight of American flag – yet still claims to be patriotic.

    Comedian Sarah Silverman told the audience on her Hulu show I Love You America that, at the sight of the American flag, she “instantly felt very weird. It didn’t make sense, but I felt…scared.”

    Conflating “nationalism” with “patriotism” is a political construct that has nothing to do with reality. Silverman, like many liberals, have decided to define nationalism extremely narrowly. That definition equates the simple, heartfelt patriotism of most Americans with the virulent, racist nationalism of Nazi Germany.

    That kind of hyper-nationalism was endemic in all of Europe for the first fifty years of the 20th century. It led to two world wars and the Holocaust.

    The perfectly legitimate belief in American exceptionalism has nothing whatsoever to do with the nationalism displayed by Nazis. In fact, the attempt to do so says more about liberals than it does about most Americans. It shows the left living in the past when “my country right or wrong” and “America: Love it or leave it” were catchphrases heard during the Vietnam war. Following decades of scandal and those in power abusing their trust, few Americans compared to then take those words to heart.

    You can love America and point out its errors, its troubled past, or its sins. But without acknowledging America’s triumphs, its generosity of spirit, its dedication to human freedom, and all the things that make us an exceptional nation, one can legitimately question what kind of “patriotism” Silverman and her ilk actually feel.

    Utah ‘Monument’ Was a Reward to a Clinton Donor – Crony Capitalism

    The shrinking in size of two national monuments in Utah by President Trump through executive order was a long overdue rebuke to federal land grabs that have enabled federal control of vast swaths of American land, particularly in the West. As the New York Times noted in 2016:

    The United States government owns 47 percent of all land in the West. In some states, including Oregon, Utah and Nevada, the majority of land is owned by the federal government. Of course, it used to own nearly all of it….

    East of the Mississippi… the federal government owns only 4 percent of land.

    Part of that discrepancy is due to the vagaries of the Western expansion into the sparely populated frontier. Part of it is due to the desires of environmentalists to turn America into a save-the-earth postcard — take pictures and don’t touch. President Trump, who has unlocked much of America’s resources that were formerly held hostage by greenies and others, has decided to return to the people of Utah control of and decision-making power over the land of Utah, so you no longer need permission from a Beltway bureaucrat to pick up a rock and move it one foot to the left

    Although the Trump orders only refer to lifting restrictions on motorized vehicles and grazing rights, much of the land involved is energy-rich and was put off limits by President Clinton to deprive Americans access to those resources and to reward a political donor.

    A large part of America’s energy dependence on foreign sources can be traced back to September 18, 1996, when Hillary’s co-president hubby Bill Clinton stood on the edge of the Grand Canyon on the Arizona side and signed an executive proclamation making 1.7 million acres of Utah a new national monument, the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.

    So why would he dedicate a Utah monument while standing in Arizona? Well, this federal land grab was done without any consultation with the governor of Utah or any member of the Utah congressional delegation or any elected official in the state. The state already had six national monuments, two national recreation areas, and all or part of five national forests. Three-quarters of Utah was in already in federal hands.

    It was sold as a move to protect the environment. At the time the Clintons were worried that Ralph Nader’s presence on the ballot in a few Western states would draw green votes from Clinton in a race that promised to be close after the GOP retook Congress two years earlier.

    Bill Clinton’s unilateral land grab in Utah declaring 1.7 million acres a national monument and placing off-limits to an energy starved United States up to 62 billion tons of environmentally safe low sulfur coal worth $1.2 trillion that could have been mined with minimal surface impact was in fact a political payoff to the family of James Riady.

    James Riady was the son of Lippo Group owner Mochtar Riady. Young James was found guilty of and paid a multi-million dollar fine for funneling more than $1 million in illegal political contributions through Lippo Bank into various American political campaigns, including Bill Clinton’s 1992 presidential run. Connect the dots. Riady’s relationship between the Clintons, would be long and corrupt, even extending to donations to the Clinton Foundation.

