Remembering When Tornados Were Caused by Global Cooling

As leftist demagogues attempt to capitalize on the carnage in Oklahoma by shrieking that tornados are caused by global warming, let’s take a look back at what statist liars were screeching a generation ago:

…et cetera, ad nauseam. Liberals are like Aztec priests who threaten terrible weather if we don’t make the outlandish sacrifices they demand. That grown adults in the 21st century take them seriously is appalling.

I remember when EVERYTHING on earth was going to end because of global cooling if we did not do something RIGHT THIS SECOND. We were only 10 years away from a new Ice Age, where North America would be covered in ice and uninhabitable.

And that was in the mid 1970’s…

  2. F.D.R. in Hell says:

We could use a little Global Cooling down here.

  3. Eleanor in Hell says:

    Shut up, you old coot.
You and Lucy were big fans of Warm Springs, Georgia.

Global Warming/Cooling is climate change! The peasants must be encouraged to abandon all of their luxuries, heat, cooling, hot water, transportation, electric light and large homes.

Prisons for peasants will save earth! As soon as Al Gore begins buying prisons, this will be the message!

My biology teacher was peddling this crap back in 1961. I also remember him stating “You young fellows better enjoy your cars while you can because in 25 years there will be no more oil.” What a jerk!!!

  6. octa bright says:

Assuming that carbon dioxcide is the cause of climate change (I question that) then that battle is lost. the PRC, the Russian Republic, the Republic of India, and the United States of Brazil are building new coal powered generating plants that will completely overwhem anything we can do.
We need to figue out what the effects of global warming will be on us and make sure we have the design margin to survive them. If there is a true problem then one of the first steps theat need to be taken is to amend the endangered species act so that hydroelectric dams are exempt. Another step is a crash program to build more nuclear plants for electricity. Unless that happens I will continue to equate the global warming/ climate change alarmist with snake oil salesmen.

Wow, a half a billion dollars’ damage. That was back when $500 million was a lot of money. Now it’s a modest investment in a solar panel company.

  8. Ghost of FA Hayek says:

Liberals are like Aztec priests who threaten terrible weather if we don’t make the outlandish sacrifices they demand.
And being loyal followers of Marx, they have turned to sacrificing producers.

  9. StanInTexas says:

I will admit there is a crisis when the people that are telling me there is a crisis live their OWN lives as if there is a crisis.

  10. Rotohammer says:

StanInTexas, I remembered well your position when reading about the dem congressman lecturing conservatives about the Oklahoma tornado and climate change.

  11. Doug says:

I believe I found the reason the world stopped cooling and began heating:
