PETA Loves De Blasio

Don’t feel bad, Bill de Blasio. It’s true that New York’s Finest hate your stinking commie guts, but PETA still loves you:

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio was named 2014 Person of the Year by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) for opposing horse-drawn carriages in Manhattan and advocating other animal friendly causes, the group said on Thursday. …

This month, de Blasio formally proposed a ban on horse carriages, which supporters say causes horses to suffer by exposing them to extreme temperatures and heavy traffic.

Opponents of the ban say it would put about 300 drivers out of work and could result in horses being sent to slaughterhouses.

It doesn’t take much to please some people. But de Blasio has done more than ruin the tradition of Central Park’s iconic carriages. In addition to championing more enclosure space for tigers and tuberculosis tests for elephants,

The mayor also has promoted animal-free eating by unveiling a model of the Manhattan skyline carved out of vegetables when his city was named as the most vegan-friendly city in the nation.

Looks like they forgave de Blasio for killing Chuck, a locally famous groundhog.

The award does not place de Blasio in very good company. Past recipients include Bill Clinton, Oprah Winfrey, and Russell Simmons.

I used to, but that was before I got to know them.

Here’s a GREAT explanation, btw, for those still struggling with the concept.
