Democrat Rep Jamaal Bowman: Freedom Is Slavery

“Freedom is slavery” is one of the three slogans of the ruling Ingsoc party in George Orwell’s prophetic 1984. This appears to have inspired Congressman-elect Jamaal Bowman (D-NY), who barks that economic freedom is slavery:

“I believe our current system of capitalism is slavery by another name,” Bowman said in an interview with The Root. “We’ve moved from physical chattel enslavement and physical racial segregation to a plantation economic system. One that keeps the majority of Americans unemployed, or underemployed and struggling just to survive, while the power elite continues to concentrate wealth in the hands of a few, and allow large corporations to pretty much run the world as multinational corporations.”

Boil down the duckspeak and you get a concept that Orwell expressed in three words: Freedom Is Slavery.

Human existence was characterized by poverty and misery until capitalism (a.k.a. economic freedom) dramatically improved the global standard of living. Leftists aspire to reverse this, because the poor and miserable are easy to control.

This sheds some light on the liberal establishment’s obsession with chattel slavery, an institution that existed throughout the world from prehistoric times. It was definitively eradicated in the parts of this country where it still survived going on 2 centuries ago. They aren’t fighting slavery; it now exists only in places like Africa. To secure bogus moral high ground, they equate it with what they really are fighting: freedom.

If you want people like Jamaal Bowman spending your money for you because freedom is slavery, the Democratic Party is right for you.
