Why You Have Never Heard of Chidera Okolo

If a single detail had been different, this story would have been hyped relentlessly for the past 2 weeks, instead of languishing unnoticed in local media:

Kansas City police have investigated numerous reports of smashed windows and an attempted arson at the South-Broadland Presbyterian church. Vandalism at the church began back in November of last year when someone damaged their Black Lives Matter sign. Then someone began smashing nearly every window that could be reached including 16 windows in one night.

The windows of the nursery were broken repeatedly.

The police stopped being systemically racist long enough to conduct surveillance, and soon apprehended the apparent culprit:

As officers tried to arrest Chidera Okolo, police say he used the bat to strike an officer two times. A Taser was used and Okolo was eventually taken into custody. Investigators say he was wearing clothing that was consistent with the clothing worn by the suspect during previous vandalism at the church. He’s charged with assault and armed criminal action.

Can you guess why this was not national news? There is no picture with the story, but if you watch the accompanying video long enough, you will see that the Chidera Okolo has the wrong look to fit the liberal narrative. Good luck finding a picture of him anywhere other than this screenshot at Frauds, Crooks and Criminals.

If Okolo had been a Dylann Roof type, his face would be as familiar as George Floyd’s. The event would have been exploited to accelerate the ongoing purge of all things liberals don’t like.

So much happens in a country of 329 million that presenting the news on a selective basis is almost the same as inventing it out of whole cloth. A quote attributed to Michelangelo applies:

“The sculpture is already complete within the marble block, before I start my work. It is already there, I just have to chisel away the superfluous material.”

Similarly, the media chisels away superfluous material by ignoring anything that does not fit the liberal narrative.

As you can see at the church’s website, its Black Lives Matter sign features the slogan “NO PEACE WITHOUT JUSTICE.” Normally Christians are in favor of peace. However, the looting, vandalism, and arson that characterize Black Lives Matter are okay with some nominal Christians, because it all serves the higher calling of social justice — so long as it is somebody’s business that is destroyed and not their church.

On a tip from Dragon’s Lair.
