Trump Media: No More Reliable Than the Liberal MSM

The New Americana asks an apt question, and answers it in one word. “Can Drudge, Breitbart be trusted to hold liberal Trump accountable?” The answer: no.

This was made obvious over the weekend, as major stories that made Trump look bad — refusing to release his taxes, refusing to condemn Obama’s depraved and dictatorial transgender bathroom decree, lying about pretending to be someone named John Miller — were studiously ignored so that readers could be fed corny pabulum like this:

Breitbart-Trump-Coverage

The New Americana notes that Drudge and Breitbart are Trump’s “personal PR firms” rather than legitimate news outlets.

Some will point out that the push to stop Hillary Clinton supersedes journalistic integrity and that’s absolutely fine. They should be saying that. In fact, they should have been saying it for months rather than pretending to be journalistic. They’ve been Pro-Trump, anti-everyone else (particularly Ted Cruz) for months. If their goal was to stop Clinton, why have they promoted the only candidate who has a good chance of losing to her? No, they’re not righteous right-wing warriors fighting the evil Clinton dynasty. They’ve been all about Trump for a long time, including the months when a real candidate who could beat her still had a chance of winning the nomination.

Sites like the New Americana and Moonbattery aren’t impartial either. However,

We are #NeverTrump and #NeverHillary. Readers have no doubt about that. We’re not pretending to be otherwise. … It’s all about transparency, something that the conservative movement should cherish.

As long as Drudge and Breitbart represent the media’s impression of conservatism, it can never succeed. They’ve latched onto a train that’s bound to crash. At the very least, it will take the Republican party down with it. At worst, it’s the country that will suffer at Trump’s hands. Drudge and Breitbart are willing accomplices.

They aren’t alone. Free Republic proprietor Jim Robinson has formally forbidden opposition to Trump:

Our most immediate task we must undertake at this time is keep corrupt, godless, treasonous, America-hating communists like Hillary Clinton out of power.

Our very survival as a free nation depends upon it.

That means FR is going all in to defeat Hillary/Bernie, et al, by supporting our America-first nominee Donald Trump to the hilt.

Very sorry if your favorite candidate did not win the nomination and sorry if you cannot understand or agree with our mission, but those who can’t live with our immediate goal need to either keep it to themselves or sit it out (from FR) for the duration. Anti-Trump activities and NeverTrump trolling and recruiting efforts are not appreciated and are unwelcome on FR.

This goes well beyond banning persistently irritating trolls in the comment section. Free Republic — which relies on readers to provide content — makes it explicit that only pro-Trump opinion is welcome, on the grounds that Shrillary is a “communist.” Bernie Sanders supporters can be heard in the background muttering, “If only.”

A little irony regarding the Free Republic declaration:

Incidentally, this comes a day after Robinson launched a fund-raising drive in which he declared that “We are beholden to no political party,” and that Freepers, as they call themselves, are “fiercely independent and enjoy our freedom to speak plainly.” Unless you’re skeptical about the Coiffed Avenger.

If Trump is able to take power, and predictably governs from the authoritarian left just like his friend Shrillary would, these “news” sources would be as unlikely to keep you apprised of the situation as MSNBC was to admit to Obama’s flaws in the early days of Hope & Change.

If he doesn’t take power, principled conservatives who refused to let their movement be poisoned by association with Trump will be targeted for blame. Trump’s alt-right core of support will more specifically blame it on Jews. Don’t take my word for it. Just hours ago, this was blasted across Breitbart’s main page:

breitbart-renegade-jew

Ben Shapiro addresses the story in context here.

Trumpism is an ugly phenomenon, and neither success nor failure will make it any prettier. Don’t let propagandists suck you into it.

On a tip from Torcer.

Is this how its going to be for the next 8 years David? Every page is nothing but Trump bashing while the liberal nuts are the ones destroying the country?

Your site used to be useful. Now its just one story after another on Trump.

Makes you look like a big baby.

  2. NotKennedy says:

There was a very warm place in my heart for Andrew, what he had done and where his format was headed. Since Andrew died, the organization became far too over-lawyered but the principal reason I had stopped reading that site was because of a certain disposition was becoming evident about the upper control folks.

It does look like Drudge is “all in” for Trump, I see it more as a matter of choosing levels in hell. If Trump brings nothing more to the story than a rebuke of the RNC/GOPe, he could be better than Carter as a one-term adjustment in the organizational structure.

Who knows what might happen in Cleveland, other than the obvious freak show in the streets and media Kabuki.

If Ted Cruz did not see how badly Glenn Beck affected the presentation… and then Carly?

Ah well, I still like Scott Walker better all of the rest. Too bad Rubio took the mark of the beast as quickly as he put his finger in Schumer’s belt loop. That was hideously pitiful–just like the devil himself has been orchestrating every move, so far.

  3. Rascal says:

Drudge pretty much links articles. That is it. Breitbart has op eds both pro and con Trump. This blog is nothing but whinging.

  4. NotKennedy says:

Were it not for the Lewinsky story I doubt that Matt would have ever been known. Instead, he proved McLuhan’s premise as fact. That Matt has never inserted his own “columns” or editorials is a testament to his genius. Drudge is what 20th journalism missed, entirely. He should have a patent, well a copyright, on his site layout, if he changed any of it, it would be a disaster. It does not get easier to keep up to date than clicking on Drudge!

  5. NotKennedy says:

Where did the “next 8 years” part come from? Trump and the bitch are both up-in-the-years. A more anxious concern, to me, would be O’Biden/Warren and her succeeding him. Not only would she be a horrid tragedy to the country, vacating that senate seat would be a straight shot in for a 4th generation idiot bastard Kennedy. Joe IV (already in Congress) is in position, set up, and ready to pick up where Satan left off.

  6. Rascal says:

I can agree with what you said.

  7. Vote Third Party says:

The very same people who supported Mussolini now support Trump. The psychology is the same.

  8. NotKennedy says:

    Compare Picasso and Drudge:
    http://www.sarahannsmith.com/weblog/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/picassofemme.jpg
Drudge’s simplicity is like that. Three columns, a bold header, not too much detail. Depending on the perspective, there are four black lines on white paper. The thought is brief and instantly understood.

Just for the record “Free” Trump Republic REALLY started that sometime towards the end of February.

The question is how is that ANY different than the actions of the national socialist left?

At one point I was banned from Trump zippers because I had the temerity to point out where Trumpers on the site were talking about Cruz dropping out back at the end of January.

Weak. I’m done arguing with Trump supporters, personally. They know what he is. They are all in for him anyway. I won’t censor myself or knowingly promote a falsehood. But I finished trying to convince.

  15. Hillary thanks you in advance for staying home in November.

  16. Actually dumbass, it was the Dems under Wilson got a taste of fascism from Mussolini and it was the Nazis and Italians who trained on propaganda from Wilson’s Admin. But hey, keep whining and mewling and when Hillary gets crowned in Nov, you can finally be happy. Fucktard.

  17. 762x51 says:

SO what you are saying is, tRump can’t win without us, yet you insist on continuing to be rude, demanding, bullying and over all assholes.

Sweet sales pitch. You all made this happen, not us. As you so smugly like to point out, your boy won. Now you have to win the general election, good luck with that.

You want to see the morons who guaranteed a win for Hillary, look in the mirror. We are not responsible for your mistake.

  18. 762x51 says:

Which is what VTP said, dumbass. tRump, the Progressive is being supported by Progressives, that’s who Democrats are, even under Wilson. The Nazis learned propaganda from those same American Progressives according to Goebbels diary. It’s called history and you douche bags are about to learn it . . . again.

If Hillary wins, its all you, not us, imbecile.

  19. 762x51 says:

Absolutely, there is no need to try and convince the Trumpanzees any longer or remain civil to them. I take no prisoners and give no quarter, this combat is to the death.

  28. Torcer says:

Yes, My point in posting just part of that list is that those of us who became informed of the man became so because of that information.

Trumpers chose to ignore that information and choose poorly.

  29. Ed. G. Mann says:

This is over; everyone of you who is railing against Trump, who has been voting for what ever candidate that the GOP told you that was your choice and like it are to blame for Trump.

All these years you should have realized that the GOP has been sandbagging you and then ignoring you in Congress. If you had voted with the Constitution Party,
the Freedom Party, and the Libertarians or formed the Conservative Party, you
wouldn’t be in this position today.

You might have to form coalitions with others but you wouldn’t have been working
with backstabbers. Now the voters in America have jumped ahead of you by
picking a non-establishment candidate, non-politician and discarded all others
    including your favorite.

So now you rail at the person that America picked. It avails you nothing. And
don’t tell me that conservatives stayed in the GOP so they would have a voice.

Where is that voice? What effect have you had on getting bills into LAW? Not brought up on the floor but signed into law. How about the repeal of ObamaCare?
Abortion? School prayer? Religious symbols on public property? Free speech such
as slogans of T-shirts? Perhaps in some states only to have courts rule against
    you and Congress do nothing.

Well, you have your choice; take your football and go home or get into he game and make sure Hillary doesn’t come after your asses in January.

You can shout at this all you want, makes no difference to me. You have to live with your choices.

  34. Ed. G. Mann says:

No, Trump supporters merely chose the winner. Not “a” winner, THE WINNER.

  35. Ed. G. Mann says:

It is a shame that the voters didn’t realize Cruz was flawless. What an oversight. I’ll let others, likee Torcer, throw the stones.

  36. Mr. Freemarket says:

    So Bernie’s going to win?

  37. JeffersonSpinningInGrave says:

“This is over; everyone of you who is railing against Trump, who has
been voting for what ever candidate that the GOP told you that was your
choice… All these years you should have realized that the GOP has been sandbagging you and then ignoring you in Congress.”

I became fully resigned to that in 2014 when the voters gave the GOP full control of the Congress and then the GOP immediately rolled over and bit the pillow for Obama. They lied on the campaign trail about what they would do if elected. Just like Trump. Though Trump is more blatant and open about deceiving the electorate than Boehner, Paul Ryan or Turtle Mitch so far. I want to believe in Trump, but he keeps doing things that suggest he’s playing us for suckers.

And yes, if I support him I have to live with that. And if I do support him, I have to live with that choice too.

  38. JeffersonSpinningInGrave says:

And this is how they trap us into a false choice each election cycle; just shut up and vote for one of these a-holes and be done with it. Many people hailed Trump as the end to this pattern, but he’s not acting like it so far.

  39. Mr. Freemarket says:

The difference between Cruz and Trump was that it was basically possible to predict where Cruz would come down on any particular issue. Many Trump supporters are honest enough to admit that he is a giant crap shoot.

  40. Ed. G. Mann says:

Nope. Bernie’s voters, at least those registered, will not vote for Hillary. Some (many) may cross over and vote for Trump. That shouldn’t bother anyone since it works against Hillary.

  41. Ed. G. Mann says:

Too early to tell. Every candidate runs hard to the left or right (depending on party) during the campaigns to grab the base, then moves to the center-(left or right) to pick up the independents. Trump has many of them now so he may not move far to the center.

It is six months to go before the general, lots of time to find out.

  42. Ed. G. Mann says:

I don’t know if you are old enough to remember Ricky Nelson’s song “Garden Party”. I know this is really pushing the time scale back but basically he was saying you can’t please everybody, you have to please yourself. No politician can please every voter. Trump is going to have to be himself. One can only hope he does. That would be more honest that the rest of them.

Most are of the sort as H.L. Mencken described them.
“If a politician found he had cannibals among his constituents, he would promise them missionaries for dinner.”

  43. Torcer says:

Ah yes, another strawman argument…. on of the favorite go to tactic of the national socialist left..

    Definition of straw man
1.1a sham argument set up to be defeated.
Thus the user of the straw man fallacy exposes their own tendency to incorrectly categorize their opponent.
    http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/us/definition/american_english/straw-man?

  45. JeffersonSpinningInGrave says:

There is something to that, and I hope some of his self-contradictory statements are pandering to get some voters from the left (and that he isn’t pandering to the right falsely too). I assume he will be himself. But who is he, really? I’m watching what he actually does and with whom he associates, and trying to ignore most of his statements.

  46. NotKennedy says:

Drudge’s extensive compilation of links was why I originally bookmarked his site. That may have been around 1998 and the internet was a considerably different environment.

Netscape was a pretty good browser, back then, and Eric Schmidt was making big bucks with AOL. W95 almost worked for hours at a time, depending on how many applications were open and the appropriate use of incantations, mantras and 56KB modem. Cable access was starting to become available and Al Gore found out about internet porn, right after discovering the internet. Hell, he had access to better porn right there at the White House!

You don’t ‘have a problem with free-press or free speech’ and yet that is exactly what you are doing.

Trump supporters Forced the man on the rest of the party and now use the tactics of the left to try and guilt people into supporting him – it doesn’t work that way.

