Uncle Walter Revealed as Corrupt Left-Wing Hack

Surprise surprise. Walter Cronkite — the erstwhile “Most Trusted Man in America” who did more than anyone to win the Vietnam War for his fellow collectivists — has been revealed as a corrupt moonbat:

A thorough new biography of Walter Cronkite by Douglas Brinkley reveals that he was not the unbiased journalist his supporters have always claimed him to be. In fact, he was a liberal who used his position as America’s top anchor to promote the left and damage the right. …

Cronkite had a secret deal with Pan Am which flew his family around the world to vacation spots like the South Pacific for free. The President of the CBS News Division knew about the arrangement but did nothing about it.

Cronkite’s behavior wasn’t just personally unethical, it was also professionally unethical. It was Cronkite who persuaded Robert Kennedy — during a private meeting in his office — to run for President in 1968. Cronkite wanted someone to run to the left of LBJ in opposition to the Vietnam War. Cronkite then interviewed Kennedy about the possibility of running just three days before he announced his candidacy. No doubt Kennedy believed having the support of America’s most trusted anchor would be an asset to his campaign.

Fortunately the Establishment Left’s monopoly on the media has been challenged by the Internet, talk radio, and to a limited extent Fox News. Nowadays building a ideological hack like Cronkite into a heroic icon of unbiased journalism wouldn’t be possible amid the hoots of derision.

A leftist hack spews moonbattery.

Cronkite declared Vietnam lost on global television during the Tet ’68 battle. He was General Giap’s best ally in the US, and Gen. Giap is fairly direct about it in his own memoirs.

You’ve got it right, a hack, not a hero.

  2. TED says:

Talk about bar-coding, this Commie liar should have one on his forehead (to match Obama’s).

  3. Hillman says:

I couldn’t stand Cronkite in the 60’s and saw through his left-leaning bias. He was a commie for sure.

  4. Antisocialist says:

    Walter Clownkite.

Traitors like him has an extra warm place in hell.
    The Greater damnation.

    “Aridog says:May 24, 2012 at 2:13 pm”

And when asked about the MILLIONS killed to entrench communbism in SE Asia, Cronkite said that he didn’t regret his opposition to the war at all.

Funny, the left is always complaining about Fox News because of the limited air time they give to the right and views from the right.

They never mention all the air time given to the left and their views by Fox. I watched Fox now and again but got tired of the significant amount of time they would give to obviously lying leftist lunatics. Still, I suppose that in trying to remain “Fair and Balanced” they had to do it, but still they should have at least run a disclaimer along the bottom or something, or given a proper rebuttal when the left would spout their typical nonsense.

Archie Bunker was right all along
Cronkite really was a Pinko Commie.

  8. TrickleUpPolitics says:

When I was growing up my Dad watched War at Sea (I think that was the title), a series about the US Navy in WWII. It was narrated by Cronkite so I grew up indoctrinated that his voice was the voice of authority and knowledge. I was shocked and saddened to find out he was just another lying leftie of the loonie left.

  9. modd kenwood says:

in today’s world he’d be al Qaeda’s favorite anchor

  10. justme says:

Ahh.. Cronkite may have been a Commie, but compared to the anchors of today, he hid it remarkably well and seemed to be unbiased in his coverage – Compared to what we have today.

In other words, the precipitous decline of the American News makes me wistful for someone who was merely a Leftist Commie… Remember the likes of Soledad O’Brein are called “anchors” now….

  11. Gunny G says:

I knew Kronkite was a piece of shit when I first heard him when was 10 or 12 year old. Dad hated the cocksucker.

  12. Lentenlands says:

    To quote the fiend:

“It seems to many of us that if we are to avoid the eventual catastrophic world conflict we must strengthen the United Nations as a first step toward a world government patterned after our own government with a legislature, executive and judiciary, and police to enforce its international laws and keep the peace,” he said. “To do that, of course, we Americans will have to yield up some of our sovereignty. That would be a bitter pill. It would take a lot of courage, a lot of faith in the new order. Pat Robertson has written in a book a few years ago that we should have a world government, but only when the Messiah arrives. He wrote, literally, any attempt to achieve world order before that time must be the work of the devil. Well, join me. I’m glad to sit here at the right hand of Satan”

    Walter Cronkite

  13. Ghost of FA Hayek says:

Remember, those who deride the “new media” wish to take you back to the days where the monopoly of Kronkite announces “that’s the way it is”

  14. Beef says:

I hope they buried him deep.

  15. Dr. 9 says:

Aside from be an outright traitor, Cronkite was, for his entire career, a mouthpiece and a flunky for the infamous Kennedy family. That “most trusted” title was given to him by his bosses at CBS, many of whom were also controlled by the Kennedys, to help keep ratings high.

  16. Jimbo says:

See that face? It’s the face of a carp. A bottom feeder. Feeding on little gullible liberals minds.

  17. grayjohn says:

“corrupt moonbat”, is there any other kind?

  18. whotothewhat says:

And that the way it is.

  19. A. Levy says:

Walter Cronkite was, and other professional liars in his industry are, living proof of just how weak and gullible the American people truly are.

  20. dan says:

I remember how EVERYONE trusted uncle Walter and

    and now I know why.

  22. Alan says:

When bin Laden released a video during the 2004 election, Cronkite suggested Rove put him up to it. Just nutty.
