There's something inherently comic about the fact that politicians make things worse by worrying too much about something. - Armando Iannucci

Watch the video of the car launching into the air, just missing a bus and impacting into the 2nd floor of a nearby building.

    Only in California…

And speaking of strange things happening in California recently…

    http://abc7.com/13-kept-shackled-in-foul-perris-home-by-parents-officials-say/2948420/

13 victims, ages 2 to 29, kept shackled in foul Perris home by parents, officials say

Deputies located what they believed to be 12 children inside the house – but were shocked to discover that seven of them were actually adults, ranging in age from 18 to 29.

The victims appeared to be malnourished and very dirty.
There were 13 victims total — 12 in the house, and one who escaped and called 911. The victims, who ranged in age from 2 to 29 years old, were transported to the Perris Station and interviewed.

    OOOPS!

Should have stayed in Puerto Rico maybe?

    http://abc7.com/wrong-woman-killed-in-love-triangle-murder-for-hire-plot-officials-say/2940871/

A murder-for-hire plot spun out of a love triangle went awry when the wrong woman was kidnapped and killed, authorities said.

A woman’s body was found Monday in Florida’s Ormond Beach and later identified as 42-year-old Janice Marie Zengotita-Torres, who had been reported missing in Osceola County. An investigation ultimately revealed that Zengotita-Torres, who had moved to Florida from Puerto Rico with her family over a year ago, was mistaken for the target of a murder-for-hire plot, according to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.

Ishnar Lopez-Ramos, 35, allegedly hired Alexis Ramos-Rivera, 22, and his girlfriend Glorianmarie Quinones-Montes, also 22, to kill a woman who was in a relationship with a man she loved. But Lopez-Ramos, Ramos-Rivera and Quinones-Montes apparently mistook Zengotita-Torres for the intended target, the sheriff’s office said.

It wasn’t until the suspects took the woman to an apartment in Orlando that they allegedly realized they had abducted the wrong person. But they continued with their alleged plan anyway, the sheriff’s office said.

They allegedly bound the woman with zip ties, beat her and suffocated her with garbage bags. They allegedly dumped her body in Ormond Beach early Monday morning, according to the sheriff’s office.

The three suspects, all of whom moved to Florida from Puerto Rico on Dec. 26, told authorities it was a botched murder-for-hire plot in which Zengotita-Torres was mistakenly targeted. The sheriff’s office said it has located the intended victim, who declined offers from authorities to protect her.

What was that Trump said that Democrats claimed wasn’t true and was a sign he was racist? Something about immigrants committing crimes here?

It’s getting harder and harder to get a date in Detroit, apparently:

    http://abc7.com/man-allegedly-lived-with-girlfriends-body-for-a-month/2930680/

Detroit man allegedly lived with girlfriend’s body for a month

A man is facing charges after investigators said he was found living with his girlfriend’s corpse for at least a month.

David Hall’s neighbors thought it was strange he would keep a window open in the frigid temperatures that swept Detroit in December, WXYZ reported.

“My husband was like, ‘Why is that window open?’ and I was like, ‘I don’t know, it’s the dead of winter, that’s odd,” Catriana Baker said.

Then during the final hours of 2017, police were asked to check on the house by the landlord.

On New Year’s Eve, investigators found the body of 56-year-old Kandace Simmons inside one of the bedrooms.

Lt. John Wall with the Monroe Police Department said Simmons was dead for at least a month, but they believe natural causes were likely because neighbors said she was suffering from health problems.

The judge had no legal basis to drop Trump’s decision to issue an executive order to shut down a program that was illegally started by executive order and blatantly violated existing law. But that’s an argument for the courts to sort out.

“Varla” and I, and perhaps some others I haven’t noticed, presented an interesting finding:

California leads the nation in poverty.

    http://moonbattery.com/?p=91626

And the reasons are all the moonbats who are running things.

Well, some Californians have had enough.

    http://sacramento.cbslocal.com/2018/01/15/new-california-declares-independence-from-rest-of-state/

New California Declares Independence From Rest Of State

With the reading of their own version of a Declaration of Independence, founders of the state of New California took the first steps to what they hope will eventually lead to statehood.

