Soda Repression Spreads

Every new incursion against what remains of our liberty is merely the thin edge of a wedge. No matter how absurd, you had to know that the bizarre jihad against soda pop by NYC’s authoritarian mayor would spread. Now Howard County in moonbatty Maryland will no longer permit “sugary drinks” to be sold on county property or to be served at any meeting hosted by the county.

Once again the pretext is childhood obesity hysteria. Yelps food Nazi Highsmith Vernick:

“We are about to raise the first generation of kids that will not live as long as their parents.”

It must not have occurred to the highhanded Highsmith that today’s kids’ parents didn’t grow up under a regime of totalitarian moonbattery, and consequently consumed much more sugar, in addition to engaging in all manner of behaviors now considered unacceptably unhealthy.

If children are less fit, it is because they are so smothered by overprotective parents and a country terrified of lawsuits that they never get any exercise.

Enjoy your Dr Pepper while you can. As with cigarettes, we can expect ever more exorbitant punitive taxes and ever broader bans. Eventually, Mexicans will be smuggling in soda along with hard drugs.

Nothing is so harmless that liberals won’t tax and restrict it in the name of safety.

All because people cannot be allow to make choices for themselves and accept the consequences of their actions.

But let’s legalize drugs because those same people will be completely responsible in their drug usage!

Too bad these same folks aren’t as concerned with the skyrocketing STD rates in NYC (VD for all you old folks out there) and, oh, how about those abortion numbers? You can’t drink a pepsi while you’re killing your baby!

  3. MuayTyson says:

I support abortion whole heartedly. I would much rather ghetto rats use my tax dollars to suck out those criminal larva then pay for thier inprisonment.

  4. czar of sodas says:

Comrades these sodas are a kapitalist pig plot to stop your thirst and need for caffeine and sugar rush. For the good of the collective you will not be permitted to partake of pop. The beet ration will be increased to offset any discomfort. Forward to the glorious rainbow utopia!

actually, the problem is that the totalitarians stepped in and created a solution as to sugar, and the soda companies stopped using the white sugar and started using corn syrup.

now that their fix has caused obesity, they want to stop them from drinking corn syrup too much. but of course, wont stop subsidies to farms so that corn syrup seems cheaper than white sugar which you get from sugar cane or sugar beets… the first does not grow in the US as it does in certain other countries that not buying from helps affecting them

In the end, and politicall speaking, the American people always get exactly what they deserve. There’s a price to pay for being gullible, weak, and stupid. And the check’s on it’s way.

In other news, the EPA today announced that sugary drinks are now considered a pollutant and now fall under its jurisdiction. Agency spokesman Tashtika Rodriguez-Washington said in an agency news conference that since these drinks are made largely from water, they fall under the “spirit of the Clean Water Act” and will be regulated as a pollutant. The new regulations were open for public comment for a 10 minute period late Sunday evening to “largely supportive comments”, neither of which objected to the new regulations.

Under these regulations, a new 2.3% national payroll tax will be levied to pay for printing, staffing and costs of administration.

Diet drinks, which are consumed almost entirely by women, are exempt from these regulations and are expected to be regulated jointly by the Food and Drug Administration and the Food Safety Commission, with details to be announced by Michell Obama and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg at the White House on Tuesday.

Revenue collection and enforcement will be handled by the IRS, which will be adding an estimated 17,000 new agents as it ramps up reporting requirements and funded by $270 billion in anticipated Medicare savings and unused Hurricane Sandy Relief funds.
