The Miss Michigan organization proudly announced Hashwi’s win, noting that she impressed judges with her performance of “Koul Chi Aam Yekhlass” (“Everything is Ending”), a song by Lebanese singer Majida El Roumi.

Americana is no longer in favor.

Hijabs make it hard to judge beauty, but that doesn’t matter. Judges were presumably voting for the hijab, not her.

Stand by for the next historic milestone: the first Miss Michiganistan to be stoned to death for alleged adultery.
