    Words matter.

I always refer to Evil Ones as moslems, rather than as “muslims”, which is what they want us to refer to them as.

Here’s a great explanation as to the reasons:

The War is not only fought with weapons and diplomacy, it is also fought with words.

“Today’s Western totalitarian propaganda apparatus, still operating under its former, respected title, the “news media,” functions on precisely the same mechanisms as the Soviet or Chinese propaganda operations described by Revel: suppress, obfuscate, dilute and, when revelation seems unavoidable, delay. And since, unlike their spiritual forebears in the fully communist world, our new propagandists do not have the advantage of a complete monopoly on the dissemination of information (yet), they are forced to rely rather less on direct suppression, and more heavily on obfuscation, dilution, and delay.
Consider the current spate of scandals surrounding the Obama administration. Most of them relate to activities that were known or suspected to be ongoing long before the November presidential election. The American “news media,” which in the past would have seen the obvious explosiveness of these stories, and would have pursued them if for no other reason than to “sell newspapers,” chose — collectively, without exception, which means by tacit agreement — not to let any of them out of the bag until after the November election. Now, like a house of cards, they come tumbling down, fast and furious, as it were. In each case — Benghazi cover-up, IRS targeting of conservatives, universal surveillance of private correspondence — the response of most of the media may be summarized as follows: first, deny the story outright; second, accept that something happened, but claim that it has been blown out of proportion; third, admit that what happened was pretty bad, but insist that none of it is in any way traceable to the officials at the top of the hierarchy.
Observed as a consistent and repeated pattern of response to every revelation about the Obama administration, this uniform behavior on the part of the American media creates an inescapable impression: the bulwark of freedom has been usurped by the spirit of totalitarian propaganda.
The key to the method, as Revel explained, is to ensure a sufficient time lapse between an occurrence of tyrannical behavior and the revelation of its full ramifications. This not only dulls the public’s response, an effect perfectly captured in Hillary Clinton’s uncharacteristically honest “What difference, at this point, does it make?” As with its Cold War manifestation, the truth delay also serves the more profound purpose of detaching the state’s horrors from the ideology that produced them, thereby protecting the ideology itself from public condemnation.
Leaving Americans to die without lifting a finger to help, and then concocting an elaborate lie to protect oneself from scrutiny, is not an anomaly, or a fatal “mistake,” independent of any underlying philosophy. Rather, it is a perfect expression of an underlying philosophy: it is progressive collectivism’s natural method, using “mere individuals” to achieve one’s devious ends, and abandoning them — to death, if necessary — when they are no longer useful.
Using the information-gathering powers of a federal agency to isolate, harass, and suppress one’s political opponents is not the wayward act of a few low-level bureaucrats; it is the normal operation of a totalitarian faction that seeks not to “do a better job” than the other party, but to annihilate all principled resistance to its fundamental transformation of a semi-free nation.
Forcibly collecting data from every electronic communication, in order to have the power to determine a person’s patterns of behavior, or to identify his contacts and associations, is not the product of a sincere disagreement about the best way to prevent harm to the community; it is an expression of progressive authoritarianism, pure and simple — of a complete disregard for men as men, in favor of viewing them as interchangeable objects to be arranged and manipulated for the state’s purposes, at the state’s discretion.
By obscuring such despotic acts, or allowing details to be released only in dribs and drabs, months or years after the fact, the American media is not merely, or even primarily, protecting Barack Obama. It is protecting progressivism, by reporting all leftist abuses as “history,” rather than breaking news, thereby implicitly reducing every outrage to the past misjudgments of men, rather than the defining nature of progressive collectivism. Just as in the earlier stages of the war described by Revel, the totalitarian ideology wins a moral pardon from most of its prey through sheer obfuscation, delay and claims of “noble intentions” — hope, change, fairness — regardless of what the facts might show.

The NYCLU, the ACLU and the Creating Law Enforcement Accountability & Responsibility project at CUNY School of Law have asked a federal judge to declare an end to the NYPD’s various Muslim surveillance programs, arguing the spying unconstitutionally targets innocent people based solely on their religion.
The New York Civil Liberties Union filed suit in Brooklyn federal court Tuesday, naming Mayor Bloomberg and Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly as defendants along with Kelly’s deputy commissioner for intelligence, David Cohen.
The suit says the surveillance, including the department’s practice of infiltrating mosques with informants, undermines free worship. It requests that the judge force the NYPD to destroy records produced through the surveillance and calls for the creation of a monitor to ensure the department ends its “religious profiling practices.”