    Clinton took off the world market the largest known deposit of clean-burning coal. Who owned and controlled the second-largest deposit in the world? The Indonesian Lippo Group of James Riady. It is found and strip-mined on the Indonesian island of Kalamantan.

    The Utah reserve contains the kind of low-sulfur, low-ash, and therefore low-polluting coal the likes of which can be found in only a couple of places in the world. It burns so cleanly that it meets the requirements of the Clean Air Act without additional technology.

    “The mother of all land grabs,” Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) said at the time. Hatch has called what was designated as the Grande Staircase of the Escalante National Monument the “Saudi Arabia of coal.”

    As a Democrat, no immigration attorney was ever called to the networks to tell the rest of the story of the birth of Barack Obama. However, had he been a Republican, the networks would have immigration attorneys lined up around Times Square just to make the most salient of points: If the U.S. Constitution confers American citizenship to a child born of an American mother, doesn’t being born to a foreign father also make him a citizen of his father’s country? The answer is yes. That is a condition called Dual Nationality. A dual national is not a “natural born citizen” under Article II of the U.S. Constitution. A Republican Barack Obama would have been ruthlessly disqualified on national television.

    Something to think about, though too late, now. 8 years of severe damage was done.

    Donald Trump created a firestorm with, “He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.” Also, “I supported McCain for president. He lost and let us down…. I’ve never liked him as much after that.” No one has ever received an adequate explanation why the pre-president Donald Trump had issues with John McCain.

    I submit Donald Trump cannot and will not forgive John McCain for not taking the obvious constitutionally ineligible Barack Obama to court. That he was a coward, that he was afraid of being called a racist. Barack Obama forced John McCain’s hand—either sue me to disqualify me or let it ride and let the voters decide. When it was time to show leadership in the face of a candidate who played the blood sport of politics, by not taking Barack Obama to court, John McCain simply capitulated and violated his oath of defending the U.S. Constitution.

    Donald Trump will likely never forgive John McCain when the country needed him the most. John McCain continues to thrust his finger in the air to President Trump. Donald Trump will likely never forgive Barack Obama for wrecking America.

    The Left clearly cannot forgive Donald Trump for questioning President Obama’s legitimacy. Dozens of articles were published in American Thinker regarding the veracity of President Obama’s birth certificate. The consensus was that BHO’s birth certificate was a forgery. Counterfeit.

    As time went on, candidate Trump got a little smarter on the whole “birther” thing, threatening to sue Senators Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio on their eligibility to be President. Both men had a parent of another country at the time of their birth. Candidate Trump isn’t afraid of taking anyone to court.

    The manufactured “Russian dossier” on Donald Trump is simply a little “payback” for questioning President Obama’s legitimacy. The Left will never give up, they will crawl over broken glass and will not rest until they unseat President Trump.

    It’s time to have the Congress pass a law that defines the “natural born citizen” clause in the U.S. Constitution as a person born in America of American parents. Also, a person born abroad of American parents (but for…) qualifies as natural born. We could call it the John McCain Rule.

    Liberals frame the debate over illegal immigration as a dilemma: either America grants amnesty to aliens or the economy will collapse. Some even imply that Americans will starve to death because of higher food prices – who will pick America’s fruits and veggies if not illegals? Bruce Goldstein, president of a nonprofit called Farmworker Justice, boldly claims that if we were to deport all illegal aliens, “our agricultural system would collapse.” Collapse.

    This is nonsense. American agriculture will not collapse without illegal labor. Why? Because there are plenty of technological solutions and American workers available to pick up the slack. It is time to put this myth to bed.

    Agriculture is not a labor-intensive industry, and it has not been for decades. Less than 2 percent of Americans work in agriculture, according to the World Bank. This figure has declined since 1960, when roughly 6 percent of Americans worked on farms. If trends continue, we can expect the number to continue to fall. This is because of the wonders of mechanization: machines now do everything from threshing wheat to milking cows. The bottom line: Most farmers do not “benefit” from cheap illegal labor, since their labor costs are minimal to begin with.

