Solving Student Debt

Student debt is a major problem largely because of the government, which has nationalized student loans and driven up the cost of tuition with subsidies. More government in the form of welfare for the relatively rich (i.e., free tuition) is not the solution. The solution, as always, is less government.

The profit motive compels the private sector to fix problems whenever Big Government allows it. John Stossel shows how free enterprise could make college affordable again through income share agreements:

“It is a win-win situation for everyone involved in it.” That sums up capitalism. But it is not a win-win situation for those involved only in destroying capitalism. How are leftists going to recruit new social justice warriors if economic forces drive students toward majors that prepare them for constructive employment?
