Focus: Looting Taxpayers

Slightly reducing the firehose of spending pouring out of Washington has released a deluge of tears. In metro Detroit, Renaldo Bowles doesn’t like it that federal funding has been denied for the Head Start program at Focus: Hope.

He and his wife work full time, and the program has provided the childcare they desperately need.

Two full-time incomes, yet they cannot pay for their own childcare and must rely on the government to force others to pick up the tab. Maybe taxes are eating up their incomes.

“Folks don’t understand, it basically means you can’t operate,” Portia Roberson, Focus: Hope’s CEO, said on Tuesday. “It’s about $6 million of our budget, and it takes about that amount of money for the 300 kids we’ve been servicing.” …

She held back tears as she implored the room full of parents and community activists to lead a letter-writing campaign to help restore funding.

Hold back your own tears as you do the math. Divide $6 million of other people’s money by 300 kids and you get $20,000 per free babysat child. Big Government has been robbing us.