    The “exceptions” to this rule are fruit and nut farms, located primarily in California. Crops like raspberries and almonds are notoriously difficult for machines to pick. There are many reasons for this, including the fact that berries require a “soft touch” – they ripen at different times, and bushes are tough for machinery to navigate. These labor-intensive farms are the main agricultural culprits when it comes to hiring illegal workers. After all, they have the most to gain.

    But realistically, even labor-intensive agriculture does not depend upon illegal labor. Orchards could get by without illegal workers since only four percent of American agricultural workers are illegal aliens, according to a report in National Review.     Nonetheless, because of a desire to cover judicial overreach with sophistries that the elite leftist media could use to confuse the people as to just how much the people’s freedom was eroded by the Court’s capricious decision, Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote the following, gaining the concurrence of five other member sof the Court:

    Under the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, no State shall “deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law.” The fundamental liberties protected by this Clause include most of the rights enumerated in the Bill of Rights. See Duncan v. Louisiana, 391 U. S. 145, 147–149 (1968). In addition these liberties extend to certain personal choices central to individual dignity and autonomy, including intimate choices that define personal identity and beliefs.     The Court has used similar language in previous decisions, including this quote from an abortion decision:

    At the heart of liberty is the right to define one’s own concept of existence, of meaning, of the universe, and of the mystery of human life

    The intent of both of these quotes was to declare that the individual’s right to define who they are and what they believe overrides cultural norms and the democratic process, in the case of gay marriage, and science, in the case of abortion.

    Such a belief, that we can define reality rather than recognize it, is a symptom of the elites’ abandonment of both God and science. Both statements only make sense if one assumes that the autonomous individual has the power to actually create their own reality; something that sane people know is impossible. While we have freedom to react to reality we cannot warp it to our wills. Men can castrate themselves and wear makeup, but they cannot become women because their DNA does not change for example.

    Fortunately for civilization, sweeping declarations of expansive individual rights clearly support the rights of all individuals when read objectively.

    For example, the fundamental principle defined by the Court in its ruling on gay “marriage”, Obergefell, clearly and unambiguously supports the rights of bakers, photographers, etc. to refuse to support gay “weddings.”

    The Court has declared that the liberties protected by the Due Process Clause include “intimate choices that define personal identity and belief.” But saying that one is glad to serve gays but not willing to support a gay “wedding” is precisely a choice that defines personal identity and belief.

    Hence the Court now faces a quandary. They can either ignore what they wrote in Obergefell or they can refuse to impose the moral view of the left on all Americans by upholding the First Amendment rights of those who don’t wish to be forced to support something that is in direct contradiction to their “…choices that define personal identity and belief.”

    A thoughtful reader sent me an important Spiked article about “We Are More Than Gender.” Author Joanna Williams rotates through the ritual liberal positions on sex and gender that takes for granted all the gender-bending dialectics we have learned to know and love. Then she cautions her readers with the science from evolutionary psychology. Still, she says:

    Today, dominant understandings of gender disregard people’s own sense of agency in making their own life choices and shaping their own personality…

    Of course, not everyone gets to react to biology and society in conditions of their own choosing, and we might not always approve of the choices other people make.

    Do you see what is going on here? The author takes for granted the worldview of the People of the Creative Self, one of my reductive Three Peoples identities. She worries about “dominant understandings of gender” from the point of view of a creative person that wants a world in which she determines her own “sense of agency,” “life choices,” and “personality.” She also covers the lefty victim line that not everyone gets to act “in conditions of their own choosing.”

    Quite so. But, because Williams is a Person of the Creative Self she completely misses the notion that there are other people in the world besides creative people and their desire for agency and life choices, and that these other people would not have a clue what she is talking about.

