Victimhood Culture and the Decline of Free Speech

Surprisingly, a pair of sociology professors have written a book that offers intelligent analysis rather than the sheer moonbattery we have come to expect:

The Rise of Victimhood Culture, to be published next week by Palgrave MacMillan, eschews traditional thinking about campus culture and asserts that conflict arises when “a more traditional culture of dignity” comes into tension with the nascent “culture of victimhood.”

Victimhood correlates with moonbattery, dignity with countermoonbattery.

The more traditional culture of dignity is “conducive to laws and customs that support free speech and debate,” says co-author Jason Manning, a sociology professor at West Virginia University.

In a culture of dignity, people respond to insults by holding their head high. In contrast,

“Victimhood culture considers offensive words a form of violence and oppression, something that must be remedied by public or administrative action,” Manning said, adding that this new cultural regime is often “antithetical to free speech and conducive to censorship.”

When educrats don’t cooperate by banning speech they don’t like, wallowers in victimhood feel justified in shutting down the speech by violent means. After all, according to current progressive dogma, politically incorrect speech is literally a form of violence.

And the terrible thing is that universities are all too willing to oblige the “professional victims” demands with censorship and moonbattery. Which of course is why these degenerates continue to make demands, and why the “victim mentality” continues to exist.

In short universities are manufacturing professional victims that ooze entitlement.

Of course this was all designed by progressives that want to use these degenerates as a tool to destroy the US and our society… These degenerates don’t have the mental maturity to hold jobs, so not only will they be big babies and professional victims and protesters their whole lives, but they will be overloading the welfare system in the process – Cloward-Piven style.

Of course no one will have the heart to throw these kids in the trash where they belong, the designers of this strategy knows this, which is why they employ these tactics…
