Plea for Trump to Keep His Word and Drop Out

If only The Donald would keep his word, or gave a damn what happens to the disintegrating Republican Party, or wanted to save the country from the impending Hillary Administration, he might find this ad persuasive:

The ad, produced by Republicans, will run in swing-state suburbs.

Never mind sporadic polls that have Trump only a few points down. We live in a republic, not a direct democracy. Polls only matter as they relate to the Electoral College. A recent analysis gives Trump a 1 in 10 chance of beating Shrillary — about the same as the odds of an NFL kicker missing a field goal from the 20-yard line.

Those odds will become even longer now that he has admitted that he has no plans to honor his promises regarding his signature immigration issue.

Unless something amazing happens, Trump will lose. He and his supporters know it as well as anyone, which is why they have been on the hunt for excuses and scapegoats. It is why Sheldon Adelson is withholding a promised $100 million donation, and why Trump isn’t even bothering to seriously prepare for the debates.

Shrillary is so corrupt, inept, and unlikable that any serious Republican candidate would stand a chance against her even now. Yet here we are, stuck with Trump.

On tips from Torcer and 762×51.

Democrats need to keep their ‘unfit’ opponent in the presidential race
WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — An unprecedentedly bizarre presidential campaign turned even more so over the past week as Republican nominee Donald Trump was labeled “crazy” in headlines and media speculated openly how the party could replace him at the top of the ticket.
But Democrats, too, have a vested interest in keeping Trump in the race as they field their own deeply flawed and unpopular candidate for the White House.
Trump sympathizers have charged that Khizr and Ghazala Khan were put on the Democratic convention agenda to talk about their fallen son, Humayun, precisely to bait Trump into the kind of reaction that was not long in coming.

Whether it was a tactic or not, the ensuing fracas went almost too far as it opened the door to speculation about actually replacing Trump on the ticket.

In the current rules of the Republican National Committee, Rule No. 9 specifies that the 168 committee members can name a replacement if any vacancies occur on the national ticket “by reason of death, declination, or otherwise.”

The three committee members from each state would cast the same number of votes the state would have in a full convention, and the same simple majority would be required for the new nominee.

However unfit they want to show Trump to be, replacing him is not something Democrats want to achieve.

Imagine for a moment that Trump gets fed up with the whole thing, or his family intervenes to save him from further embarrassment — both seem unlikely at the moment but it is a volatile race — and the RNC coalesces around, say, House Speaker Paul Ryan as the new presidential nominee.
Far better to keep Trump in the race, sucking up all the media oxygen with one controversy after another. This keeps the media spotlight away from Clinton, and eases the political pressure on her for her own transgressions.
If the Democrats can continue to discredit Trump without actually pushing him out, it will be more than ever Clinton’s race to lose.

    The Barnhardt Axiom.

You realize this applies every bit as strongly to Trump too, right? Tell me you are not so stupid as to believe for one second that Trump would actually do ANY of the things he is talking about. He’s just smart enough to know what y’all want to hear, and is saying it. You know how I know that Trump will never follow through on anything he is saying?

    Willing Demons

What is the United States? It is not a republic as it follows no semblence of its Constitution, the very foundation of its power, of
its authority. It is a system of terror, with the power to destroy lives with contrived charges; offhandedly encumbering citizens with debt and criminal charges on a whim. This is the very system our forefather’s fled and risked everything to resist. In effect, they have taken our citizenship, robbed us of our birthright.

    Yet, we do not fight.

Freedom? They watch us as if we are all suspects. Cameras
are everywhere; software tracks us; our new vehicles and cell phones will tell them where we are at any given moment. Our writings are recorded and available as evidence against us though no charges have been filed. The result of these intrusions into our lives will become the evidence upon which they will seek a warrant. That cannot be more backward from the intent of the Constitution.

    Yet, we do not fight.

Enemies of the people are encouraged to roam free among us,
often at the informal invitation of the government. Our borders are not secure, there is no will to discriminate between honest immigrants seeking a better life and those intent on victimizing legal and legitimate citizens of the United States.

    Yet, we do not fight.

Our economy, the very power that denies enemies to risk war
on these shores, is no better than it was in 2009. Every figure compiled by the government is a ruse, it is fraud to mollify the people. Politicians lie and contrive to further the fraud to secure their own power with no regard for the dangerous waters they have navigated at our expense.

    Yet, we do not fight.

The tax-paying citizens of this nation intent on doing right
and living within the laws have been targeted by the very government they support. They have become the villains while true enemies have been coddled and encouraged. Every aspect of their lives have come under attack; their budgets, their religions, their privacy, their pastimes and their associations. Anything that will undermine the society of the typical American has become taboo, while all manner of deviance and decadence has been promoted; cheered on to success.

    Yet, we do not fight.

If the ideals of life, liberty and property are not worth defending with our lives, we deserve none of them and have proved it with our inaction over the past ten years. There is not a single representative, senator, president or supreme court justice in office today who has not committed treason. Not one.

Vote? Are you kidding me? There is no reason, beyond
societal suicide, to vote for anyone willing to seek the office. It is a vote to destroy yourself; to forfeit your wealth; to eliminate your job; to incur the wrath of a jealous and vengeful government, because a government unloosed from
those noble principles upon which this nation was founded can become nothing more than an evil among us and those seeking office its willing demons.

The only thing left to do is fight. Though it is much easier
to believe in unicorns and watch TV.