At the conclusion of all of this, we who opposed Donald can hold our head high knowing that we made an INFORMED choice, you Trump supporters cannot. We will not be responsible for the resulting disaster, Those of you who made the uniformed decision to support him will be the ones responsible.

  49. Ed. G. Mann says:

Nothing you can say changes the fact that YOU LOST. Forget straw man arguments, forget the National socialist leftist of a Bernie run. forget anything you can say.

It’s over go toss your stones where you like. Try tossing them at the Flawless one, the Loser from Texas with the never to be VP.

You don’t get to write the history, losers never do.

  50. Ed. G. Mann says:

People don’t seem to mind that given what the alternative is with Hillary. They know what her downsides are, another four or more years of Obama.

Why Trump may just force the Congress to accept their responsibilities, their privileged position of being the lawmakers in the co-equal branches of government. That will be unique given their past performance over the past eight years. You wouldn’t like that?

People took a gamble on Obama, why I’ll never know given his past positions. He was a known political wreck coming off another debacle called #43.

Mencken summed it up beautifully. “A national political
campaign is better than the best circus ever heard of, with a mass baptism and a couple of hangings thrown in.”

    Go ahead and deny it!

  51. Ed. G. Mann says:

You are just being a pest and really have nothing to say.

  52. Mr. Freemarket says:

Actually it bothers me a great deal since Trump’s policies are enough similar to those of Sanders that his supporters would even consider crossing over.

  53. Mr. Freemarket says:

Trump has yet to convince the far right to vote for him (the far right also being called “the conservative base.”) Some of them are the same folks that sat out the election of 2012, costing Romney the presidency.

  54. Ed. G. Mann says:

I never believe anything said during a primary campaign. They will cater to the voters for they need those votes. Once they get the nomination, then they have to get the voters across the country to believe them, to believe in their positions and stay with them as the general election approaches.

Items that appeal to the broadest cross section of voters will be what are projected and some of those will have to be brought up in the first 100 days.

  55. Mr. Freemarket says:

“Why Trump may just force the Congress to accept their responsibilities…..”

I would suggest that this is simply extrapolation on your part since I don’t think Trump has said anything remotely like your statement.

In fact, that is the major problem we had with Obama; people projecting their thoughts and ideas on him, as if his ambiguity would work to their benefit.

    “People don’t seem to mind….. ”

From my perspective, people mind very much, but those who mind were outnumbered by those who didn’t mind. It is like saying “Hillary will chop off your leg, so you don’t mind if we give you a bit of cancer, do you?”

  56. Torcer says:

    And you are projecting…

  57. Torcer says:

    No, Freedom LOST…

What do you have to say about that?

  58. 762x51 says:

Well, well well, if isn’t the little pussy fucktard who pretends to be a Libertarian but is really a closet fascist that supports the Progressive tRump. Still afraid to face me I see, so instead your just follow me around and troll me because you are to impotent to do anything about it in the real world.

A rare photo of Ed not wearing a dress..

  59. 762x51 says:

You can’t reason with this lying fucktard. He is incapable of rational thought, but is smug about it.

  60. 762x51 says:

Doesn’t bother the fascists who support tRump though, weird, huh?

They tell in one breath that he is a conservative, then tell you in the next breath that Bernie supporters will vote for tRump. Which is it? Both of those things cannot be true.

The reality, of course, is that tRump is a Progressive, just like Bernie and Hillary. That’s why he used to fund Hillary, he agrees with her and her causes. Not only have these idiots handed the White House, regardless of which Progressive R or D wins in Nov., they have also handed the Congress back to the Progressives in the D party in the process due to the down ticket lack of votes they will recieve. You can’t fix that kind of stupid, you can only double tap it.

  61. 762x51 says:

Could be, though a lot of Republicans, mostly the conservatives, stayed home during those election cycles. It has been a gradual trend over the last 15 – 20 years, maybe longer that fewer and fewer of us vote because of the shitty candidates, especially GOPee candidates. tRump represents a new low.

You are 100% correct, tRump is a Progressive, always has been. Congratulations on regaining your sanity and your honor and rejecting the Progressive Republican candidate. Don’t let the Trumpanzees tell you it will be your fault if Hillary wins. It will be their fault for running a dishonest asshole for President, not ours, but that’s what Progressives do, blame others for their mistakes.

