Pledge to Support Nominee Discarded as Party Unity Dies of Trump Toxin

The sun rose in the east this morning, and in less surprising news, Trump has officially discarded his promise to support the Republican nominee if he does not win the nomination.

Republican front-runner Donald Trump said Tuesday he could no longer pledge to support the eventual GOP nominee.

“I’ll look at it. I’ll see who it is,” the [supposed] billionaire told moderator Anderson Cooper during a CNN town hall.

Trump has both flipped and flopped on the issue.

The other candidates are also backing away from their earlier pledge to support any Republican nominee, Cruz for the obvious reason that Trump has publicly and viciously attacked his wife, the barely relevant Kasich for whatever inscrutable motives drive pernicious gadflies.

As explained at Hot Air, Trump abandoning the pledge now is not in his best interest. It is another example of the political incompetence that guarantees he would lose in a landslide to Hillary.

Whether the fractured state of the party results in a third-party run hardly matters. The Democrats have already won this election, which would have been a cakewalk for Republicans if not for Donald Trump — or to be more accurate, if not for the angry mob that has been committing an act of political vandalism by supporting Trump despite or rather because of his obvious unsuitability for the office.

Anyone surprised?

On tips from Torcer, Alphamail, and Henry.

Wouldn’t it be hysterical if Trump got the nomination and somehow managed to beat Hillary only to have a bunch of GOP electors go faithless and vote for Cruz, thus denying him 270 and throwing the thing to the House?

Trump Campaign Manager: Ted Cruz Had Nothing To Do With Nekkid Melania Trump Ad
Ever since Donald Trump had his ass handed to him by Utah’s voters, something that he’s going to have to get used to in the coming weeks, Donald Trump has been doing his best spoiled brat imitation by blaming Ted Cruz for the actions of a super PAC that is not even friendly to him. No one other than Trump and the low-forehead people he likes to surround himself with ever believed that Cruz and anything to do with the ad. To have done so would have demonstrated a degree of recklessness that is out of character with the way Cruz has run his campaign.

Now, Trump campaign manager and beater of women, Corey Lewandowski, used his temporary freedom on bail to say that the Cruz campaign had nothing to do with the Nekkid Melania ad. Via BuzzFeed:

Corey Lewandowski On John Fredericks Show by KFILE via #soundcloud https://soundcloud.com/buzzfeedandrew/corey-lewandowski-on-john-fredericks-show-2?

Donald Trump’s campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, said in a radio interview on Tuesday that Ted Cruz’s campaign was not involved in an attack ad on Trump’s wife, Melania. Lewandowski’s comments contradict his own candidate’s repeated claims the Cruz campaign was responsible.

Lewandowski made the comments on the John Fredericks Show, where he denied the Trump campaign had any involvement with a National Enquirer story alleging Cruz had affairs with five different women. Roger Stone, a long time Trump aide who is no longer affiliated with the campaign, was quoted in the story.

“I have no control over what Roger Stone does, doesn’t work for the campaign. He’s an independent individual who has no relationship with the campaign in any way, shape, or form,” said Lewandowski. “For them to intimate otherwise is completely inaccurate and it’s a narrative that they want to continue to perpetuate. The bottom line is Roger Stone is as much tied to this campaign as the super PAC that leaked that is tied to the Cruz campaign.”

Actually, the two things aren’t all that equal. Everyone involved in politics knew the people who run MMA PAC are not Cruz supporters and that Cruz would not risk a federal felony charge for something with such low payoff. In fact, had Trump not made a big deal of it, no one would even have noticed the ad.

Trump is a symptom, the disease is RINOism. Had the current crop of Repubs that could be controlling the house and senate stood up to Obama, a large percentage of conservatives would be supporting a candidate from the senate or the house, but alas, they have been rubber stamping anything Obama wants, showing no leadership or resistance which is what gave rise to Trump. For the record, I held my nose and voted for Cruz in my primary but I doubt it matters at this point

New Wisconsin Poll Shows Cruz Pulling Away from Trump
A brand new poll was JUST released by Marquette Law School, and it shows two important things: First, that Ted Cruz is pulling out to a relatively comfortable lead over Donald Trump, and second, that Kasich’s support is high enough to likely cause Cruz to lose delegates.
Via the inestimable Josh Jordan, who had this before Marquette even posted it on their website:

    Josh Jordan @NumbersMuncher
Latest MU Law poll in Wisconsin GOP primary (change from last):
    Cruz 40 (+21)
    Trump 30 (0)
    Kasich 21 (+13)
    Kasich will cost Cruz delegates.

It looks like Cruz is going to walk away with the lion’s share of the delegates from Wisconsin here, but likely due to Kasich he probably won’t get the shutout, as the splitting of the vote means that Trump will probably win a couple congressional districts.

