The Raw Essence of the Welfare State

Mac Slavo sums up the welfare state nicely:

In America, those who work get punished. Those who don’t, get a free ride, courtesy of a nationwide policy of spreading the wealth around through confiscation and redistribution.

This is known in liberal circles as “social justice.” If it doesn’t enrage you, have a listen to what a freeloader named Lucy had to say when she called in to a show on Austin’s KLBJ:

“While workers out there or people like you that are preaching morality at people like me living on welfare, can you really blame us?

“I mean, I get to sit home. I get to go visit my friends all day. I even get to smoke weed. Me and my friends, people that I know that are illegal immigrants that don’t contribute to society, we still gonna get paid. Our check’s gonna come in the mail every month, and it’s gonna be on time, and we get subsidized housing. We even get presents delivered for our kids on Christmas. Why should I work?

“So, you know what?

“Y’all get the benefit of saying, ‘Oh, look at me, I’m a better person’ … because y’all go to go work. We’re the ones getting paid. So can you really blame us?”

What is to motivate Lucy to start pulling the cart instead of riding in it, morality? Our country formerly dispensed with morality back in the Clinton era.

Of every form of slavery ever devised, welfare statism is the most unjust, because it enslaves the best to the worst, punishing every quality that lifts the human race, and rewarding every flaw that drags it down.

No society that doesn’t cure itself of liberalism can hope to survive, or should even want to.

We have become a pathetically weak and gullible society, one that does not seem to have any limit to the amount of abuse we are willing to tolerate. It is that fact that produces parasites like “Lucy”. And, she’s right. God put fools on earth to be taken advantage of, and that’s all she’s doing. Don’t blame her for (our) weakness and stupidity.

  2. JTW says:

And “Lucy” is right too. Under the current system, what incentive is there for her to change her life and get a job?
When any job she gets will only lead to her dropping in her standard of living, while letting her have less time (as well as less money) to do the things she wants to do?

I’m all for providing that “safety net” for those who lose their job (for a sensible period so they don’t lose their homes while searching for a new one) or become disabled (depending on the disability maybe for a sensible period while they get retraining for other work they can still do with their reduced capabilities), but the current system (on both sides of the Pond) has as you state gone way beyond that, drifting towards creating a permanent class of well to do who leech off of the new social underclass, those with salaries of up to 3-4 times median wage.

  3. Wilberforce says:

Oh, how I’d love to watch as the checks just stopped coming in and reality clobbered them. Harshly.

  4. Louie says:

    Typical, and therefore not unexpected.

Work or die, same as me, bitch.

It is not the government’s money to hand out as they please — it’s our money, yours and mine, which they have confiscated from us and which we have (unfortunately), through election, entrusted to them to handle on our behalf. They are doing a very crappy job of it, and this needs to be remedied.

Charity (welfare) needs to come from friends, family, church, philanthropists, etc. In short, it needs to be given freely and knowingly, rather than forcibly taken from each of us against our will. I do not want people like this to be supported on my dime. Get a job. Take responsibility for yourself and the children you opted to create. Find some dignity.

It is not the government’s place to support everyone (including illegals and other non-citizens). Government’s place is to provide for a national defense, handle some huge infrastructure projects which would otherwise be unachievable, and apart from that more or less just stay out of the way. To mind their own business, which does not mean to become involved in my business, which is simply none of their business. At all.

    Government is the problem.

    Thanks, Gipper.

    Who is John Galt?

  6. As the percent of American that don’t pay taxes grows, the message above is falling upon more deaf ears each day.

  7. metalgarth says:

Look, I make a shitload of money, and will pay more in federal taxes this year than any of you will make in overall income,

Yes, and we all believe you. Is your name Elmer Fudd? Do you own a mansion and yacht?

  8. IslandLifer says:

    Not so fast,
Wow. They really do make them that stupid. You make a ton of $$ huh? You’re soooooo cool and special! I hope one day I can be just like you!!! Are you one of those pathological liars I’ve been hearing a lot about lately?

Just to connect the dots, this is a war between good and evil. While Lucy the Looser is not one of the ruling class slave masters, she is nevertheless still a servant of evil and should be dealt with accordingly.

There is no peaceful path back to the freedom that once was America. Evil cannot be overcome by peace, it can only be defeated by force of arms. This has been proven repeatedly throughout human history. War is forced upon us and each must decide if they will live as slaves or die as free people. I die free.