  62. 762x51 says:

See, you cannot reason with them, they lack the intelligence to understand why there is no difference between tRump and Hillary or Bernie. They prefer a different path over the cliff than the one Hillary of Bernie would use. Their entire argument seems to be that tRump will make a better dictator than Hillary or Bernie.

  63. Ed. G. Mann says:

One may believe that if one chooses but that flies in the face of the voting in the primaries. Cruz expected to pick up South Carolina evangelicals and go on to do the same across the South. Votes show differently. Most of evangelicals in SC voted for Trump except for two counties and the others southern states were replications of SC.

Something that struck me last night is how much like this site is to a college campus. Anything said in their ‘safe’ space drives them into paroxysms of anger and inanity.

  64. Ed. G. Mann says:

On that congress statement, I was speaking about after being elected.

If you are correct in your balance of the comment, then it truly makes no difference who is elected. The body doesn’t care what DC is doing.

  65. Ed. G. Mann says:

What bothers you is that your ‘safe’ space has been breached. People are chalking “Trump” on the walls and the Administration won’t punish them.

  66. Torcer says:

    My response is here.

  67. Ed. G. Mann says:

Damn, I’m having a hard time seeing the screen. I’m laughing so hard my eyes are tearing up. where do you get these stupid assed ideas?

  68. Torcer says:

At this point in time Trumpers like EGM should be trying to convince everyone why they should vote for the candidate they forced on the rest of US.
That’s how elections are won – by the bringing in of as many people as possible to support a particular side.

People have to be convinced to vote FOR someone instead of AGAINST someone else.

Trump supporters should be doing their level best to unify the party and yet they aren’t doing this vital task.

And yet they are not performing this function…. Why?

  69. Torcer says:

Yes, they figure that at least Donald can run the Trump train on time.

They don’t seem to care about his dictatorial predilections, only that he will be their dictator..

  70. Mr. Freemarket says:

    But…but…he loves America.

Didn’t a guy with a funny mustache love Germany, too?

  71. Mr. Freemarket says:

People chose to vote based upon anger rather than reason, IMHO. If Christian religion is an important issue, I have no idea why someone would vote for a guy who is, at best, Christian in name only.

  72. Mr. Freemarket says:

“I was speaking about after being elected.”

In other words, you were voicing what you would like to hear him say, or could imagine him saying.

  73. Mr. Freemarket says:

They are 1) still intoxicated over “we won…naaa…naaa…naa” and 2) Trump is like this totally different candidate that people will flock to, so we don’t need any actual conservatives.

And if you don’t vote for Trump you are not a True American and likely a traitor.

  75. Ed. G. Mann says:

Are you sure you aren’t Jewish? My other half is Jewish. Between her and her mother, their day is ruined if they cannot find at least on major and two minor things to worry about each day. It could be a krenkeit (disease-illness-pain) or worse something that causes them to miss a metsieh. (a bargain) Zol Got mir helfen!

Some similarity twixt ‘The Donald and Bernie isn’t the same thing as equality. You never heard Trump espouse Bernie’s “It’s all FREE.” policies.
It is bad logic to make those extensions. That’s like poison ivy has green leaves; those trees have green leaves therefore those trees are poison ivy. Doesn’t work. You cannot use two general statements to draw a particular conclusion.

  76. Ed. G. Mann says:

Dull hackneyed tripe doesn’t cut anything. In the battle of wits, you better find some weapons.

  77. Ed. G. Mann says:

During a news conference after the meeting with Ryan, he did state that he would be guided by the Constitution, existing law and the voters.

  78. Ed. G. Mann says:

You are truly delusional. That opening sentence proves that. If the Conservatives had ANY power, enough votes, then Cruz would be the nominee. The current arrangement belies the power of the Conservatives.

  79. Ed. G. Mann says:

All this time I believed Presbyterians were more than a cocktail. Part of the Protestant Church at least that is what the Protestants believe.

Are you telling me that Trump’s religious involvement is as thin as that boozing Baptist Preacher? Or the one that will tell you the only way to Heaven is by handling snakes? Suppose one belongs to the Third Baptist Church of Jesus but the First Baptist Church doesn’t recognize them, now what? Are they unsaved or cast out sinners with the mark of Satan on them?

Perhaps you are getting a bit of why I don’t want any religion in politics. This is not to say I want amoral fools like we have now running the place.

When the standard becomes ‘he’s not “Christian” enough, then the Country is eliminating many people who could govern quite well, ethically by following the Constitution.