Lewandowski Case Shows How Donald Trump Is Gaslighting America
Donald Trump is lying to us, and instead of calling him out on it we’re all still playing along.
The term “gaslighting” comes to us from a play called “Gas Light,” written in 1938 by British playwright Patrick Hamilton. The play focuses on an abusive husband in the 1880s who convinces his wife that she is going crazy. One of his methods is lowering the gaslights and telling her it hasn’t gotten any darker. It’s all in her imagination.

Donald Trump has been playing this game on the American people, or at least a meaningful portion of it, for five months now. Telling us that Trump University was a success. Telling us that he only worked with the mafia because everyone in his business had to. Telling us that his campaign manager Corey Lewandoski never touched Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields. Then telling us so what if he touched her.
Relying on Charm to Deceive You
The gaslighter has to be charming. The game doesn’t work otherwise. We have to trust people in order to deny what our senses tell us. When Trump said nothing happened between Lewandowski and Fields, Trump’s charm carried weight.

    Cut Him Off
The way to deal with a person who is gaslighting is to cut them off. Full stop. There is no negotiation. There is only a severance, at least until the abuser can deal with reality. Thus far the news media has been unwilling to cut this cord. But if Trump lies and you know it’s a lie, you have to stop the interview. When he points at a red wall and calls it blue, you have to shut down the feed.

The major news outlets are unlikely to become more like Detective Rough. They do well with Trump’s ugly lies. But we don’t have to. We don’t have to be gaslighted. “Gas Light” was written in 1938. Surely, almost 80 years later, we aren’t more susceptible to the scam it describes.

That is not logical unless the intent is to have Trump lose in the General election.
The worse that Trump becomes, the better for the Left…
Thank you for illustrating that for everyone.

Our belief is that, given the high level of party polarization existing in 2016, the election wouldn’t necessarily resemble the massive landslides of 1964 (Lyndon Johnson-Barry Goldwater) or 1972 (Richard Nixon-George McGovern). Instead of the winner topping 60% as in 1964 and 1972, it is more likely Clinton would garner less than 55% of the two-party vote.

Now, let’s suppose the Republican nominee is Ted Cruz and not Donald Trump. How much difference would it make in November? Probably, a Clinton-Cruz contest would be closer. RealClearPolitics’ polling average has Clinton defeating Cruz by about three points, while HuffPost’s average has Clinton winning by about four points. Unquestionably, Cruz would have a better chance of overcoming a gap of three or four points than Trump would of bridging a 10 or 11-point difference. At the least, Cruz could firm up the GOP’s chances in Arizona, Georgia, Indiana, and Missouri, and he could turn some of our Leans Democratic states back into Toss-ups.

At the same time, Cruz is well to the right of recent Republican presidential nominees and disliked greatly by many elected GOP officials. Moreover, goaded by Trump, Cruz has made some extreme statements on immigration and other topics that are sure to stimulate minority participation in November. In some ways, Democrats might have an easier time attacking him: Cruz is a much more vocal social conservative, for instance, which plays right into the standard Democratic playbook of going after Republicans on issues such as abortion and same-sex marriage. However, after Trump suggested Wednesday that women who have abortions should face legal consequences — and then backtracked — it may be that Democrats would have an easy time attacking him on these social issues, too.

The irony is that Hillary Clinton is a beatable candidate. She has unique vulnerabilities, many a product of being shopworn after a quarter-century of public controversies. Other Republican candidates, had they been the party standard-bearer (such as John Kasich or Marco Rubio), might well have started as the frontrunner. But Rubio is long gone, and Kasich is far behind Trump and Cruz — with no credible pathway to the nomination that we’ve heard. If either is selected as the vice presidential nominee, it will not fundamentally change the election picture. VP candidates almost never do.

Can Donald Trump or Ted Cruz Beat Hillary Clinton? A New National Poll May Surprise You
Trump is the Titanic. Ted Cruz is the Lifeboat.
    http://www.redstate.com/uploads/2016/03/RCP-trump-is-screwed-620×384.jpg
There’s a new Bloomberg national poll out, and if you ever had any illusions about the well-documented evidence that Donald Trump would be a Hindenburg-sized disaster as a general election candidate against Hillary Clinton, this should lay those doubts to rest. Trump trails Hillary by 18 points, 54-36, and the news gets worse from there.

Start with the topline. Trump trails Hillary 54-36, and even if that’s a bit of an outlier, it is consistent with a long track record of Trump trailing Hillary badly, including by double digits in 5 of the last 7 national polls; the RCP polling average now has Trump down 50.4 to 39.0, a result that would lose him more than 40 states and have catastrophic down-ticket results for Republicans in the Senate and House. We forget what a wipeout that big looks like: in the past 40 years, nobody but Walter Mondale in 1984 has lost a presidential election by as much as 10 points (we’re so far removed from that, we tend to think of John McCain’s 7-point loss to Barack Obama in 2008 as a landslide). And before you object that Reagan trailed by more than that in 1980, read this. Even at his low ebb, in a deep-blue-state poll taken in New Jersey just before his New Hamphsire primary revival, Reagan was viewed unfavorably by only 44% of voters.

