Boston Suspends Advanced Classes Because Equity

The ideology of our rulers can be summed up by their favorite word, “equity.” Equity means holding all of us at the same level of achievement.

To do this requires pervasive control. At first glance, control seems to be the means and equity the end. Actually, control is the ultimate objective. Equity is the means; it serves as a pretext for exerting greater control.

Equity also requires the abolition of excellence. Like America’s founding principles, excellence affirms the individual. Leftists oppose the individual, who is harder to control than interchangeable members of a herd. That’s why Boston public schools are suspending Advanced Work Classes, a selective program for high-performing students.

Quacks Superintendent Brenda Cassellius:

“There’s a lot of work we have to do in the district to be antiracist and have policies where all of our students have a fair shot at an equitable and excellent education.”

It is the job of an educrat to spit up oxymorons like “equitable and excellent” without choking on them.

“Equitable” does not mean equal opportunity. It means equal outcome. If disfavored groups like whites and Asians are more likely to excel, then children will not be permitted to excel.

A district analysis of the program found that more than 70 percent of students enrolled in the program were white and Asian, even though nearly 80 percent of all Boston public school students are Hispanic and Black.

If equity were imposed on nations, every country on earth would be Haiti.

The program was open to all students in the Boston Public Schools who took a test known as Terra Nova in the third grade and received a high score. Those students were placed in a lottery conducted by the central administration office, and lottery winners received letters inviting them to apply to the program.

Maybe we could address historic injustices by putting only students with low scores in advanced placement classes. It would make as much sense as anything else liberal social engineers inflict on public schools.

Students in the program have the opportunity to study subjects in greater depth and are offered more schoolwork than the traditional curriculum requires.

Never mind; making historically disadvantaged students do more schoolwork would be racist.

Leftism renders talent superfluous and effort futile. In Utopia, they will never let you achieve anything on your own. The only way to get anywhere will be through favor bestowed by Big Government.