I don’t need to know your moral configuration is. One would expect you to live by your code. There are penalties for failure. It is when the whole governing body loses their ethical path that we wind up where we are.
We got here however by people voting for those sitting and giving the voters just what they want. They were reelected for that reason.

  80. Torcer says:

And as usual the Trump supporter cannot follow basic directions…

  82. Mr. Freemarket says:

Bernie believes we should have a health care system that covers everyone, including those who can’t pay. Trump believes we should have a health care system that covers everyone including those who can’t pay.
Bernie believes the Chinese are screwing us and we should apply high tariffs. Trump believes the Chinese are screwing us and we should apply high tariffs.

But they aren’t completely alike. Bernie believes that we shouldn’t have rich people be able to buy politicians. Trump disagrees.

  83. Mr. Freemarket says:

Well, that clinches it for me. Trump can date my younger sister after all. He’s completely trustworthy.

  84. Mr. Freemarket says:

If Trump were on trial to determine if he is a Christian, IMHO, the case would be dismissed for lack of evidence.

    Here’s the issue:
    1. Trump has stated that he has never asked God for forgiveness. Asking for forgiveness is the first step to correcting a wrong (for Christians, the first step for obtaining forgiveness). That implies that a) he’s never done anything wrong, b) hasn’t engaged in enough self-reflection to realize that he has done things that offend a just God, c) is the poster-child for “hubris.”
    2. Trump doesn’t reflect a “moral” character. a) He has traded in two wives for younger models (while bedding an unknown number of women). b) He sees nothing wrong with using political contributions to influence politicians. He has literally been a funder of the corruption we decry in government. c) He has no objection to using bankruptcy laws to maintain/increase his wealth. No apologies, no regrets. d) Through most of his life, he’s been a supporter of abortion. One can’t be a moral person and approve of killing unborn children.

“Are you telling me that Trump’s religious involvement is as thin as that boozing Baptist Preacher?”

Nope; I’m telling you it is way thinner. The boozing Baptist Preacher at least has an idea where the Church is. And he may, in fact, regret his intoxication in his more sober moments.

  85. Ed. G. Mann says:

If you are going to match tit for tat there isn’t any way to actually understand what is being said. This is said; that is said. Screw the nuance. If you want to go nuts, be my guest, I’m not going down that path with you.

  86. Ed. G. Mann says:

Better him than me. I’ve always been a letch.

  87. Ed. G. Mann says:

That’s thin. suppose someone doesn’t believe they ever transgressed. They never killed, stole or was unfaithful in marriage. Someone’s lie is another’s business deal.

Most of the world will tell you buzz off. I’ll take care of my pwn soul in my religion. You believe what you want in yours.

Now where are we? Condemning someone for not having the same beliefs as you? Why not just crucify them, or at least hold an auto dà fé. Make them confess.

  88. 762x51 says:

Actually, that guy was a narcissist who loved himself and power and only used “love of country”, aka Nationalism, as an excuse by which to gain absolute power over those he sough to rule. In combination with a populist message of hate, he was able to get them to adoringly hand him compete control over every facet of their daily lives.

Now consider what you are watching unfold on your TV every day in this country. What could go wrong . . .?

  89. 762x51 says:

Notice how the Progressive hides his stupidity behind arrogance. He always does that because he is such an ignorant douche he cannot even carry on a conversation.

They are the brownshirt wannabes, their only problem is they have no idea what is waiting out here for them or any would be dictator and his followers.

  91. 762x51 says:

Only because you aren’t smart enough and your fucktard cult leader would loose in that exchange.

Blow it out your arrogant, ignorant, dishonest ass, maggot.

  92. Torcer says:

Yes, and he has all the hallmarks of dishonesty in disingenuously dodging questions lest he let slip information that can be used against him.

  93. Torcer says:

Those who refuse to stay moored to basic principles will soon drift into the rocks and shoals.

  94. Mr. Freemarket says:

Those with more than a brief acquaintance with the Bible know that there is no one that hasn’t sinned; there is no one that is not in need of repentance.

Most people with an ounce of introspection realize that they have many things to ask forgiveness for from the Almighty.

  95. Mr. Freemarket says:

I’m more than willing to accept that the mad paper-hanger honestly loved Germany. He just happened to love himself a lot more.

  96. 762x51 says:

Yes, fundamental principles are very important.