To be clear, they don’t want to leave the United States, just California.

“Well, it’s been ungovernable for a long time. High taxes, education, you name it, and we’re rated around 48th or 50th from a business climate and standpoint in California,” said founder Robert Paul Preston.

The state of New California would incorporate most of the state’s rural counties, leaving the urban coastal counties to the current state of California.

But unlike other separation movements in the past the state of New California wants to do things by the book, citing Article 4, Section 3 of the US Constitution and working with the state legislature to get it done, similar to the way West Virginia was formed.

“Yes. We have to demonstrate that we can govern ourselves before we are allowed to govern,” said founder Tom Reed.

The only thing that bothers me is that my own county, San Diego, will wind up on the moonbat side of the border if this happens. Maybe not if it happened 20, 30 or 40 years ago, but we’ve been overrun by “immigrants”, the illegal kind, and despite claims to the contrary they, along with the dead and voters with questionable names who can’t actually be found, are voting consistently moonbat in this county now.

DHS seeking to charge leaders of sanctuary cities

    https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2018/jan/16/dhs-asks-prosecutors-charge-sanctuary-city-leaders/

Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen confirmed Tuesday that her department has asked federal prosecutors to see if they can lodge criminal charges against sanctuary cities that refuse to cooperate with federal deportation efforts.

“The Department of Justice is reviewing what avenues may be available,” Ms. Nielsen told the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Her confirmation came after California’s new sanctuary law went into effect Jan. 1, severely restricting cooperation the state or any of its localities could offer.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director Tom Homan says those policies put his officers and local communities at more risk because they have to arrest illegal immigrants out in the community.

Mr. Homan told The Washington Times last July that he wanted to see local officials charged as complicit in human smuggling if they shielded illegal immigrants through sanctuary policies.

I hope they will extend this to leaders of sanctuary states.

Get ready for yet another smackdown of a lunatic liberal moonbat judge and the 9th Circus Court.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5276441/DOJ-appeal-DACA-ruling-directly-Supreme-Court.html

Trump administration will appeal DACA ruling directly to the Supreme Court after federal judge orders president not to let illegal immigration program end in March
U.S. District Judge William Alsup granted a request a week ago to prevent Donald Trump from ending the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program
DACA has protected about 800,000 people who were brought to the U.S. illegally as children or came with families who overstayed visas
The White House called Alsup’s ruling ‘outrageous’ and Trump tweeted that it ‘just shows everyone how broken and unfair our Court System is’
Now the Justice Department will appeal the ruling to the liberal Ninth Circuit
But it will also leapfrog directly to the Supreme Court at the same time in order to grease the wheels of justice

The Justice Department launched a frontal assault Tuesday on a judge’s ruling that protected beneficiaries of the DACA program from the threat of its termination in March.

The Department of Justice said it would go directly to the Supreme Court to establish that the White House can legally shutter Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, an Obama-era executive order that offered deportation protection and work permits to hundreds of thousands of people who entered the U.S. illegally as children.

U.S. District Judge William Alsup granted a request a week ago to block the administration from ending DACA while lawsuits play out. He also ordered the administration to resume accepting renewal applications from people already enrolled in the program.

‘It defies both law and common sense for DACA … to somehow be mandated nationwide by a single district court in San Francisco,’ Attorney General Jeff Sessions said in a statement.

You can be CERTAIN the 9th Circus will side with the lunatic liberal moonbat judge.

Though it’s not certain, with so many lunatic liberals seated there, it is LIKELY the U.S. Supreme Court will put an end to this farce, should it actually reach that level.

  10. Bodhisattva says:

PEAK OIL AND OTHER MOONBAT MADNESS (including but not limited to Anthropogenic Global Warming, or as I refer to it, Catastrophic Anthropogenic Climate Change Alarmism… why hasn’t anyone worked out the acronym yet?)

In the 20th century moonbats came up with their best reason to stop using fossil fuels. No, I’m not talking about Catastrophic Anthropogenic Climate Change Alarmism – that came later and arguably was considered an even better reason by many.

I’m talking about “Peak Oil”, the theory that U.S., and eventually world, oil production would peak then fall of sharply, leaving us with a carbon based economy and no carbon to fuel it.

