Police Warn Tiger Fans: Enter Detroit at Your Own Risk

Detroit, centerpiece of the redistributionist LBJ’s Model Cities program, is the most liberal city in America. For decades it has been controlled by unions and Democrats, with predictable consequences. In the memory of living Americans, Detroit was a great city. Now, thanks to moonbattery:

Police officers greeted Detroit Tigers fans before their team’s win Saturday night with an urgent message: “Enter Detroit at Your Own Risk.”

The message, relayed in the form of a flier, was delivered by about 400 off-duty police officers before the Tigers won the first game of their division series against the A’s, My Fox Detroit reported. … It warned that Detroit is America’s most violent city and that the city’s police force is grossly understaffed.

The police want more money. But the private sector has been looted virtually out of existence, so there is no one to take it from.

If the Tigers make it to the World Series, the National Guard will be needed to maintain order.

Liberalism does not work. As the last lights of civilization flicker out, Detroit provides incontrovertible proof.

Take the tour.

On tips from Bob Roberts, wingmann, Gary A, Wiggins, and AC.

This is what 80 years of socialism looks like. This will always be the end result of giving people stuff for free. It might be too late to turn it around. Once the government starts handing out free candy, the hand will never do anything but stick it out for something else for free. I’m glad I don’t live there or any where near a big city. Good example of running out of other people’s money.

Prepping for Noah part deux no doubt.

This is a pro-union propaganda piece to vote yes on prop 2(collective bargaining rights to be written into the state constitution). As if it will effect the police union in detroit if it does not pass.

We were in the pennant race last year and nothing like this was ever circulated. Nor were there any major instances against fans.

  15. Sam Adams says:

Preacher man, I can see your love for Detroit, but, seriously, do you see the problems with the city?

No food chain will locate there.
Friend of mine in the electroplating business told me about how some folks got a van and crashed through the cinderblock wall of a plating plant just so they could steal the nickel anodes.
Homes are being bulldozed because there is little likelihood that anyone will live in them ever again.
And generation after generation of liberal governance.

    Probably more hopeless than California.

  18. Arkie says:

Son of a preacher man, thanks for putting this video in perspective, which made it all the more depressing. The incestuous relationship between crooked unions and crooked politicians is probably about 99% responsible for these conditions. So now they have made a video pointing out how bad things are in an effort to get voters to pass a measure that would give them even more power, ultimately making things even worse. Sigh.

I love ya, Dave. But it’s not Liberalism that doesn’t work: it’s blacks. They run the show there (as well as S Africa, and lots of other cities and countries), and the result, when they are left to their own devices, is ALWAYS the same – garbage…

  23. deepred says:

Fred C.D. your right. Was’nt Robocop filmed in Detroit?

Even a broken clock is right twice a day. Detroit police officers are hideously underpaid compared to their suburban counterparts, despite their job being much more difficult and dangerous.

Detroit police officers have earned their hazard pay.

If leftists could afford to pay the police instead of squandering money on bureaucrats, graft, and pork projects, perhaps the career criminals could be taken off the streets so producers would feel safe enough to return (the tax rates are another issue).

Detroit’s #1 problem is crime. Producers and law-abiding citizens want nothing to do with New Mogadishu.

Public safety is the foremost responsibility of government. Detroit is a failed government.

  26. James McEnanly says:

RoboCop was set in Detroit, but filmed in Irving,Texas. Even in 1994, It was thought to be too dangerous to film in Detroit.

  27. son of a preacher man says:

    What Detroit pays their cops.

“Even a broken clock is right twice a day.”

    Please explain.

I simply pointed out the reason for the cops passing out flyers in the article sited above is just to hype support for a pro-union proposal. It has nothing to do with possible violence against the fans. Come game day there is a cop on every other block from the stadium to Greek Town. But what do I know I only live less than 5 miles from the city.

    “If leftists could afford…”

You are preaching to the choir.

  28. FrankW says:

I have been a proponent of using Detroit for military training, with live ammo. Perfect area for training urban warfare.

  29. AC says:

    Please explain.

Unions are like broken clocks – twice a day, they will show the right time, even though they are wrong for the rest of the day.

Police pay in Detroit is among the worst in cities of comparable sizes and costs of living despite the job being much more aggravating and dangerous. No sane police officer with options would want to choose Detroit. The ones who do must be held there by family or too bad to find jobs elsewhere.

Taxpayers can continue flushing money down the rathole in Detroit, but none of it will do any good unless Detroit can hire more officers and better officers to push the felons out of the areas still worth saving.

  30. AC says:

I agree that the unions are exploiting the situation. Union largess is preventing more money form being spent on patrolmen. That being said, their point about the pay being comparably bad, considering the risks, does hold water.

Solution: cut the union bosses off at the kneecaps, fire some bureaucrats elsewhere, cut other waste, then direct the savings into hiring more patrolmen and boosting salaries for the detectives whose casework is responsible for taking high-level persistent felony offenders off the street.

I know about the free phone offer from Obama. But who the hell was giving away free johnny boats back in the day?