  97. Ed. G. Mann says:

I take it that you never have taken a Comparative Religion course. That would be taught by not one but by usually three or four Professors/Scholars of different religions. Since the course espouses no one religion over another, but examines how each views God/Godhead/Supreme Being/the All Powerful as the center of one’s religion and were such a “Being” might exist.

The concept of sin isn’t a common thread with the need for “forgiveness”. Some religions, such as Judaism don’t have a concept of “Hell”.

A discussion of the Bible, particularly the New Testament, not to dismiss the Old, would probably have you writhing on the floor in pain. I’m not sure your mind would open to other prospects for how the Bible is viewed. Just remember that it was written between 70 and 130 years after Christ walked the Earth and by persons who were not alive at that time. It does contains some letters from persons who were alive at the time, epistles if you like.

  98. Torcer says:

It’s that trigger squeeze that causes the issue. I keep throwing shots off to the left..

  99. 762x51 says:

Watch your finger position on the trigger, keep the pad of the finger centered. If your trigger finger is wrapped too far around the trigger, shaded toward the first knuckle, your shots will go left. Assuming we are talking handguns and you are right handed. Also position your support hand farther forward if possible to prevent the muzzle from moving left as the shot breaks. Finally, get a gunsmith to “stone” the sear/disconnector for a smoother, lighter, shorter, pull.

  100. Mr. Freemarket says:

It is true; my answer and worldview comes from a Christian perspective. Since Trump stated that he is a Christian, I hold him and others who make similar claims to the generally accepted teachings of the Christian religion.

Trump makes no claim to be a Jew, therefore, the Jewish concept of sin (or lack thereof) doesn’t have a bearing upon this discussion.

Paul the Apostle in Romans 3:23 states “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God…” That statement seems pretty clear that all have need of repentance.

John the Apostle in his letter states “8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

I think I have made my case.

  101. Ed. G. Mann says:

I’m not trying to denigrate you perspective on the world through your religious upbringing. Rather I’m looking at it as others see you, me and others in a community called America where the opposition is Hillary’s idea of government and control.

When I brought up the Comparative Religion course as a view of how others see what you see, their principles need to be accommodated as well as yours. If that cannot be melded into a cohesive body to win, then some one is going to be left out. That will be those that cannot bend in someway to keep their personal beliefs and join the body politic.

I only mentioned the Jews as the concept of forgiveness is found in different ways. Doing a mitzvah, a good deed which is done with out others knowing, is an equivalence.

Living by one’s religious precepts is fine; demanding or asking that others do the same isn’t. Trying to fit one morality across cultures doesn’t work, which is not to say that some things in different cultures aren’t inherently evil. Even different sects within a religious group are different. In one strict Baptist Sect having sex standing up probably is an egregious sin for it looks like dancing and another as you pointed out abhors Demon Rum. Didn’t stop one Pastor though.

  102. Mr. Freemarket says:

I started my comment from a strictly Christian standpoint stating that if Trump were on trial as a Christian, the case would be dismissed for lack of evidence. Were a Jew sitting in the jury of that trial, despite having a different religious view, he’d have to agree with me. An atheist would also likely agree with my statement.

I don’t want a Muslim in that jury box; he’d see both me and Trump as infidels and want to cut off our heads.

“Living by one’s religious precepts is fine; demanding or asking that others do the same isn’t.”
I am not judging others for not accepting or living by my religious precepts. I’m only asking people to be judged based upon the religious traditions that they supposedly live by. I call it “living by one’s principles.” If you say you believe one way and your actions conflict with your professed beliefs, then you just might be unprincipled (or you are simply lying).

Trump claims to be a Christian. I therefore apply the moral norms expected of all Christians. Were he a professed Muslim, then I wouldn’t be concerned if he had a personal relationship with some goats.

  103. Ed. G. Mann says:

And those moral norms are? If you are Catholic, one cannot get divorced and remarry while the former spouse is still alive. You have to get the marriage annulled, and how does one do that with a ‘consummated’ marriage?

The term “Cafeteria Catholic” comes abut for naming those that follow those [arts of the church liturgy they like and ignore those with which they have some conflict. Are they Catholic: Roman, National or Eastern Orthodox?
If a Baptist dances, swears or drinks, is he/she a Baptist: What sect?

The Episcopal Church has torn itself apart. The Missouri Synod tossed out several New England Churches for having gay Bishops, Lesbian Priests and disregarding the Liturgy. They consider themselves Episcopalians.

