Make sure to tell management why they lost the sale, and then post pictures and details on your local concealed carry/RKBA forum so that other potential customers can do the same. Although many businesses will stick to their anti-Second Amendment agenda, some of them can be brought around through reason when they see that law-abiding customers will only spend money if they can feel safe and secure while shopping.

Attacking Romney with a LGBT message for praising and commemorating Sally Ride is a good thing? Nice move MoveOn.org.

It is okay to crap on someone’s ideals as long as you can mock a Conservative/Republican. The only problem is the attack is oh so flat.

MoveOn.org is basically crapping on Sally Ride’s advocacy of Women in Science in favor of the LGBT agenda. Now that Sally has passed, her corpse is going to be trotted around as a hero of the LGBT community. Her ideal for women will be kicked to the curb.

LGBT has trumped women. How’s that for a war on women?

  9. Rides A Pale Horse says:

    @ Arty and AC:

We all know it’s called CONCEALED carry for a reason.

There are some businesses that have what I need and can’t find anywhere else so I routinely ignore the frickin’ signs.

So, you or anyone else, the business owner, customers, thugs, are not going to know I have a weapon unless (God forbid) I am forced to use it, in which case, should there be a happy ending, those in attendance, (thugs excepted) would probably be grateful that SOMEONE intervened.

And since the massacre here in Colorado, I don’t go ANYWHERE without being armed.

  10. AC says:

Ignoring the sign is okay if the sign carries no weight of law, however many of these signs go up because of sheeple who believe the signs work, and/or who discount the number of law-abiding citizens who carry. Making our presence known is a great way to counter negative stereotypes about guns and gun owners.

I’ve been able to get two of those signs to come down by my own effort, and in the process, convince an independent pharmacist to get his carry permit. The other, a golf shop run by a man who was friendly with me, was surprised that I religiously carry. He still doesn’t like guns, but at least now he understands the stupidity of trying to declare a gun-free zone.

Those signs need to be nipped in the bud before they become too popular and managers start giving them more credence than they deserve, per the bandwagon effect.

On the topic of the Second Amendment: of the 12 dead, 50 or so injured, and the scores of other Aurora, CO movie theatre patrons that night, certainly there were some among them who were opposed to individual carry rights. If we could ask their opinions now, I wonder what they would say. I would think that they would have preferred to have had the tools needed to defend themselves. I would think that even if not carrying themselves, they would have been grateful that the guy next to them was. And grateful that he was willing to engage the bad guy.

Which is the point of it all, really. I’m now seeing that carrying is not a right, it’s a DUTY.

For those who don’t see this, I ask simply whether it’s better to have it and not need it or to need it and not have it.

If you chose not to carry (in other words, if you chose to make yourself unable to defended yourself and your family), that’s your prerogative. But wouldn’t you want others nearby to be able (and willing!) to protect you and yours?

Further, if you aren’t going to defend yourself, why do you want to prohibit me from defending myself?

    I just don’t get it. Really, I don’t.

A local business has a very similar sign and I said to the owner since the picture was of a revolver, it must be OK to bring in a semi-auto or a rifle or a shotgun. He told me not to be stupid.
A couple days later his business was robbed, the robber was caught and interviewed. He stated he chose that business because it did not allow guns in the business. He did not want to take a chance on getting shot while robbing the business.
The business owner has removed the sign (there was an additional robbery before that happened). Two years later (despite an increase in crime in that area) he has not been robbed again.
P.S. he has an NRA sticker on the window now.

Louie – It has come out now that at least one CCW holder was in the theater that night but was unarmed because of a sign prohibiting firearms in the theater. Had that person been armed this entire story would have been different.

I went to the shooting range Sunday after the shooting on Friday morning and it was standing room only. The theater that night was a case study in gun control, between the state laws here and the business trying to be politically correct another lunatic had a ready made shooting gallery.

If I took two identical AR-15’s each with identical loads of ammo and put one in the hands of a lunatic like Holmes and the other in the hands of your gray haired grandmother and sent both into identical crowded rooms of unarmed people would I have identical outcomes?
Of course not, the weapons are morally neutral as are most inanimate objects, it’s the people that are the problem. Gun control will be as effective in preventing murders as Adolph Bloomberg’s soda law will be at stopping obesity.

Gun control can only work if ALL guns everywhere are eliminated which is impossible of course.

AC – I agree, criminals are extremely lazy and opportunistic. They always target the weakest prey available. I’m 6’6″, 275lbs and never have a problem with crime. Not because I’m a bad ass, but because there are easier, safer victims out there. Snatching a 60 yo woman’s purse is going to be a lot safer than trying to get my wallet. If I feel a hand in my pocket, when I turn around to look it better be Kate Beckinsale or they are going to die.

People… your country is devolving into a Collectivist/Socialist/Facists hell.

    yes, that’s true.

    For a lot of reasons.

Not the least of which is that there is never a fantasy that someone can dream up that someone else will not believe. That’s the genesis of liberalism.

Add that the republican party is full of RINOs—who have metastasized after GWH Bush gushed about a “thousand points of light and promptly signed off on the-then highest tax increase in history, simply to appease dumasdirtocrats– and then when the prodigal son, GW Bush started whining about “compassionate conservativism” in 2000, you knew the end of Reaganism was complete.

But a dime’s worth of difference is a difference that may be worth the money.

So remind me again which parties Peter King and Eric Holdem belong to?

The point is trotting out an old cliche that “they’re all the same, dagnabbit!” was not very enlightening in W. Wilson’s day and is still not very informative today.

    For some reason.

Similarly, bitching at everyone about how correct you are on this point doesn’t seem to have gained you much traction.

  47. Libtard says:

And BTW moonbrat, it may not have been lost on you that the reason we get guys like Dole, McLame and Mittens the Kitten representing the republicans, is bc of the Collectivist/Socialist/Fascist country we have devolved into.

The consensus (wrong) has been that someone in the middle who can work both sides (wrong), would be the best candidate appeaser for the republican party (wrong).

The Tea Party represents the correct response to this general wisdom (sic) that has all but destroyed the republican party, but which can still come back to once again, slam the toilet lid on liberalism.

The sickness of liberalism is a compelling problem, not just in the U.S. affecting the two main parties, but for the entire western world.

    Rob Banks,

    Interesting article.

Next to children, mathematics is something that liberals just can’t keep their damn hands off.

Professor Hack(er) makes the point that mathematics should not be used as a hurdle for advancement in academics.

    And his reasoning is that

“there’s no evidence that being able to prove (x² + y²)² = (x² – y²)² + (2xy)² leads to more credible political opinions or social analysis.”

Of course, that’s bc opinions are just that, opinions.
And who the hell knows what “social analysis” is…

    Further, Prof Hack(er) states that:

“It’s not easy to see why potential poets and philosophers face a lofty mathematics bar. ”

So these are great professions if you can get them – –get paid for your opinions or write papers on why society is screwed up (bc of Professors like Hacker); or you get to be a philosopher or poet.

    Fine.

Problem for Prof Hack(er) is that, for the most part, universities and colleges are already turning out people with these “skill” (sic) sets already.

And there’s probably 99% unemployment in that group. Oh ..sorry if you’re reading this Professor….That means 99 out 100 graduates don’t find work.

So let’s put it this way — Professor Hack(er) is not only advocating the dismissal of an important discipline that will thereby relegate people into non-paying, non-essential girlie jobs, he’s also unaware that we’re already doing so.

    Brilliant.

    .
BTW, Prof Hack(er) is a professor of ….you guessed it…political science.
