Profiles in Countermoonbattery: Shaquille O’Neal

Not all NBA players are on the same page as the bootlicking LeBron James, who denounced Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey for tweeting “Fight for Freedom, Stand with Hong Kong” against China’s tyrannical communist regime.

Via CBS News:

“One of our best values here in America is free speech — we’re allowed to say what we want to say and we are allowed to speak out on injustices and that’s just how it goes and if people don’t understand that that’s something they have to deal with,” Shaq said on TNT’s pregame show on opening night of the NBA season.

Shaq continues:

“Daryl Morey was right — whenever you see something going on anywhere in the world, you should have the right to say, ‘That’s not right.’”

These days, you have to be a legend to get away with saying something that true.

Shaq has been retired since 2011. It would be sad to think that he represents a past generation of NBA players capable of respecting liberty, which has given way to a generation of LeBron Jameses spewing whiny social justice hogwash. But then, maybe Shaq will help inspire character to make a comeback.

On a tip from Bluto.
