Given that liberal ideology is morally repugnant and its most aggressive proponents are far from appealing, why do so many knuckle under and conform to it? Because the pressure is intense, particularly on young people — as former University of Oklahoma student Kylee McLaughlin learned from playing on the volleyball team:

The OU Daily reported that McLaughlin, the OU team captain and first team All-Big 12 selection in 2018 and 2019, had made comments that “at least one” of her teammates considered “racist” following a team viewing of the Netflix documentary “13th.”

Anything other than avid agreement with toxic leftist lies such as “incarcerating black lawbreakers is the same as slavery” is regarded as “racist.” It is not enough to subject the volleyball team to critical race theory propaganda. Authorities also need to punish anyone who offers a peep of dissent.

McLaughlin followed orders to attend a brainwashing session on “mass incarceration of black Americans,” but the Texas native continued to indulge in thoughtcrime by not agreeing that the University of Texas should drop the school song “The Eyes of Texas,” thereby incurring the wrath of volleyball coaches Lindsey and Kyle Walton.

She fought back with a lawsuit against the Waltons and the OU Board of Regents.

McLaughlin was now “branded as a racist and homophobe” by her coaches and teammates, according to her lawsuit. She was given the option of transferring schools, keeping her scholarship as a student, or “redshirting for the season and practicing separately without her teammates throughout the year.”

The Waltons argue they have the right to punish those who do not share their leftist political views because “team unity.” This must be the same unity Biden gibbered about after his radical handlers installed him in power.

Call it what you like — liberalism, progressivism, cultural Marxism, neo-Marxism, moonbattery — it is a totalitarian ideology that does not stand on its own merits but is imposed by force. Hats off to Kylee McLaughlin for showing the remarkable fortitude to stand up to these thugs. She is fighting for everyone who wants to live in a free country.

This fall she will play for the Ole Miss Rebels. Best wishes for her continued success.