Sounds like Lucy needs to come down with a bad case of “two broken legs and a cracked skull”

  12. nope. says:

You miss the point. You fuckers always miss the point.

You don’t like welfare? If welfare pays better than work, the solution is not to make welfare even worse… it is to guarantee that work is BETTER.

Call your congresscritters. Demand a higher minimum wage and demand higher taxes on billionaires. Those 2 things will solve huge chunks of our problems at a single blow.

Or, whine. Rant about nonsense. It is, after all, the only thing you idiots ever do.

  13. Rudolf Hister says:

Get it while you can Lucy. The tipping point has been reached.

  14. Thread Winner says:

@Louie Grand Slam. Too bad I missed out on the super duper smart troll who is so busy they have nothing better to do than troll the *evul* vast right wing conspiracy (gasp!) pages. I would tell them about a truckdriver who pays $20,000 a year in taxes.

  15. Jason Gray says:

Nope’s general consensus is that we have to punish business owners and drive jobs overseas in order to drag Lucy and the rest of the welfare trash out of the ghettos and trailer parks and into the workforce.

With that kind of assbackwards, logic free thinking I’m guessing you have a future in the Democratic Party.

  16. Yuup says:

I fart in your general direction, a barbecue and chips blast of flatulence, may it linger in your nostrils for an extended period.

  17. True Blue says:

    Allow me to retort:

Call your congresscritters. Demand a higher minimum wage

So that inflation can gobble down your earnings as retailers and manufacturers raise prices to offset the higher costs. Raises in “minimum wage” only Lower the value of the wages You worked and learned new skills to earn.

and demand higher taxes on billionaires.

So there are fewer and fewer jobs, by stealing from the few that have earned the ability to buy things or run corporations that can pay wages in the first place.

Two people are adrift in the ocean, one is a good swimmer and the other is not. Should the good swimmer work themselves to death trying to keep the other afloat? Once he or she is worn out and too tired to keep themselves afloat, BOTH will drown; instead of one fool drowning and one person who took the time and effort to learn to swim surviving.
How about we just Cut off All welfare and either you sink or you swim?
    Make work “better”?
Yes, make my hammer lighter and my nails shorter so that my job is “easier” and damn all -what do I care if the house collapses?
Work is hard, it takes discipline; life is not all fun and games -and you know what?
I LIKE that my job is not Easy; I LIKE having a skill set that took me YEARS to attain; I feel GOOD about myself and have PRIDE in myself for those skills -that I have and You do not. You will NEVER have that same feeling as a leech and a looter. All you can do is throw bricks through the stained glass windows made by your betters and cry about how “unfair” it is.

In case that didn’t sink in, I did well in school, I worked hard there too; at least until I finally figured out that all the self important little snots who did NOT pay attention were going to get a free ride from MY work. They did not bother to study, or even learn proper English -because they knew I would. I would be there to sponge off of FOREVER. They knew that the harder I worked and excelled, the more the government would bleed from Me to “compensate” them for being lazy and worthless. I have been PAYING taxes since I was 14 years old; while listening to the pregnant “ho’s” talking in the back of the class about how much of MY wages the “gubberment” was going to “give” them when they had their worthless brat.
    Who is John Galt indeed.

  18. Wilberforce says:

Yeah, “Nope.” is a verminous consultant. A lifetime leftist, ignore him.

  19. octa bright says:

    @nope.
What you seem to not understand is that raising the minimum wage will destroy the no skill entry level jobs. When I was growing up the movie houses has ushers. Those are gone. The multiplexes have 1 projectionist for multiple screens. When automation costs less than the new hire employers will go with machines.
Fast food help, people won’t be able to afford the food.
Employees MUST be productive enough to make money for the employer. If they aren’t they will not be hired.
These people have few if any skills, little if any motivation, and dreadful work habits. They are NOT worth $15.00 an hour. They may become worth it but now they are not.

  20. whotothewhat says:

Well when the government spigot shuts off and the welfare leeches start rioting. All those guns and bullets the government jack booted scumbags could not find from their predawn raids on law abiding gun owners homes, are pulled out hiding. Then we will see who is laughing then Lucy.

  21. Galt says:

Hey Nope….the only point is on the top of your head! If you don’t like what someone is willing to pay you (are you worth it??)…go work somewhere else. Not rocket science!!