The hubs of the post 9/11 domestic intelligence system are the nation’s 72 “fusion centers.”
Since 2003, with the assistance of Department of Homeland Security funding, these new data collection centers have been developed for the express purpose of “fusing” and analyzing information and surveillance from law enforcement, government entities, and private organizations. The 50 state-based and 22 urban fusion centers have been designated as the primary entities for analyzing Suspicious Activities Reports and sharing state and local terrorism-related information across the country and with federal agencies through the DHS’ Information Sharing Environment.
An official from an Arkansas State Fusion Center recently spoke to the press to clear up what he called “misconceptions” about what his office actually does, “The misconceptions are that we are conducting spying operations on US citizens, which is of course not the fact. That is absolutely not what we do,” fusion center director Richard Davis told the local press.
Fusion center employees are in a tight spot to justify the existence of their operations after multiple congressional reports over the past year took them to task for being poorly run, duplicative of other counterterrorism efforts, privacy violative wastes of money, or some combination of the three.
So what does Mr. Davis’ fusion center do, then? Why does it exist?
The Arkansas fusion center director, after having flatly denied that his office spies on US citizens, told the reporter the following:
“I do what I do because of what happened on 9/11,” Davis says. “There’s this urge and this feeling inside that you want to do something, and this is a perfect opportunity for me.”
Davis says Arkansas hasn’t collected much information about international plots, but they do focus on groups closer to home.
“We focus a little more on that, domestic terrorism and certain groups that are anti-government,” he says. “We want to kind of take a look at that and receive that information.”
So the fusion center does in fact spy on US citizens! Among them, “groups that are anti-government.” But maybe I’m getting ahead of myself here: perhaps Mr. Davis thinks that people who hold “anti-government” views should not be treated as US citizens?

Senators on Tuesday rejected building the 700 miles of double-tier border fencing Congress authorized just seven years ago, with a majority of the Senate saying they didn’t want to delay granting illegal immigrants legal status while the fence was being built.
The 54-39 vote to reject the fence shows the core of the immigration deal is holding. The vote broke mostly along party lines, though five Republicans, including Sen. Marco Rubio and the rest of the bill’s authors, voted against the fence, and two Democrats voted for it.
“I think we should leave that to the best judgment of the Border Patrol,” said Sen. John McCain, one of the eight senators who wrote the immigration bill.
The border now has 651 miles of barriers, but only 36 miles are at least double-tier fencing. Another 316 miles are single-tier pedestrian fencing, and the rest — 299 miles — are vehicle barriers that still allow wildlife, and people, to cross.
Sen. John Thune, South Dakota Republican, proposed the border fence amendment, which would have prevented the administration from granting any illegal immigrants legal status under the bill until at least 350 miles of double-tier fencing has been erected, and would withhold full citizenship rights until 700 total miles have been built.
Minutes after the border fence, senators also voted to weaken current law that requires the government to have biometric checks such as fingerprints or eye-scans for every visitor to the U.S. — a recommendation of the 9/11 commission that looked into the terrorist attacks on Washington and New York.
“When is our federal government going to keep its promises when it comes to the issue of border security?” said Mr. Thune, the sponsor of the fence proposal.
Homeland security officials say they are comfortable with the amount and mix of fencing they have now.

A Tennessee community college professor ordered her students to wear ribbons supporting gay rights and said those who believed in the traditional definition of marriage are just “uneducated bigots” who “attack homosexuals with hate,” according to a legal firm representing several of the students in the class.

Students in a general psychology class at Columbia State Community College were directed by their professor to wear “Rainbow Coalition” ribbons for an entire day and express their support for the homosexual community, said Travis Barham, an attorney with the Alliance Defending Freedom.

Barham is calling for the college to punish Dr. Linda Brunton and order her to apologize to the students whose constitutional rights he believes were violated, according to a letter he sent to the community college president.

“Dr. Brunton essentially turned her General Psychology class into a semester-long clinic on the demands of the homosexual movement,” Barham said.

A Columbia State spokesperson told Fox News she was not aware of the concerns but vowed to look into the matter. Brunton did not return a telephone call seeking comment.

According to her faculty page, Brunton is a member of the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Educators Network and lists diversity issues among her professional interests.
Alliance Defending Freedom said the professor told students to write a paper about how they were allegedly “discriminated against” because of their support for homosexual conduct.

Several students objected to the assignment because their religious convictions prohibit them from supporting conduct their faith teaches them is immoral and unnatural.

Barham said the professor made it clear they had to follow the rules of the assignment to receive credit and allegedly told the students their own beliefs and viewpoints were irrelevant – even when they wrote their papers.

The students were also barred from defending or explaining any other views regarding homosexual conduct, dismissing such arguments as “throwing Bible verses” at her,” the attorney said.

“When students objected to how she was pushing her personal views on the class, she explained that it is her job ‘to educate the ignorant and uneducated elements of society,’ that oppose this movement’s demands and to correct their ‘hateful and close-minded’ views” Barham said.

Last week, Obama’s political action arm, Organizing For Action, held rallies throughout the country advocating for stricter gun laws. Their rallies drew small numbers

We can thank the vigilant San Bernardino Sun for putting a spotlight on perhaps the smallest of the rallies.

In San Berdoo 3 people showed up.

