A Kabul Comparison Even More Apt Than Saigon

We couldn’t stay in Afghanistan forever, but the abrupt withdrawal without any evident preparation for the obviously inevitable consequences has already produced heartbreaking tragedy:

Disturbing videos shared to social media Monday morning have reportedly captured Afghans clinging to air-bound planes in order to escape Taliban-controlled Afghanistan.

In the videos, objects that various outlets reported are people can be seen falling from planes as the aircrafts ascend hundreds of feet into the sky.

Sample videos:

As noted at Daily Wire:

Various news reports, including Newsweek, the Daily Mail, and Hareetz reported that the objects falling from the planes were people.

Joe Biden says the fall of Kabul is “not at all comparable” to the fall of Saigon, after Democrats in Congress pulled the rug out from under the South Vietnamese and abandoned the country to authoritarian darkness. As always, Biden is wrong. But there is another historical comparison that is even more relevant, and even more poignant.

Anyone remember the bodies falling from the World Trade Center after al Qaeda launched a terror blitz from Taliban-controlled Afghanistan? If not, stand by. There will soon be reminders. Islamic terror now has the wind at its back as at no time since 2001.