Diving into the questions, we see the problem. Voters are not happy with Hillary Clinton, whose favorable/unfavorable rating is 44/53, a full 9 points underwater and steadily sagging since late 2014, and 35% have a “very unfavorable” view of Hillary – more than a third of the electorate basically hates her and will not be talked out of that view. Ted Cruz is in a similar boat in this poll: 32-55 (-23), with 32% viewing him very unfavorably. But Trump is in a completely different universe: his favorable rating is 29/68, meaning that he’s almost 40 points underwater. And his “very unfavorable” rating is 53% – a majority of the voters have essentially cast-in-stone disliking of Trump. Is it early? Sure, in some ways – but we’re less than 7 months from Election Day, closer than we are to when Trump first seized the national primary poll lead last summer, and by now everyone has a strong opinion about Trump. The cake is baked.

The cake is baked.

You can expect to see this question UNTIL you answer it.

Or else what? You’ll call me a left-leaning Trump supporter?

These are open facts, buddy. I’m not going to play this game with you, because I know whatever I say, you’re going to find some way to disqualify. I’m not sure why you’re so invested in having Ted Cruz as your Lord and Savior, but that’s your problem, not mine.

    1. Cruz hasn’t sued – for a Supreme court lawyer who brags how good he is – very odd

    2. Cruz’s email showed up in the Ashley Madison hack last year but was overshadowed by Josh Dugger

    3. Washington Columnist said he could confirm 2 of the women.

    4.
Robert Morrow is on vid saying a prominent Texas republican who runs on
Christian values was running hookers up to the Omni Hotel late at night
(Same hotel Cruz recently held a fundraiser)

    5. Amanda Carpenter
(alleged mistress) deleted several tweets about Cruz – calling him cute –
they got matching fake tattoos the same day and she’s seen wearing his
jacket – she also deleted a pic which is still on her instagram that
shows her sitting seductively on a bed with no wedding ring on and
condoms beside her in a hotel in DC.

    6. National Enquirer has
broken several scandals – when it comes to celebs they have a very good
track record, and always let the info drip drip out – John Edwards,
Tiger Woods, Charlie Sheen, Gary Hart, Jessie Jackson etc.

    7. Why was Cruz’s wife found suicidal on the side of a road by the police in Texas around the time period this all took place?

    8.
Rumors have been circulating for a long time and it was originally
referred to as #TheThing which you can find tweets dating back a long
time ago – not by Trump

    9. DC Madam Black Book was said to have a
sitting senator on the list – lawyer now says it’s relevant to the 2016
election – – you honestly think its Bernie Sanders??

    10. How many people have we seen run on family values and they end up
being the ones with very lil values? Cruz comes off as a cars salesman
and people who know him claim he’s not that religious when he’s not on
the campaign trail – his tax returns show he gave less than 1% to
charity. College roomates say he’s a nasty guy.

    11. Why did Cruz give Carly’s Superpac $500K? One of the alleged mistresses works for Carly…

    12:
Daily Mail reporters directly asked Cruz if he had been unfaithful – he
dodged the question & started attacking trump. All of his denials
have sounded lawyer esq (It’s garbage etc) Former CIA agent who
specializes in deception says Cruz acts deceptive when answering
questions about this scandal. It took him 9 days to finally say last
night he had been faithful – but he looked down & to the right when
answering which is classic of someone lying. Radar has named private
investigators who will be named this week in National Enquirer and you
can look them up – they have well known histories & are respected
    investigators.

    13. People think Cruz only went to Washington
recently because he claims to be an outsider – but he’s been embedded
deep within Washington since the mid 90’s. And the DC Madam records
    date back to the mid-90’s

I personally could care less if he slept
with a hooker, except for the fact he runs on a holier than tho
platform. I think what’s far worse is his Bush ties – he & Heidi
brag about being the first Bush marriage. Heidi works for Goldman Sachs –
wrote North American Trade papers & worked with the CFR (All
American Nightmares) – Cruz worked for George W. Hired Convicted
Criminal Neil Bush – Hired Jebs Finance team – Met with Jeb privately –
got Jebs endorsement. A vote for Cruz is a vote for Bush & a
continuation of his policies. Why this scandal might matter is they can
blackmail him and get him to do whatever they want. Which is how
politics work in DC. This scandal isn’t going away – the NE is gonna
keep dripping info until it’s all out. People like Roger Stone say
theres a lot more to come – and he’s been in this business too long and
has a very good history of knowing what’s going on…

    Not to
mention he doesn’t seem to have any original ideas. He just repeats
whatever polls suggest. He was for bringing migrants in before he was
against. He was handing out Teddy Bears to illegals before he heard
Trumps numbers went up and decided he too wanted to build a wall.