The San Diego group Organizing for Action held a gun safety rally and march in Mission Bay Tuesday. A handful of people showed up and marched from an organizing point down near Mission Bay a few yards up onto a bridge where, apparently, the SDPD allows them to block the on ramp briefly until they think they’ve disrupted enough people’s daily lives that they’re satisfied their lives mean something and they go home.

In Wisconsin a handful of people showed up and laid around on the sidewalk pretending to be victims of gun violence, apparently. I don’t know for sure, the video was stupid, I didn’t watch more than a couple seconds.

Welcome to the Obama dog and pony show.

Throughout the hearing the two worked together, with Alexander frequently setting up topics upon which Joyce expounded. When Alexander said that the government’s surveillance tools had stopped over 50 terror attacks, Joyce described four of them. And so on. Over the course of three hours, the two faced little in the way of critique.

Rowe said, around noon Monday, beach visitors noticed their children coming out of the lake with a silvery, almost metallic material sticking to them, which prompted the beach closure.

Tri-calcium phosphate is apparently not dangerous and is used in a variety of products, including things we ingest – it is found in cows milk, for instance.

I was reading a piece on Obama and I don’t have the link, I think it was National Review perhaps, but the print version, that talked about how Obama is so obsessed, as has been noted here, with using the word “I”. But it pointed out something else as well. When asked to grade himself on his handling of the economy, suddenly the word “I” was the last thing on his mind. “We would get an incomplete on that” is a paraphrased rendition of what he said. Suddenly he wanted to distance himself, to spread the blame around, for the mess our economy is in.

Obama disparages and calls for an end to Catholic education.

There are in fact a lot of Protestants who hate Catholics in the UK and so I guess he was playing to what he thought was a solid majority, but as usual all he ended up doing was insulting and angering people.

He mentioned the Protestants but, funny, didn’t call for an end to PROTESTANT education, only Catholic, apparently.

    From the link provided:

Obama is working either to intimidate or legislate or even TAX religious freedom out of the public square.

Off the top of my head, I can’t think of a foreign visit to a Islamic nation where he told people on his arrival that they shouldn’t have madrasas. Can you?

Did he when visiting, say, Israel, say “You Jews shouldn’t have synagogue schools and you muslims shouldn’t have mosque schools.” I can’t remember. Did he?

Will obamacare hurt jobs? Survey says IT ALREADY IS AND IT’S GOING TO GET WORSE!

Forty-one percent of the businesses surveyed have frozen hiring because of the health-care law known as Obamacare. And almost one-fifth—19 percent— answered “yes” when asked if they had “reduced the number of employees you have in your business as a specific result of the Affordable Care Act.” Another 38 percent of the small business owners said they “have pulled back on their plans to grow their business” because of Obamacare.

Moonbat government employees who reliably vote Democrat get their comeuppance!

When Regal Entertainment Group (RGC) in April blamed ObamaCare for the fact that it was cutting some of its workers’ hours, backers of the law mounted a furious backlash against the theater chain, among other things filling its Facebook page with boycott threats.

Darden Restaurants (DRI) felt this intense heat last year after suggesting it might shift to more part-time work to minimize the cost of the law’s mandate that companies offer coverage to all their full-time workers.

Yet while private companies are getting all this unwelcome and hostile attention, local governments across the country have been quietly doing exactly the same thing — cutting part-time hours specifically so they can skirt ObamaCare’s costly employer mandate, while complaining about the law in some of the harshest terms anyone has uttered in public.
The result is that part-time government workers — many of them low-income — face pay cuts that can top $3,000 a year, and yet will still be left without employer-provided benefits.

See the link for more schadenfreude.

Hmmmm. Odd. While the stock market tanked as Bernanke hinted at the approach of an end to runaway printing of dollars to prop up the Obama regime, both gold and silver are down. My guess would have been a bit of a rise in both but glad I didn’t go with it. I wonder if people are cashing in bullion to take advantage of a buying opportunity in stocks? Will have to look at volume of trades since the announcement.

Admitted Terrorist Bill Ayers Calls Barack Obama an “Active Terrorist”

William Charles “Bill” Ayers, former member of the radical Students for a Democratic Society, founder of the ultra-violent Weather Underground, the domestic terrorist who admitted bombing the New York City Police Department headquarters, the United States Capitol building, and the Pentagon and amazingly beat those raps and proudly said years afterwards, ”I don’t regret setting bombs” now considers his old buddy, Barack Obama, an “active terrorist.”
Ayers married fellow terrorist Bernadette Dohrn and later befriended young Barack in Chicago–and, most people believe, wrote Obama’s best-selling books and dedicated one of his own books to Bobby Kennedy assassin Sirhan Sirhan–and went on to receive total forgiveness from the University of Illinois at Chicago, coincidentally the same school where Obama taught law.

Ayers may still be miffed that he hasn’t yet received a personal, engraved invite to the White House like so many other extreme leftists have but, then again, neither has the president’s former pastor and confidante of 20 years, the Rev. Jeremiah “God Damn America” Wright. Maybe they were invited to very transparent Obama’s Oval Office and the public just wasn’t informed?
