American civilization staggered another step toward utter collapse when a lowlife walked out of a Trader Joe’s in Manhattan Tuesday unmolested with 10 stolen steaks. He initially claimed to have paid for the steaks; then, he said he took them for free because he is homeless, which in the current political climate entitles him to do as he pleases.

Guess who pays for the “free” steak that the derelict probably sold to a bodega for drug money? You do. Rampant theft is another reason for the rising prices that our Marxist president blames on greedy capitalist meat producers.

Since the Tawana Brawley hoax that launched his high-profile career back in the 1980s, professional race-baiter Al Sharpton has done as much as anyone to advance America’s decline. At this point in our headlong rush into an abyss of leftist lunacy, even Sharpton is appalled:

“You cannot have a culture where people are just … robbing and stealing and it’s out of control,” Sharpton said Wednesday on MSNBC.

However, “Reverend” Al has been left behind by his own movement. At the vanguard, we find Nikole Hannah-Jones, who is de facto editor of the New York Times and a key player in the malicious revision of US history. She chided Sharpton for his objection to widespread theft as property rights and law & order collapse under liberal rule:

“This drumbeat for continued mass incarceration is really horrific to watch. A person stealing steak is not national news, and there have always been thefts from stores. This is how you legitimize the carceral state.”

Not even Al Sharpton is evil enough to keep pace with the progress of progressives. Consequently, he is no longer relevant.

As for the regular people who work at Trader Joe’s, the New York Post reports:

“They basically just tell us not to do anything, just let them go,” a Trader Joe’s worker, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, later explained to The Post.

“We get in trouble if we do anything … It don’t bother me, I’ve been working here for two years, I see it happen every day. After a while, you just don’t care.”

That will be the epitaph on America’s tombstone if we continue to succumb to liberalism. “After a while, you just don’t care.”