Has this nation lost all critical thinking ability? Our government schools that good at driving out objective thinking? With Obama Americans voted on race, with Clinton Americans are voting on gender and now were encouraged to vote on personality. (rolling eyes)

Elections are no longer free. They are staged theater, designed to maintain the illusion of representative governance and to enrich the political class. This is despotism. If after this mess that we just went through, if you do not understand this, you are beyond hope.

    My God.

And then you have election fraud on top of it. Here in Colorado ten counties had voter turnout in excess of the total adult population of the [county]. Not just the registered voters – the total adult population of the county, excuse me, the county. And what did Romney do? Roll over. How can you not see this?
How can you not understand? Do not talk to me anymore about elections. There are no elections. There are no more free elections. Just stand over that dead horse and beat it – it is never going to get up.

    For the love of God.

I’m sorry, but there comes a certain point where you have got to pull your head out of your ass and deal with reality. You cannot just keep going on with this over and over and over again, saying, “Well if I just give somebody some money and I put some signs in my yard I’m doing enough…”

Interesting…particularly the part where those who routinely insult the establishment republicans all of a sudden embrace them to attack Trump. I guess they would expect that Ted Cruz would end up back as the candidate, but he’s burned so many bridges that the republicans could come up with a candidate even less-conservative than Trump.

The funny thing is, the Washington Post did a story back in July and they talked about Tim Kane (not Sen. Tim Kaine) as a possibility who really isn’t all that conservative either:

Kane these days is considered politically eclectic — pro-immigration and pro-free trade, pro-national security, fiscally conservative, socially moderate (pro-life and pro-gay rights) — which would help draw votes from both major candidates.

I love the progressive talking points though.

It would work out perfectly for you, since you’ve been working three times as hard to defeat Trump and Hillary.

  20. KirklesWorth says:

Your polls obsession is second only to your anti-Trump obsession. But of course, liberals use polls to try and sway popular opinion – kind of like suggesting three times as many anti-Trump stories as anti-Hillary stories. And the liberals are anti-Trump as well. Wow…coincidences, huh?

  21. Tom says:

So you’re saying that no matter which shoe drops next in the continuing Hillary Email / Foundation / Corruption / Failing Health scandals, that Trump’s “negatives” – from late August – would be impossible to overcome?
That no matter WHAT Julian Assange reveals in the next few weeks (and he assures the world that he DOES have more…much more), that Trump’s “negatives” would tilt the scales, no matter what, and that folks unease with Trump’s plain-speaking would, gosh darn it!, outweigh any further revelations about HRC’s crookedness.
Sorry, I can’t see it happening that way.
I say that after this election, the “Bradley Effect” will be renamed the “Hillary Effect”. Even here in blue, blue CT, (yeah, yeah…) I have not seen a single Hillary yard sign. Plenty of Trump signs – including a small homemade billboard emblazoned with “Make America Great Again. Trump 2016”, and a scattering of Weld or Stein signs, but NO Hillary.
Also, the Trump mini-billboard has been up for 6 months and it hasn’t been vandalized / torched. That might not sound like much, but if Trump was hated as he’s made out to be, that sign would have been smashed / burnt. My feeling is that there are an awful lot of “Bradley Effect” folks out there who don’t want to tell the pollsters that they support the guy the entire media apparatus believes is a bigoted hater, so they go the safe route.
Conversations with my neighbors along our street have also revealed surprising, not-what-you’d-expect Trump supporters and – again – not a single person who has told me that HRC’s the one for them.
    We’ll see….

  22. Stosh says:

Polls mean little for either candidate unless the pollsters show how they factored the following large groups into theirs…

Conservatives who see Chump as just another liberal progressive northeast businessman (see: Romney 2012)

Socialist Bernie supporters who believe the nomination was stolen from them, and will vote Green party without regret.

Independent voters that will go to the polls and only vote down ticker, or write-in a presidential vote as they see both major candidates as fatally flawed.

Voters in Dem & GOP, along with independents who will stay home because they found out the polling places are not handing out barf bags before you go into the booth.

It will make very little difference what “drops” in terms of an October surprise, the die is cast. The nomination of a Progressive for the GOPee candidate has completed the necessary preparations for an all out civil war.

Your little cesspool will make zero difference, it will go to Hillary as it has gone to every Democrat candidate since 1992 so no anecdotal evidence of your neighbors beliefs has any bearing on anything. It is more likely that they don’t want tRump but also don’t want to have to deal with Trumpeteers and their LDS / Scientology style bullshit so they just avoid it completely. You underestimate how outcast you all have made yourselves with all this cult like bullshit.

The Electoral College is what matters and there, tRump has almost no chance of winning, never did. That you Trumpanzees failed to take that into account is on you, not us. Doubling down on the mistake only compounds the mistake, it can never correct it.

She promised them, as they (Bush, Romney, Cruz, others) promised her: all for one and one for all; unless Trump becomes President.

Why he gets attacked so much… from that same part of both sides.

What’s interesting is: all the elected government officials (both sides) who aren’t attacking him. Yeah, they aren’t all out there campaigning for him. Too afraid if he doesn’t win, “they’d” become the next target(?) But they aren’t attacking him. That’s a good sign. They can all work together once he wins – fix this mess!

Hoping they’ve learned not to wear lampshades while in office. There’s an electronic device to catch them at anything they do/any email they send/any bank transfer into some account/any phone call/etc.

If Trump wins – we will enter the era of Honest Government. (If not, we’re pretty much screwed.)
