Theme Pub Shaken Down by Bloomberg Regime for Seeking Employee With Appropriate Background

Liberal totalitarianism has reached the last extreme of self-parody in New York City, where the mom and pop owners of the British-themed Longbow Pub have been fined $2,500 for running an employment ad seeking someone with an appropriate background.

[The owners’] legal problems started when they posted an advert on website Craigslist looking for new staff. The job description read: ‘Energetic and enthusiastic men and women with an appreciation of craft beer, good food, whisky and real football (a.k.a. soccer).

‘Being British definitely works in your favour – Bring an ex-pat or lived in the UK – also a plus.’

Imagine living in a country so authoritarian that you are not allowed to advertise for someone with a British background to work in your privately owned British bar because that “discriminates” against people who aren’t British — then having to keep a straight face when people refer to it as “the Land of the Free.”

The bigger the government, the more inevitable the corruption. Mayor Bloomberg’s goons demanded they cough up the $2,500 without a fuss or the fine would be tripled. Evidently it was a simple shakedown intended to raise revenue to throw into the insatiable maw of the welfare state. But, to make it look good, a gloss of political correctness was applied:

Part of the agreement also stipulates that the [owners] and their staff have to undergo anti-discrimination training within the next 120 days.

In the end, the Longbow Pub ended up hiring no one. Everybody loses — except the cancer that is killing America, i.e., Big Government. At least the bartender who would have been hired has an extra $2,500 to draw on for welfare benefits.

That’s another example that without property rights there are no rights.

Either we have inviolable property rights or the State rules by whim and decree.

  2. Kevin R. says:

The troll seems to believe that the thesis of the post is that they didn’t hire anyone. The thesis is the place got shaken down by the government for their advertisement. They got shaken down and fined.

  3. Katya Kakhov says:

The anti-discrimination training isn’t window dressing , they’ll have to pay for that too . It’s another shakedown , only with a juiced in private sector beneficiary .

Everyone knows that ILLEGAL “immigrants” cause a lot more crime than legal immigrants and of course, American Citizens. And that includes all the hood rats, by the way.

Thus it stands to reason that immigrant “rights” activists should be able to hold their own here crime is concerned.

Without further ado, I give you..

There’s a way around this, and it’s how The Tilted Kilt and Hooters can have girls of a certain figure without getting hit with discrimination suits.

They put out a ‘casting call’ as opposed to a job offer or regular position. Casting calls have different rules, like requiring a uniform or costume.

I’m going to throw a huge party when Bloomberg bytes the dust. I just hope it happens in a self-induced, ironic fashion, from the very impositions he’s placed on others. Karma’s a bitch.

This is how life is in a city totally controlled by a limp-wristed, 5′ tall Fascist, who is the worlds most arrogant elitist. Of course, having $27+ Billion in his pockets makes him all the more dangerous. It’s quite ironic that someone who is Jewish would turn NYC into his own personal concentration camp, and that his political and ideological base in Manhattan, which is almost entirely made up of far-Left Jews, would go along with him on every move.

I was born and raised in NYC, and i have never seen this city as oppressive, as expensive, or as overly regulated, as it’s become under the rule of this little tyrant. I truly believe if the city were not made up of mostly foreigners, who care only about making money and absolutely nothing of our freedoms and liberty, the people would have revolted by now and run queen Bloomberg from office.

So why does Bloomberg allow Chinese only waiters in Chinese restaurants?

Had the Want Ad been for : Flamboyant Homosexual who enjoys adult “water sports”, is a supporter of NAMBLA, enjoys wearing dresses and various adult toys – Mayor for Life would have given them a Diversity Award.

  9. Ummah Gummah says:

    .

Anyone have an ethnic/gender breakdown of Bloomberg Enterprises?

-And a call from the POTUS to tell them they were a hero of a company.

  11. Professor Hale says:

Blacks free to force lunch counters to serve them => Not allowed to hire people with British (white) accents.

It is all part of the same thing. Either you like freedom or your don’t. Either people are free to discriminate any way they like or they are not. The Civil Rights Act passed in 1964. The failure of every court and every legislature to overturn it since then very clearly says just how “free” we are.

And BTW, have fun flushing your federally mandated 1.6 GPF toilets.

  12. Flu-Bird says:

Frankly BLOOMBERG neds to get the toe of the boot in the seat of his pants and SHAME ON TIME MAGAZINE for featuring this blabbering jerk

  13. Bob Roberts says:

And the punch line was their ad promoted diversity – how many pubs do you know that have an authentic person behind the bar? I don’t know of any around here.

  14. Rotohammer says:

The Mafia comes to mind for a couple reasons. 1) Bloomberg has simply replaced the Mafia with his own racket. 2) Paying for Mafia protection might be a welcome alternative to lawyering up to fight Bloomberg. It would cost a lot, but the Mafia “remedy” might be more satisfying than just winning a lawsuit.

“Hey, Mr. Employment Regulator, what can you do for my friends at Longbow Pub, you know, to just let them hire who they want?”

“Well, if you want to play, you’ll have to pay…”

“I’m real sorry to hear that, cuz that’s not how I roll, ya know? Now you gots a real nice family there – it would be a real shame if something wuz to happen to ’em. Howz about Longbow Pub hires who ever the hell they wants and I make sure you get to see your kids graduate from high school? Capice?”

  15. Ummah Gummah says:

    .

    @ Bob Roberts

I’ve been to countless “Rose & Crown” bars in Southern Florida and all of them had British-sounding staff.

I didn’t investigate for authenticity though since the beer was fine.

  16. Gospace says:

Many years ago we went to a Chinese restaurant in Va Beach with an Occidental hostess. Curious, I asked how she got the job. She went to eat there, and there was a sign by the entrance saying “hostess wanted”. She asked if she could speak to the owner about applying for the job. The 2 old biddies sitting nearby, the owners wife and sister, started talking, in Chinese, about how this silly round eyed girl thought she could work in a Chinese restaurant. Her father was a missionary- in China. Where she spent many of her formative years. When the owner came out, and asked in halting English if she could do the job, she replied in Chinese, “This silly round eyed girl has been a waitress at many places, and I need a job. I’m sure I could handle the hostess job here.” Two very red faces at the nearby table, which the owner noticed as the talking suddenly stopped, followed by a job offer on the spot.

She made several small but lucrative investments over time by listening to Chinese businessmen speaking carelessly in front of her.

But that’s how to get a job in a place where people like you aren’t normally seen- show you are qualified.

  17. WingMann says:

It’s a cash business. The owners should simply skim off enough cash to pay the “shakedown fee”, and then continue to skim off cash for the life of the business, as a form of compensation for interacting with assclowns like Bloomingidiot and his sycophants in the “People’s Republic of New York”.

  18. Son of Taz says:

WingMann, the owner should move out of that sh*thole called New York, and get as many business owners as he can to join him.

If enough businesses would do this, NY would become a wasteland, kind of like Detroitistan.

  19. Elizabeth says:

It’s time for some poetic justice for New York’s mayor-for-life. I normally don’t wish ill on people, but the next article I see with Bloomberg’s name in it better be about how he had an unfortunate hot dog choking incident and that effectively immediately he’s retiring to another country, never to be heard from again. Dude needs to go away.

  20. BowlOfStupid says:

“Energetic and enthusiastic”?? The employer also discriminates against the slothful and apathetic. Double the fine, I say.