    For instance, if you are a Person of the Responsible Self, you just accept that your religion’s cultural rules and the government’s laws are what they are, and that to step outside these guard-rails is not only unthinkable but evil. And for you the meaning of life is to live as a responsible individual inside those guardrails and thus earn your place in Heaven. So, for you, all the liberal gender-bending is the moral equivalent of driving the family car through the guard-rails and over the cliff.

    If you are a Person of the Subordinate Self, worker or peasant victim, you don’t think about getting creative; you don’t even think about rules and laws. You unreflectively do just what you need to do to survive another day; your world ends with the family members, bosses, government officials, policemen, and gang members that keep messing you about.

    By the way, our liberal friends that are so insistent about us getting creative about sex and gender and the avant-garde in art are notably noncreative when it comes to government programs and the economy. In fact, you might almost call them deplorable reactionaries.

    Hey liberals, let’s challenge the “dominant understandings” about Social Security and let the creative types at Vanguard and Fidelity gin up a new one! Let’s junk the whole dysfunctional health care system, get the government out of the way, and let creative souls invent a new one. And let’s let the Internet get creative without “net neutrality” enforcing a dominant understanding.

    Liberals like to repurpose words with positive connotations, like sanctuary, in order to add a false impression of sanity to liberal positions which are otherwise indefensible.

    In the case of the now ubiquitous “Sanctuary Cities” phrase, liberals hope to evoke Americans desire for fairness and our propensity to stick up for the little guy.

    After all, even if you’re some coldhearted racist conservative, liberals reason, your heartstrings will be plucked by the idea of cruel ICE agents swooping in on a hard working “undocumented” family who pay their taxes, never take government aid, and work hard at jobs where they are underpaid because “gringo” bosses threaten to call ICE on them; jobs which no citizen would do.

    Ignoring for a moment the prevalence, or lack thereof, of such illegals, and also ignoring the blacks who can’t find a job because “honest” illegals will work for less, the reality is that “Sanctuary Cities” have nothing to do with “honest” illegals.

    The only people who get sanctuary in “Sanctuary Cities” are criminals. Cities and states can’t stop ICE from enforcing the law; laws supported by generations of Democrat politicians, by the way. They can’t provide safe haven for “honest” illegals; not that they need to since “honest” illegals are not that frequently targeted even by the “racist” Trump administration.

    But what local governments can do is shield illegals who commit additional crimes in the US from being deported. “Sanctuary Cities” do so by preventing the police from notifying ICE when an illegal has been arrested for a crime. Historically the police would notify ICE, ICE would go to the police station and conduct a safe — for the illegal and the community — transfer to ICE so that the criminal could be deported.

    In “Sanctuary Cities” illegals who drive drunk, for example, are simply allowed back into society without ICE having a chance to deport them.

    That’s right; “Sanctuary Cities” exist to ensure that illegals who drive drunk or commit a wide range of other crimes don’t risk deportation. While the specific laws that illegals can break and be protected from deportation vary between different “Sanctuary Cities” they are not restricted to jaywalking, having a taillight out on their car, and littering. In fact, only if the offense is serious enough that the illegal is put in jail, at least temporarily, does the “Sanctuary City” policy have any role; if the illegal doesn’t go to jail the jail can’t notify ICE when he’s going to be released so that ICE can pick him up.

    The net effect of “Sanctuary Cities” is to ensure that illegals who continue to commit other crimes are shielded from deportation; that’s right liberal politicians are working hard to increase the criminal population in “Sanctuary Cities.”

But, as Professor Jacobson points out, it’s hard to see how Russia can “interfere” with the election after it’s been held. Flynn’s conversations occurred in his capacity as a senior figure in the incoming administration. That’s the normal business of diplomatic relations – and it is most emphatically not the business of minor policemen within a leaky and insecure permanent bureaucracy.

    So Flynn’s “lies” are not material – unless the Deep State is “investigating” the winning side in the election for engaging in the usual business of government.

    More importantly, the paper discusses the failure of climate models to predict or replicate the “slowdown” in early 21st century global temperatures, which was another oft-derided skeptic observation.

    It’s more than a little shocking.