Maybe the question should be what is a Christian? How does one define that in the frame work of an Ecclesiastical Liturgy based on God’s word.

  104. Mr. Freemarket says:

Let’s not confuse practices with doctrine. Christ really didn’t provide a “divorce option.” So a good practicing Christian isn’t going to get divorced (and a good practicing Christian will give their spouse no reason to divorce him/her).

While discussing the Catholics….don’t forget the Coptic Christians, who also wish to lay claim on being the original Church of Christ.

Your example of the Episcopal Church is, again, a good example of the “christian” church that really is no longer Christian. Women “priests?” Seriously????

What is a Christian? Well, truth is that many wouldn’t consider me a Christian; I have doctrinal differences with “traditional” Christianity. When Christ was being baptized, the voice of the Father was heard from Heaven, and the Holy Spirit descended in the form of a dove. Low and behold…..the whole concept of the “Holy Trinity” seems to have a hole in it.

That said, a Christian is one who attempts to follow Christ. The Sermon on the Mount is a good place to start. It isn’t that hard.

  105. Ed. G. Mann says:

The divorce is as far as I know discrete to the Catholic Church, Roman and I not sure about the ‘other sects’.
No attempt to leave out any part of any group so identifying as part of mentioned churches.

In a comparative religion course, no attempt is made to get into the deeper points of any one belief. That is for a life work in a Seminary or a University where one would study for a Doctor of Divinity.

I think it all comes down to what is in your heart and how you live ethically. Ethics is the core of all Western Religions and also of the Far Eastern non Christian religions. They are highly ethical, based on ancestor worship as in Shintoism or Confucianism. Note I leave out Islam.

  106. Mr. Freemarket says:

We’ve gotten pretty far out into the weeds here. I find the Japanese to be highly ethical people that I can’t understand. For example, the Japanese take their obligations towards other people very seriously; debts must be remembered and repaid.

But then again, these are the same “highly ethical” people a few generations ago (with the same underlying belief system) who didn’t have a problem with chopping off the heads of the unworthy and committed untold atrocities in China and Korea. And so far as I know, they didn’t act contrary to their ethical or religious beliefs.

And, of course, Islam basically teaches that anything goes when dealing with the infidels.

  107. Ed. G. Mann says:

Ah, yes. There is the problem with morality across cultures. What we consider to atrocious behavior on the part of another culture is something that is acceptable (perhaps at that time) in another. I guess that’s where “Judge not lest you be judged” and “Casting the first stone…” has a place.

Philosophy was one of the most enjoyable courses I took in college. It requires you to stop thinking in narrow channels and view the world from other perspectives. That isn’t to impute rightness or wrongness but to try to understand the why. With all our biases, that in not an easy chore.

  108. Torcer says:

    Good suggestions.

I’ve tried to various ways of pulling the trigger – even practicing my trigger pull but it still has an effect. It’s one of those frustrating occurrences that if fixed couple help in my accuracy.

It also happens over the span of a couple of guns so it’s primarily my issue.

  109. 762x51 says:

Yeah, and these days ammo is ridiculously expensive. Have you thought about getting a Laserlyte Trainer? http://www.amazon.com/LaserLyte-TLB-1-Laser-Trainer-Target/dp/B004GFDTNA

About $220 to get set up so it’s not cheap either but you also don’t have to go to a range, burning gas and paying range fees, to use it. Start close and gradually back off to handgun combat distances ~20 – 25 feet. Remember, slow is smooth and smooth is fast. I use one with my Sig P227 to practice magazine changes and getting the weapon up and running again in a fight. Get a package of Dry Fire Snap Caps to go with it so you don’t damage the firing mechanism of your pistol.

Make sure your hand is high up against the top curve of the backstrap of the pistol, with the web between your thumb and fingers snugly against that curve. Also watch that you aren’t slapping the trigger as that will cause your shots to break left as well.

  110. Mr. Freemarket says:

Yeah….a philosophy that approves of chopping off heads certainly must be equivalent to those that don’t believe in chopping off heads.

I didn’t include philosophy in my class schedule. I was busy learning about natural laws and all that sort of judgmental stuff. I’m totally biased about things like gravity and math and such.

  111. Ed. G. Mann says:

Yup, the physical laws are rather immutable. If that statement isn’t true, then Newton is a liar.

  112. Torcer says:

Thanks for the tip – I may have to invest in one of those.
