Why Roseanne Barr Is a Thought Criminal but Not Bill Maher

A video of Bill Maher that I can’t embed but that you can watch here reminds us that the ruined thought criminal Roseanne Barr is not the first entertainer to find a similarity between a political figure and apes. Via

Watch, as funny guy Bill Maher compares Donald J. Trump to an Orangutan or in other words, an ape (Orangutans are the most arboreal of the great apes). With a split screen showing Donald Trump on one side and an orangutan on the other, Maher tells his audience, “Donald Trump must immediately submit to DNA tests to determine whether he is, in fact, the love child of a human woman and an orangutan from the Brooklyn Zoo. Look, Donald, I’m not saying your mother was f*cking an orangutan back in the 1940’s. I don’t know if that’s true. I hope it’s not true. But given your face, your physique, your intelligence level, and of course, your hair, the American people deserve some real proof that your mother did not spend most of her nights in 1945, covering her body in banana oil, sneaking into the monkey cage and compulsively humping an orange ape.”

By comparison with Maher’s over-the-top tastelessness, Barr’s terse tweet — which she quickly deleted and apologized for — was almost civil. Yet Bill Maher was not named public enemy #1, and his show was not canceled.

George W. Bush was frequently compared to a monkey by liberals. That was considered normal political discourse.

The difference lies in Valerie Jarrett’s African ancestry. It’s almost as if outraged liberals privately think blacks resemble monkeys. That could be why making the comparison out loud is the ultimate thought crime, whereas comparing white guys to monkeys is never taken seriously. Political correctness usually means being rewarded for telling lies and punished for telling the truth.