Through a number of lunatic liberal moonbat political moves that involved putting vast areas of the U.S. completely off limits not only to exploitation of the vast hydrocarbon wealth there, but also by imposing a moratorium on any attempt to explore, discover and quantify any potential hydrocarbon riches there, lunatic liberal moonbats did in fact bring about a temporary “Peak Oil” just as predicted and then broke their arms patting themselves on the back for proving they were so prescient through such devious means.

Well it didn’t last long. It did put us through economic chaos as the oil shock hit and then again as the price of oil skyrocketed – but in a way that was what saved us – because that happened right when the correct people were in power to say ENOUGH and tear down some of the artificial constraints moonbats had used to create a false “Peak Oil” in the U.S.

The result is we now have perhaps more proven hydrocarbon reserves, untapped or in the early stages of being developed, than any other country in the world, barring perhaps any very recent finds elsewhere that I have not heard of yet.

And as we bring more and more production on line we will also be poised to become the world’s top source of oil – in your face, MOONBATS!

U.S. oil industry set to break record, upend global trade

    https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-oil-record-shale-analysis/u-s-oil-industry-set-to-break-record-upend-global-trade-idUSKBN1F50HV

Surging shale production is poised to push U.S. oil output to more than 10 million barrels per day – toppling a record set in 1970 and crossing a threshold few could have imagined even a decade ago.

And this new record, expected within days, likely won’t last long. The U.S. government forecasts that the nation’s production will climb to 11 million barrels a day by late 2019, a level that would rival Russia, the world’s top producer.

The economic and political impacts of soaring U.S. output are breathtaking, cutting the nation’s oil imports by a fifth over a decade, providing high-paying jobs in rural communities and lowering consumer prices for domestic gasoline by 37 percent from a 2008 peak.

Fears of dire energy shortages that gripped the country in the 1970s have been replaced by a presidential policy of global “energy dominance.”

Never able to admit they were wrong, moonbats cry foul and claim this doesn’t count, because shale oil is not conventional oil and, they claim, when they made their predictions they were only talking about the kind of oil that comes out of the ground under it’s own power due to the high pressure of the deposits involved.

Any excuse to avoid admitting how wrong they were.

But here’s the danger – should moonbats get back in power they will use Catastrophic Anthropogenic Climate Change Alarmism to shut this down and force us into a state of dependence again, just like they did before. Make us weak and beholden to our enemies. Because, as we saw with Obama, that’s the way they think the U.S. should be – bowing and scraping, weak and timid.

But we have an ace up our sleeve:

“It has had incredibly positive impacts for the U.S. economy, for the workforce and even our reduced carbon footprint” as shale natural gas has displaced coal at power plants, said John England, head of consultancy Deloitte’s U.S. energy and resources practice.

This boom is actually helping the U.S. supercharge it’s economy while LOWERING the total carbon produced in the U.S.

Win-Win, yet you can bet the moonbats will still be against it.

Down… but not yet out. Could be headed there, could linger, but remember, the U.S. dollar is no longer guaranteed by gold as it once was, but cryptocurrencies are guaranteed by NOTHING and never were.

    https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-01-16/cryptocurrencies-resume-slide-as-bitcoin-tumbles-to-december-low

Bitcoin Fall Extends to 25% as Fears of Crypto Crackdown Linger

January’s cryptocurrency selloff got fresh impetus on Tuesday when Bitcoin slumped as much as 25 percent, as the prospect of regulatory crackdowns appeared to spread.

While the largest digital coin was down 25 percent at $10,338 as of 4:37 p.m. in New York, it was still at the lowest level since early December, according to composite pricing on Bloomberg. As Bitcoin halted its two-day rally, rival cryptocurrencies also tumbled. Ripple sank as much as 40 percent and Ethereum dropped 26 percent.

Some will see this as a buying opportunity – and indeed these imaginary currencies may yet continue to make some stunning gains in the short term… but unless they’re widely accepted, and not just by people on both sides of transactions, but by governments as well, they simply won’t last.

Of course that’s just my opinion – and others feel differently:
